I've been looking for one of these Raydot Spotlights for 74 years, I'll give you $5 for it. Quite A sum of money and double what it was worth in 1948. Olive oil will be good to preserve it l ageee 😂

Hi, just wondering if you had to replace the water pump seal? If so, where did you get it from?
@morrislcrescue Жыл бұрын
Hi Scale Armourer, yes to a rebuild on that pump and I was lucky enough to have two NOS LC water pump rebuild kits purchased at a swap meet many years ago… as these kits are long discontinued I had also been looking at rebuild options as I have at least another three of these pumps ( in various stages of disrepair) that need restoration. Have had to put a lot of my Morris work on hold due to some family health issues and work commitments but hope to get back to it soon… kindest regards JC

@morrislcrescue thank you for your reply. You wouldn't happen to know of the part number for the front seal on the water pump by any chance?

When will we see new content???
@morrislcrescue Жыл бұрын
Hi Dee, I certainly hope so but so far this year it’s just been impossible, COVID had a big part to play in this outcome bringing some unexpected and longer term health issues within my family and as a result I have shelved the new content for now while I focus on family. Hope to be back in the game soon and appreciate you support and patience. Kindest regards JC

JC Thanks for the reply I hope you and your family are able to put your Covid health issues in the rear view mirror, so to speak and when you are up to it I hope you can continue to share film and narrative of your Morris rescue adventures Cheers from Tualatin Oregon, USA

Hi Tony, been a crazy year for us mate and to-date I have not been able to free up enough of the time required to dedicate to producing more content. I definitely have a lot more on the drawing board with the Chanel and am hoping that if I can finalise a major project we are working on it frees up my time to make more videos . Appreciate your support and hope to kick off again soon - kindest regards JC 👍😉

Hi Robert, not going to disagree with you because I like to see these vehicles as original as possible to but while the plans for the bus are not to everyone’s taste to my way of thinking at least it’s going to continue albeit in a modified form which is better than its original destination which was the scrap metal recyclers. Appreciate you watching mate 👍😉 JC

Hope you replaced that release bearing (which is actually a bush in this instance ! and used to be pretty common before they started using roller bearings more mainstream ) as from what I could see that release face was all but worn back to its carrier it should have about 3/8ths" to a 1/4 " more meat on it, it was first thing I noticed when you took it off the input shaft, I was looking for it being replaced but you never actually mentioned or fimed it during reassembly. As to that spring missing on the pressure plate if you didnt actually already have a spare to hand I would have said dont worry about it, it isnt that critical in reality as the bearing should sit about three thou off it . and wouldnt cause any damage to anything in the real world especially with the other one still in situ. From my days as a mechanic in the seventies/eighties, every time we scrapped a gearbox I would always nick its input shaft to add to my collection of driven plate aligning mandrels.... I ended up with dozens of them lol keep up the good work, have enjoyed the entire series thus far. (all the best from an ex spanner maniac from the "mother Country" lol by the way - we share initials.)
@morrislcrescue2 жыл бұрын
Hey there JC !!! 😉 you are certainly on the ball 👍 well spotted, I definitely didn’t replace the release bush, friction bearing, pressure ring ( we know what we mean 😂) as the engine is all coming out/ apart again as I attempt to fix that crack in the block- I had been toying with the idea of manufacturing a replacement part with a more traditional throw out bearing instead of the friction bush arrangement- if I don’t do this then yes I will defiantly be needing to repair or replace. I did have a NOS assembly but used that one on Olive Oyls rebuild. Thank-you sincerely for chipping in with your expertise, it’s a really important component of what we are trying to achieve with the channel helped by experienced folk just like yourself. All the best to you and yours over the Holiday period - kindest regards JC
@usernamesreprise40682 жыл бұрын
@@morrislcrescue EH UP JC lol thanks for the reply, was thinking about that crack - but my post was getting long winded enough as it was lol. after considerable thought and having seen your prowess as a braizer, and given that this age of vehicle has a VERY low water pressure, I was thinking maybe take the head off and play your cute little "gas axe" lol up and down and slightly past the length of the crack and melt a ton of borax into it, heat it again then while it is mad hot use capilary action to sweat a brazing rod into it, it would probably work - have used it in the past and it does ! what is there to lose you already said you were toying with the idea of junking it, If you do decide to try, make a video of it, it has been such a long time since I brazed anything. regards. John p.s My FULL initials are JFC bet you have used those very initials youself the last time you dropped a high speed hammer on a finger lol

Hi JC A good tip for welding thin material is to clamp a copper bar behind, it acts as a ripper heat sink and Mig wire wont stick to it ( perfect for filling holes in thin material)

Great initiative JC , when I was in the states recently they celebrated Veterans Day and I’m not one to pump up anyones tyres but for yanks they did a good job (man that was hard saying that). Australia does a good job for Remembrance Day but we could still do a lot better eg. in USA serving military in uniform were invited to board planes first and were welcomed by applause from the other passengers.

Gotta be the episodes of the engine work done to holly. The number of tips you give, and advice is great for any kind of channel working on mechanics. You story telling is great, and i love the small jokes cracked here and there. Your humor is amazing, and you hold nothing back. Overall i'll say you are doing a great job and really the only improvment i can see that would be nice if you are taking care of yourself. can't run a channel if you're not available Edit: not the fact you aren't im sure you are but make sure to wear the correct cloths this time.
