@@cockeyedoptimista Until 1941 Stalin and Hitler were allies, they had a pact and invaded Poland together 16 days apart in Sep 1939. The "friendship" finished when in 1941 the Germans invaded the part of Poland occupied by the Russians, betraying the pact between them. Officially, in Russia History books (and this is not a joke) the WW II started in 1941, the year they started fighting Germany. You can see that in WWII Russian monuments, the dates are 1941-1945, instead of 1939-1945. Again, this is real, I'm not joking.

Actually closer to 50% of the avarage weekly income. Did you notice how empty that store looked compared to your local Walmart? I doubt that many Moscovites are there buying white bread & sugary cereals. They need more bang for their ruble when it comes to nutrition. A traditional diet is more cost effective from that POV. Rye bread, sliced meats, cheese, & fresh/pickled produce are better buys for someone earning only 250 rubles/wk.

We don't really have many stores that would need them. That type of shopping cart is generally only used in supermarkets or department stores, and outside of major cities you don't really see too many of those things with multiple floors. Only one I can think of where I've seen a cart escalator is Whole Foods, which is too bougie for a lot of people to afford going to often anyway.

listen to Tucker's interview with Putin, the part shown on the show is from 13:23-13:40, listen from 11:30 to around 16:30; firstly Putin isn't saying WW2 is Polands fault that Poland forced Hitler to "rightfully" attack them; as is implied. But means, with Hitler wanting to use the danzig coridoor, and Poland refusing, Hitlers agenda would make him attack. It's not his opinion Hitler had the right to do so, it is the analysis of why Hitler attacked. It is what happened in history not that he agrees with what happened. Taken out of context. And also Tucker saying "of course"; he means "of course (Poland refused.)" this would have been obvious, but once the whole clip is shown out of context ; as if Putin was giving his opinion that it was Polands fault, when he was giving the historical context ,and once you decieved people of that, Tucker saying of course that moment looks like Tucker said of course to (so called) Putins opinion. Deliberately out of context. This is a mess. One thing that always gives away propaganda is that, it starts to get too black and white- Nothing to make sense of the other persons point of view. Poland forced Hitler to rightfully attack them; As Stewart put it "What do you do with something like that?" Literally. It doesn't really make sense someone said that, does it?

Interesting way to perceive what was said. I only heard a long winding story by Putin justifying Hitlers attack on Poland, while omitting Russias role in it, with the express intent to justify his invasion in Ukraine. It seemed to me he was telling us that Poland is next on the menu.

Tucker's grocery store trip reminded me of videos I've seen about tourists going to North Korea. You only see what they want you to see. They have the same well stocked stores just for show that no one can afford to shop in. One guy actually went in to buy something and the employee said he couldn't because it was for display only. He pointed to several items and the answer was the same each time. At least they let Tucker buy stuff. It might have been cheap to him, but he isn't thinking about a Russian salary. Sometimes in winter people have to chose between heat or food. In the country people use old fashioned wood stoves to keep warm. He should have interviewed some Russian families about how far their money goes, or researched some very well put together KZbin channels made by people trying to help the poor and starving in the country, especially the elderly who live in rural areas, literally forgotten. There is so much he could have done with this and he turned it into a parody. He failed miserably.
