I was literally picking up my paper, towel off the floor and just sterilized my glove again. When you in the video towards the end, said, if you ever pick up anything off the floor in the lab, always change your glove and throw it away. I was doing that at the exact moment you said that and I happen to be watching at that time.Lmao 😅

I just finished building a 55 gallon atmospheric steam pasteurizer (propane, not electric), was using a pressure canner last year and boy did that take a long time since I could only do two bags at a time. I also just completed building an inoculation gun that incorporates a peristaltic pump hooked up to my lc jars for going straight to bulk without needing to go back and forth to refill the syringe. Also fitted the jars with filtered aeration like you showed in your other video. I'm excited to see how much I can produce with my setup this coming season.

For those looking at this as a hobby and with limited funds, like most of us, the large size pressure cookers (23 quart+) is a good cheaper option because it has more than one use. Learn about home pressure cooking food preservation aka “canning”. When you are not doing mushroom stuff, you can use it to preserve food for longer term (no refrigeration) storage. Meats, veggies, soups, stews…The damn thing is more valuable to you when you use it at its full potential. If you find mushrooms are not your thing, the pressure canner can still be useful for you. Hell, remove the weight and put a pipe onto the weight nipple the thing can also act as a simple pot still or steam generator for a small DIY pasteurizer setup…if you’re into that…Go for the more expensive equipment later down the road if your journey leads you in that direction.

You can can with a sterilizer too, just set it to the appropriate pressure and run it for the right amount of time. Jars don't have to sit in water to be canned.

If I were to convert a presto would you do a "control valve" and a "relief valve"? Or would you do a control valve with a high pressure plug? The all american sterilizer has all three safetys I guess I'm just wondering which two you would prioritize since the presto only has two holes for safety components

Hey Andrew! Is the control panel on the Autoclave an add on? I can't seem to find the model with that control panel on it.

Use media bottles for agar, not erlenmyer flasks. Because they narrow towards the top, boiling liquids will shoot up much higher than a vessel with parallel walls filled halfway.

18:00 please do not put "Vaseline" on your silicone gaskets. Vaseline is a petroleum product & will eat away at your silicone rubber gasket. you can give it a little stretch after each use or use Lubrifilm Plus or something equal to "Lubrifilm Plus" its a food grade lubricant that will not destroy your gaskets & its super inexpensive. thank me later

Could you recommend a time for cvg substrate in the autoclave as you did for grain spawn? Thank you for all the help through the years.
@LarsLarsen7710 ай бұрын
Just run it up to pressure and then turn it off right away and let it hold pressure overnight. People do it by pouring boiling water in a bucket so any pressure at all will be fine.

The flask sux for agar, TR Davis uses a plastic pitcher with a handle, way better.
@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial9 ай бұрын
I disagree. The pitcher is one of the worst. It has a very large opening which has a higher chance of contamination. In my agar pouring video I go over why I hate the pitcher method. His reasoning is literally, it's made for pouring. So are flasks, that's why they have a drip resistant edge around the opening.

Canners have been scientifically proven to have equal capabilities of steralization as an autoclave. That took 10 sec to find on google. Quicker than listening to andrew blow smoke.

Can you guys make a video on how you manage to stay in business when each order takes 3+ months to receive if at all, as well as half the lc you ship out is contaminated?
@Mossycreekmushroomsofficial9 ай бұрын
Lol, obviously we wouldn't. Our ship times are pretty good compared to many companies, and we QC every batch of LC we grow. In fact we grow crops from every single batch of LC. I'm sorry if you've had a bad experience with us, but we have many many people that have great experiences with us. I searched your name and couldn't find anything ordered by you. If you ordered under a different name and would like to email us about your issue, we can get you taken care of. KZbin comments is kind of a bad place to get yourself taken care if that is what you are after. Really it's only useful if you're trying to bad mouth someone.

@@katiejoens7833 I just don't pay the fee to make the bad reviews go away. A cursory Google search can show you the BBB is a freaking scam. That said, if you find yourself not wanting to do business with me, I have no issues with that. Go find someone you trust. Again, you're talking about something you have 0 experience in so forgive me if I don't take you seriously.
