@Shes-wicked2 жыл бұрын
@@kiddied1426 I really love this MOS so far. I’m currently at AIT halfway through my training. I will say, aviation AIT is a completely different monster compared to any other MOS. Aviation is a stress inducing mos. we have high responsibility - if you mess the smallest thing up you can and will kill people. Therefore AIT here has incredibly high standards and purposely stresses you out to test your limits and ability to focus under pressure. more so than basic training. If you are not dedicated, thorough and meticulous with all the things you do, aviation is not for you.

What’s 15h? And does 15u ever go out flying in the helicopter for missions?
@GreenOverRed Жыл бұрын
@@mill8784 15H is an Aircraft Pneudraulics Repairer. Tasked with maintaining the hydraulic and pneumatic components on all Army helicopters (mainly the CH-47). A 15U has a higher chance of flying than a 15H would. As 15U's as well as 15T's, also serve as crewmembers for their respective airframes. Though I will note that I have had the opportunity to fly in Chinooks several times throughout my time in the Army, so picking any aviation MOS has a higher chance, but 15U and 15T are your best bet if you want to fly in a Chinook or Blackhawk. And further still. Anyone in the Army can apply to become a Warrant Officer, and go through flight school to be a pilot for any of the Army's aircraft.

@@andrewrodriguez9237 I was 15U for 8 years active duty. Don't get me wrong I love what I did and trust me there, is no better airframe to go into war with if your flight company.. but if you didn't know what the U stands for, it stands for "u do everything!" Because Chinooks are the highest echelon of airframes in army aviation, your technically allowed to help with other airframes but they can't necessarily help on yours. You will have to do more work than anybody else. Maybe you like me and the b**** in the company that I can tell you right now that it gets old quick. You got to think of your day-to-day life because no one thinks about that before they join.. I say 15w because drones are the future, your life while in won't be in the field every other month, for a month, it's big money in the civilian world, and most importantly, you don't go down range with those drones from what I understand! THATS HUGE! you get to fly them from the states even if your unit goes to war! Trust me, war sucks. And that's the only pilot in the military that isn't a commissioned officer and you can do it enlisted. If I had to do it over I would go 15W for sure

Can you actually get a good job in the civilian world as a 15u?
@Shes-wicked Жыл бұрын
The experience is great but you will have to get your A&P while in to get a good job when you get out. Ait doesn’t teach you everything you need for the A&P but there are programs you can use offered by the army toward the end of your contract to get one before you get out. It will take a lot of work and time.

Does anyone know if you get to choose between being a airframer, flightliner, or Avi?
@truly_I_say Жыл бұрын
15U is a general mechanic. You'll start in a line unit (doing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance depending on your BN). If you're good you might get taken by a thought company (bravo company). Airframe (15G) and avionics (15N) are completely different MOSs. 15U is glorified part changing, rigging, weight and balance, etc. I was a 15U for 8 years. If I could do it again, I'd go 15W or 15C for sure

@CommandoLando1043 жыл бұрын
Some get chosen to go flight(crewchief/flight engineer) right out of AIT. More often than not though, most are in the maintenance company for a year or two before they’re either requested to go flight or they request to go flight
