You have to admire God's sense of humour here. Pharoah was raising moses as his own son, giving him the best of everything that Egypt had to offer a man. Using all of Egypts wealth and resources to train the liberator of the hebrews. Just beautifully played.

The ways of God are always mysterious to man. Joseph sold as an slave became 2nd in command only to Pharoah! Through that, he ruled over his brothers! He and his 11 brothers generated a nation in Egypt. The nation of God was thus ready to depart!!! Jews blew it by killing the Messiah!!! Now his Church is guided by God himself since 33AD!!!
@MrIrrepressible

@Dvd Ortiz it was the sanhedrin who plotted to have Jesus killed, not the Jews. Israel is still the apple of God's eye and he will bless them that bless israel and curse them that curse israel. God's covenant israel still stands and it is us gentiles who are allowed to be partakers in the blessing abraham because of the jews. The church does not replace israel.

@@MrIrrepressible actually it was all the Jewish leaders who craved political power. They would not have a messiah (annointed one) by God himself to rule over them as king, since that would mean they would lose all the political influence they had over the Roman governor. They could not bear that loss. So Jesus had to die. Pontius himself didn't want to do it at first. It was the worship of power that made them want to do it And in this Moses story, we see that as soon as he leaves them, they create a cow of gold, to worship it. And so they worship gold which represent money and power, rather than the scary Horus, half man half eagle who sees all with his eagle eyes, and who represents oppressive egyptian power. Today, the all seeing eye above the egyptian pyramid on the dollar bill. The Eagle, the national animal of the US. The obelisk, Washington momument, egyptian symbols of power. All that ancient egyptian pagan symbology has survived and it was conceived by satan himself. That's why Moses stood against it

God didn’t want just any prophet. He wanted a prophet who tasted the sweetness of Egypt, and spat it out in disgust. He wanted a prophet who grew to hate Egypt so that he would assist god in destroying it. In later books like Numbers, Moses is very against going back to Egypt. He yells, screams, and eventually allows dissenters to leave, only to be found days later murdered by Philistine bandits.

What really helps to make this scene so effective is the underrated performance of Sir Cedric Hardwicke as Seti, you feel his progression from profoundly shocked at the sight of Moses in chains to utterly heartbroken as he hears Moses confess, great casting choice by DeMille

The part I like is when he said; The evil of men who would turn their brothers into beast of burden, to slave and suffer in dumb anguish. To be stripped from spirit and hope and faith, only because they're of another race, another Creed. If there is a God; He did not mean this to be so. @@louseveryann2181 It's not fairy tales. These were actual real people. They're recorded in history. What Miracles ? at the sea GOD PUTS A PILLAR OF FIRE Between Moses and Pharaoah..... right ? 1 min later "Look Pharaoah, THE FIRE DIES" Are you kidding ? Let's not forget they could have just driven around the fire . Why did god create a pillar of fire, Why not use that energy to burn the egyptian army before they could strike. that way - Moses and his camp wouldn't need to go anywhere - they could rest easy Why did god let pharaoh get so close to moses so as to raise the alarm. Why not , when Moses saw, Pharaoh's soliders. why didn't go just blow them up ? SO EVERYONE COULD SEE HIS MIGHT Remember the old bloke "before death close my eyes, my wish was that i would behold.... thy deliverer" WHY MAKE THE OLD BLOKE SUFFER, WHY NOT JUST TELL HIM..... YOU DID SEE HIM ? Even as a child, i felt it was unfair of god to do this to the old bloke. he was faithful to god THOUGH SLAVERY or what other miracle ??? that Moses tells sethi, he loves him and doesn't wish to rebel against him but sethi insists.... Why do you force me to destroy you. One would think Sethi would resonate a bit of common sense don't you think ? Mate 2 things are undeniable here 1. MOSES NEVER EXISTED IN THE HOUSE OF EGYPT 2. THE BIBLE ISN'T GOD'S WORD Now... You do what you will beyond that, but those 2 things if nothing else , are absolutely true. the second one you can easily prove for yourself the first takes approx 3 years of research THAT .. YES.. This movie 🎥 is a classic of all times. I have watched this movie on numerous occasions, it has taught me a lot. Cecil B. DeMille really did his homework 📚 and researched the scrolls and the Bible. It really brought out who Moses was. I also came to a conclusion when Moses talked to God each time God starts off by saying” I Am “ he introduces himself as he is and there is NO ONE ☝️ LIKE GOD. Yes, this movie IS. A true classic but really look and listen how Cecil B. DeMille put this movie together you’ll get some great revelation from it. I’m sure the actors in this movie must have gleaned something from this movie and hopefully it touched their ♥️, souls and minds that would impact their life. I pray others who see this movie will see what I saw, and allow God to speak to their 💕 hearts and minds how Moses impacted our lives and the history that Moses was involved in according to scripture. @@crashpal No. Moses needed to do more than just free the Hebrews, but also guide them to Israel. You can see that the Hebrews started to abuse their freedom as soon as they escaped Egypt. This is my favorite scene in this very epic masterpiece, including the dancers not shown immediately previous to this part here, ONLY because of the Ancient Egyptian music. My god those strings right before the doors are open when Moses appears, it's just gorgeous they always remind me not only of Egypt or this movie but also the springtime because this airs on ABC typically the night b4 Easter.

Your hair is all messed up and you got up early, he's just waking up You're like "good mornin babe" he's like "good morning my love" You're like "i'm making breakfast, is Scrambled eggs on toast and orange juice, ok for you" he's like "I BASK IN THE LIGHT OF YOUR GLORY" LOL he's always gonna have something like that to say he'll be home from work "How was your day" He's like "It was a day that shall never be forgotten through the ages, man walked into the office after man and we worked like beasts of burden all day long, until lunchtime but the temple granery's were empty so it sucked. if there is a god why does he not hear our cries from the office" LMFAO

This stands as a masterpiece, but one of overblown, cliches, and huge glitz..which was exactly what DeMille did. He did it like no one else had ever done...And we in the audience loved to watch it. I was 8 when this came out. And I still love seing it - at 74...

This entire scene is both great and heartbreaking. Moses and Seti both tell each other how much they care for one another as father and son. Yet, Moses then breaks Seti's heart by telling him that he was left with no choice of what he did. Only then to leave Seti no choice to do what he had to do right then and there. You can see the pain in Seti's eyes and face as he is about to give Egypt to Rameses. He wanted to give it to Moses not just because he probably loved Moses more then his own son, but because he knew Moses could do great things. Even greater then Rameses, and when he officially bans Moses name from the world and lowers his head I'm sorrow. You can tell that he is sad and desecrated by the events. To the point that it looks like he could start to cry or is crying.

This movie has so many lies it that it’s pathetic. Jeremiah 16:19 O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

Amazing parallels shown in this scene: Moses steps up to stand higher than Seti. Seti hardens himself as he declares Moses' sentence. Moses is later sent out of Egypt. Later on, Moses returns, standing taller than Ramses. Ramses hardens himself against him, but in the end, Moses leads the Hebrews out of Egypt.

I understand that God had to be the one to bring them out of Egypt. He promised Abraham the land of Israel not Egypt. The absolute anguish and sorrow that Seti feels when he sees Moses you almost wish he would have said “Ok Moses you convinced me. The Hebrews can go free and you can be Pharaoh.” But of course he didn’t and Israel was born as of this moment. Violently powerful and very very sad scene.

only in this era, filmed this way, and with these actors could this scene be played and not come off as melodramatic in the way they move, striking poses the way they do, and i love it. it's just so watchable on every level. it wouldn't work at all in today's hollywood, they'd make it 'gritty' and ugly.

What made this movie so 'great' is the same thing that made all Biblical movies 'great': gullibility, lack of historical knowledge, and desperation to believe that myths actually happened. David 'really did' sling a rock at a giant and make him fall over dead. Moses 'really did' put a stick in the Nile and cause it to turn to blood. The Israelites 'really did' charge across the Jordan, march around Jericho and all the walls fell down ... even though the city was already a ruin at the time (as was the nearby city of Ai which they also supposedly burned to the ground. In fact, Ai had been a ruin for over 1500 years.)

John 14: 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” 22 Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
