To the people defending the girls and/or saying Mackie was acting out of line, try to imagine this scenario: you're out with some of your friends with whom you have an inside joke. This joke is obvious to everyone you meet but they don't try and join in because they understand that this particular joke is just between your friendship group. Then suddenly two random strangers appear and instantly try getting in on the joke but they get a few bits of it wrong. You play along for a while, probably thinking they'll pick up on the fact that something's not right and they'll either go or fix what they're doing wrong. Instead, they just keep doing it wrong and even insist that they're your friends now because they "get the joke". That's essentially what happened here. The two of them were given plenty of hints to tone it down (Tom's comments, the mod's comments, even things like Seb sinking into the couch should have tipped them off that everything was not okay). Tom didn't need them to "defend" him - he's a grown man. If he ever has a genuine problem with Mackie, he can sort it for himself or get one of his coworkers to do it. I get being nervous and the adrenaline rush that comes from meeting someone famous - the first girl was clearly influenced by these since she apologised straight away and even looked kinda shocked. And I don't agree with the hunting down on social media that apparently happened to these two since, let's be honest, this clip inevitably being on the internet forever is punishment enough. But at the end of the day, they made an already awkward situation a whole lot worse for themselves. I just hope this incident has reminded everyone that there's a line in these sorts of interactions.

Personally I'm really socially awkward so the very few times I've actually met anyone famous, I've stuck to just asking for an autograph if they're not too busy already and then I just say as little as possible so that I don't embarrass myself or them. The thing I can't get over is that Tom gave the two of them an out really early on when he said they were making him look bad. I've seen plenty of times at cons when that sort of thing happens and then the fan has the sense to tone it down and apologise and generally everyone's able to just laugh it off. To me, it was the girl in green who was at fault more than the first girl - she chose to keep having a go at Mackie while the first girl instantly apologised to Seb for the "educate yourself" comment.

I was there. Believe it or not... it was even more awkward in person. Many people had been waiting in line to ask a question and these girls wasted SO MUCH time essentially insulting Seb and Mackie. It was incredibly disrespectful to the guests on stage and to the fans... nobody appreciated it, especially the actors. (Also, They weren’t even supposed to get to “ask” their “question”. The moderator was trying end the Q+A portion because of time, but these girls screamed “NO!! Yeah, the Seattle one was pretty awesome, and all the panels had a Q+A portion that was at least 30 minutes (I got to ask one to Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany). For this specific one, it was really sad because there were SO MANY people who RAN to get in line to ask a question and they stood there for like an hour and not that many people got to actually ask their question.... and these girls came and did that. I didn't think it would be THIS bad when I saw a clip of this in another video...... it was worse than I could've ever imagined. Mackie looks SO DONE at 3:40. It's like you can SEE him thinking "they do NOT pay me enough to sit through this BS". The worst part too was they kicked all the regular fans out of the main seats for the vip tickets. Izzy8u first off, the girls *talked* a lot and really never got to a legit question. They insulted Mackie, and if the majority of people including the actors themselves thought it crossed the line, odds are they did. Mackie has banter and makes jokes ALL the time with fans, and sometimes those jokes that they go back and forth with are on that line...the girls clearly crossed it, because we can tell the difference.
