Kuai Liang is Tundra and, later, Sub-Zero, after taking his brother's codename. Hanzo Hasashi is Scorpion (they could've even raised and trained him, that's fine with me, but his story should've been his own and Kuai Liang's story is his own), Harumi's husband, Satoshi's father. I don''t mind him, finally, saving his family, because he tried so hard in the previous game! Tarkatan is a race, not Cough-19. Bi-Han is not born evil. He was abducted as a child together with his brother and framed for destroying the Shirai Ryu and Scorpion's family. Framed! All in all, he's more of a neutral character. But they decided to turn him into a monster from the start without being corrupted by the Netherrealm. He wants his own brother gone. He offed their dad, too, and Liu Kang couldn't have been unaware of it. He knew! A plot hole. One of many. Cyrax is a man from Botswana, not a woman from Nigeria. Sektor is a man, whom we can actually see in Bi-Han's ending. Full stop. Honestly, there's so much they could've done with this story without ruining the characters!

i think legacy gameplay is important too rather than re-inventing the wheel every game MK9 was a solid legacy gameplay foundation the physics, movement and animation was decent now MK plays like injustice and its a completely different feel like your controlling overpowered robots not genuine martial artists. i believe this is the biggest flaw with the franchise at the moment coz playing MK doesn't even feel like MK :/

John Tobias is the one who created everything we know and love about MK for the most part. Ed Boon has remained in the franchise to this day but where is John Tobias? I've disliked Boon ever since he had it in for Sub-Zero, pushing Scorpion to the forefront as the franchise character but aside from that i dislike the NRS team currently especially Steve Barron AKA Stephanie Brown taking credit for the DEI changes and ruining what again, John Tobias created because i have always doubted Ed Boon to be able to draw anything. To use a DC Comics reference I've always felt that John was the Bill Finger to Ed Boon's Bob Kane, except Tobias also wrote the story of MK as well. Bring back John Tobias!!!

And all NRS had to do is to stick to the legacy of MK and it would be fine. Like Street Fighter or Tekken. Those games never abandoned their legacy. They never reinvented the wheel again and again. They took what worked and rolled with it. Sure, there were some bad decisions down the line but in general, those games are still great. And had NRS done the same thing, it would be fine but nope! They had to try and reinvent the wheel again instead of been stuck to their legacy and giving people what they want. And then they did a tons of bad decisions and here we are! Mortal Kombat is basically dead and I think that they just gonna drop everything in regards of MK1 and just do Injustice 3 instead. Or something completely different, like some kind of horror movies villains fighting game, kinda like that fan made Terrordrome game. But they can make MK great again, literally, by returning to legacy. To simple basics and with giving fans what we all want and that's it. Easy money shot. @@Noname15514 No, it did not. Since Street Fighter 4 back in 2008 game was bringing all of the fan favorite characters from the whole series, and also adding completely new characters. And if there is any guest characters, then it's characters from other games, like Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury. Not some kind of stupid killer in a bed sheet and plastic mask, but a character from another rival fighting game that Capcom did a crossover in the past with. And that is how you do a guest characters. Street Fighter 6 is the same. Legacy gameplay - check, legacy characters - check, tons of content - check. So yeah, Street Fighter is still staying strong despite some mistakes that they did. Same with Tekken.

All in all, I would say MK1 is a decent game. It's not great, and it has its problem that people have been pointing out, but the gameplay itself remains as tight as ever, the animalities are finally back, it has phenomenal graphics, it has good replay value, and it has arguably the best roster since MK9. The Invasions mode, while not executed the best, is certainly an ambitious idea.

MK 1, to me, comes across as a NetherRealm Studio that has run out of story ideas, game ideas, and is just burned out from doing fighting games. MK9 in 2011, Injustice, MK X, Injustice 2, MK 11 and now Mk 1. Also funny that Scorpion and Sub-Zero wore the outfits from the Mortal Kombat (1995) movie in Mortal Kombat: Conquest as well last I checked but nevertheless. NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. don't care about the MK franchise anymore, which coincides with the fact that MK9 was the last truly amazing MK game (I also like MK vs. DC Universe and I've already been well aware that Story Mode started with that game, before MK9 onwards) and anyone who says you're a racist has no idea what they're talking about at all. Also great idea for bringing back Onaga and him attempting to get his hands on the Kamidogu in a bid to conquer all (and failing) as well as him erasing MKX, MK11, and MK1 (more so MK11 and MK1) from existence entirely and arriving in MK9 aka the only timeline to survive.
