The crowd sings the National Anthem in unison. This sent chills down my spine in person. This was at Game 2 of the playoff series between the Cavs and Pacers in Cleveland!

This song represents hope, determination, and unity even during times of hardship. It represents a dream of a future where everyone gets an opportunity, and the belief that there are rights that cannot be taken away. This song represents more than just a country. It represents a people, an idea, a hope for tomorrow.

Especially the song talks about slaves saying this: “No refuge could save the hireling and slave, from the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave”
@justincase19193 жыл бұрын
@@peyton7786 It isn't talking about the slaves , per se, but escaped slaves that were fighting on the side of the Brits. Having said that, that part isn't in the anthem, so get the hell over it.

@@peyton7786 It might be anything to haters and race baiters, but the Star Spangled Banner is the greatest anthem in the world given what it stands for. Were it to represent what you have mischievously stated, thousands wouldn't be risking their lives to reach the shores of the country that has it as its anthem. The hireling and the slave had no hope under an oppressive colonizer but all that changed when dawn broke to see the flag waving triumphantly in the breeze. It remains the beacon of freedom to those who love to be free.

After coming back from Vietnam in 1969 ... where I was badly wounded ... I went to a Chicago Cubs game in Wrigley Field and because of my background in opera, I was asked to sing the National Anthem. At the end, the crowd came unglued. Then, someone who had a box seat right over the Cubs' dugout invited me to sit with them. I got to meet some of my boyhood heroes, including Ernie Banks! I can never forget this day, as long as I live.

My friend came from Ireland to the United States. He was a self taught tenor. Anyway the first time he was asked to sing the star spangled banner he had to use his cell phone for the words. But by God did he lift the roof when he sang. A few short years later he was singing for the Chicago bulls in one of their games. Hes as humble as they come still drives a wee car not worth much more than a $1000 dollars.

I love how the leader backed off and lowered her voice to allow the others to rise! That's when the singing is best....when acapella voices blend. That girl at the start made it wonderful by not insisting on being the starring voice!! She really is a vocal star.

Complete version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" - Francis Scott Key O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream, 'Tis the star-spangled banner - O long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation! Blest with vict'ry and peace may the heav'n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto - "In God is our trust," And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
