So apparently there was a test screening of the movie. Considering they set it a year and a half away which is abnormal for a completed movie, it's not a good sign. I'm willing to bet we'll hear about substantial rewrites and reshoots in the near future. WB also did not mention mortal kombat during during cinemacon during their 2025 line up so it sounds like they don't have any faith in it being good.

theyre probably being extra cautious cos if this movie doesn't do well, WB wont greenlight a 3rd. and it'll probably be the end of mk at that point

@@sharkrealm I do wonder how the hype will be with the average audience. Many people didn't like the first so I wonder how many will give the sequel a chance. I do really hope for the best, but I'm worried on this one.

I'm actually surprised it's that far out. October is a great release month for it though. Downside to is that I don't think we're going to see anything for it until summer next year.

according to todd, reserving theaters (imax) and seeing what competitor releases that don't affect the sales of this movie that come out around the same time. I guess its being cautious since the first didn't do well (fan wise) but money aside, if this doesn't, we won't see a third.

@@sharkrealmdamn man that sucks…. I didnt hate the first one like a lot of the people. I definitely see potential in this being a really good MK cinematic universe if they really listen to fan criticism to improve upon the mistakes of the first film. Would really be devastating to see it get canned like a lot of other failed universes.

This can't be real news unless todd officially confirms it,so we don't have no teasers not even full clear looks at some of the costumes and fans have to wait til next year in Oct they better hope nothing delays it like another strike or a pandemic me i believe it will be released around jan or February of 2025,the film has wrapped months ago and to be released so late of next year is pretty far away if they are so sure that will delay it,thats my opinion but that's to far away if any later of 2025 would be march the latest,and right now they don't have any setbacks or holdups unless some of the actors or other problems came up making the movie,but October 2025 i wonder what all the fans feel about this and not just a few who don't mind waiting that long

It's an official press release from WB so it's a real announcement. That is the release date unless they decide to move it up. Unfortunately, you should temper your expectations to Oct of 2025. Idk why they decided to wait that long either.

@pggalantd I just hope nothing delays this movie like another pandemic or strike or worst,I'm just looking at the reality of it all and this movie better be over 2hrs if they cram everything under 2hrs it's going to feel like that should be enough to satisfy fans but I'm not wasting my expectations now maybe once I see the trailer and if it lives up to the hype than I can see a October release date but for now my excitement level went down dramatically, just saying

@@cheyennecelius I agree with you all the way. My biggest worry is they have so many characters, I think it's going to feel very rushed. They got a much better writer on board, but the director is still a rookie and balancing that many characters is tough for anyone to do. We also don't know what studio mandates there are behind the scenes. For instance, the character, Cole Young was created as a studio mandate which is ridiculous.

real indeed. according to todd's tweet, the date is decided by WB when looking at theater availabilities, other movie competitions and things. so guess nothing was really happening that time

@sharkrealm still to far away in a sense I understand it doesn't want to compete with other movies, but come on Oct at least release it in the latest March I'm just hoping nothing happens and it gets delayed than they push it til 2026 or 2027,that's my main concern than fans will get tick off and wonder u had time and now this and than delay it so oct is just way to far not telling what may happen by than
