This is pretty awesome. Never seen anything like this and watched a lot of videos on bow setups. Good video

I had issues with tail wagging for a couple of years now and have been into archery shops, had my bow paper tuned, and nothing fully corrected the issue until I did this. Now my arrows fly straight, I have tight grouping again at every distance, and (after sighting in) my sights and arrow align better both before and after drawing back than they ever have. Thank you so much for sharing! My arrow was a little less off than yours in the video, but the difference it made was incredible!

Works great Just did it on my Mission MXR,and after setting center shot,I drew my bow and looked thru my peep. I aligned my sight pins with the taped on string. That makes your sight and rest in alignment. Worked perfectly!!

Yes, This is a great place to START to find center-shot then paper tune but, after paper tuning, in my opinion, nothing beats bare shaft tuning.

I agree but doing this will also help determine how much string influence you may have at full draw. I'll put up another vid soon to explain.

They did this in the 90’s, it’s a decent starting point but that’s about all it is. Paper tune, walk back tune, and bareshaft is a must for ultimate accuracy.

In a perfect world, that’s a great idea. Problem is most people don’t have properly spined arrows. Start with centershot alignment, don’t always end with it.
@fernandoramos83935 жыл бұрын
That is an awesome way to having a more accurate reference alignment before fine tuning. I tip my hat to you, I'm in the construction trade, I used my green self leveling vertical laser to do the same idea. I got from center of cam to center of cam. I understand, can't always trust when they say that it's ready to go. Thanks for making the video, it helped.
@keithshelton60175 жыл бұрын
Great tip. There is a laser tool that mounts on riser in sight holes. You shoot laser to string at nocking point, then swivel it down the arrow shaft to see if the shaft is in same plane as nock. Your method is the same principle. Thx for the tip.

Yep good place to start and merely just a starting point. Guys have been putting 2 Allen wrenches inside each limb bolt and attaching small bungee cords for ages. The width of the limb bolts spreads the cord enough to run the arrow through the middle without all that measuring and taping. With that said few and far between are bows that tune best with an arrow going dead down the center.
@f4nt0m457 ай бұрын
Amazing tip! You can also use a laser level to check the whole 'plane' alignement from the front and back (including sight needle) or even instead of the string hack (straight tape all the way also might be easier than taping a string which might need to go over bolts etc,...)
@jmbauer685 жыл бұрын
Cool idea for left right. Kinda like bore sighting a rifle. Probably still should bare shaft tune due to outside factors. But this will save a lot of time.

I’m pretty sure my arrow is doing a little tale kick while in flight, I measured off of the riser like you was showing how everyone else does it, but I’ll definitely be giving this new way a try, looks much more accurate.

This is the first video i seen on this. I been doing this a year ago, looking at my bow and thought "you would think you could tape a string on the riser . . ." and ding the lightbulb went off. So i been taping sewing thread inline with my string on both cams and setting the rest with a cut arrow to the line
@stangbanger64455 жыл бұрын
Well done. Appreciate it. I'll be doing this tonight
@bastintripletroubleboys21014 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I used a variation of this to get the centre of the rest aligned with the plane of the string, worked well. My bow is 30 years old so the rest is close where the front of your shaft is. Shooting bare shafts the tail is out about 1 - 2 inches at 20 yards both left and right so i am guessing its either my 30 year old shafts or me 30 years out of practice

This is really cool idea. It makes sense to me. This is probably a dumb question but, I get the 3.5 mm off center thing but from which side of the limb pocket do you measure from the left or right, looking from the string side or the riser side?
@RemedyTalon3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I just used this method after a nightmare paper tuning session (it might be my spine).
@Sertao201310 ай бұрын
If you put a sharp field tip on the end of your short arrow you can line it up to the string you added a lot better or cut your arrow longer than the string and cut out a notch half way into the arrow and move the rest until the center of the cut out touches your line . On just about all the new bows the risers have a flat riser . If you put a square over the center hole and mark the location of the string on the square you can then just flip it over and use the longest arrow you can get like 32 inch arrow and using the longest square you have line the center of the arrow at the very tip to the string mark you made with the string . The longer the arrow tip is from the bow the more accurate your alignment will be . To make thing easy cut the tip of the arrow in half about a 1/2 inch back so when you lower the square down you will know if its in the center or not .
@85ZERO174 жыл бұрын
GOOD STARTING POINT...NOT A BAD PRACTICE TO IMPLEMENT TO GET YOU GOING. BUT IT ALL GOES OUT THE WINDOW ONCE YOU TUNE THE BOW. ESTABLISHING CENTER SHOT IS JUST A STARTING POINT.

I have the same bow, under full draw it was completely out even after doing something similar, ended up been one top limb was pulling down first the fix is the give or take twist on the strings that are either side of the limbs, your looks like the top left is down atm.

Did you paper tune after doing this.....I agree 100% with it all needing to be in the same plane and it all looks good at rest but I wonder if all remains the same once force is applied and spine deflection comes into play. Not trying to pick apart what you did or call it wrong, just trying to see how well it worked because it could end up being a fool proof method for setting center shot.

Plumb bob from the nock point & a level bow would also show whether or not your rest is centered. I like the idea tho.
@jasonnester95145 жыл бұрын
Ur arrow sitting on the rest should run through the center of the limb bolt set it there never move it shin to cams or tweak the yokes then shoot paper boom the bare shaft then walk back just my opinion but I am curious how did u fog out how many mm the cam was off center ?
@douglasbegnaud15 жыл бұрын
Looks like a great idea but, what happens when we draw the bow and the dreaded cable guard induced torque rears its ugly head? Dependent on a fixed or flexible system, this will have significant effect. My Hoyts always tune inside of center to achieve bullet holes when paper tuning along with the yoke tuning and such. I am always looking for a better way and will look at your method. Great video though.

Many people end up somewhere other than “center shot” after tuning... Center shot is essentially how a hooter shooter would shoot the bow best. everyone torques bows different. Like you and others said it’s a good starting point... in other words many people shoot a tear even on center..

Tried this and it’s a good starting point! The only thing I did different was taped the string to the cams themselves. Also, What sight is that?

The reason the pro shop didn't set your rest correctly is because they were been lazy not because it's hard to do, There's plenty of ways to set your rest in the correct position, special in a pro shop and none of them are hard to do.
