I like the truck but have some questions. Thanks for the website. I'll send them an email. PS. I think you should have a railgate option. It would give you more weight capacity, better control with unloading freight and personnel. Good job Andre.

I'm sure Acela does a good job rebuilding the truck, but you can get a Stewart Stevens M1083 6x6 surplus truck for $5,000. $95,000 seems a little high to change gears, paint it, replace the suspension wear items and insulate the cab.

Base price $100k isn't that much these days. Considering a new Raptor or Escalade costs the same. Of course it's a completely different application, but in comparison to the Raptor you get way more truck and capabilities only not as fast. Compared to a high end SUV with off road or AWD you won't have the comforts and elegance but, you can build the truck as an overland camper and have every creature comfort available and be able to access terrain that a standard off road SUV or camper won't. It could be set up for all weather situations as well. The capabilities and options to be any kind of vehicle or cross duty vehicle are almost endless if you have the money to do the extras. But $100k isn't a bad base for a frame off rebuild of a military truck. Even if you bought one at auction for $10k - $20k the engine may have pretty low mileage and hours but the trucks have been beaten down, and will usually need a good amoubt of work done to them. Like i said, it all depends on the depth of your pockets and the willingness and ability to do some of the work yourself if your pockets can only afford an auction truck.

Didn't know Acela Truck, so my first thought: Are they ripping off the Steyr 12M18 (or in this case the Stewart & Stevenson version)? But then they mention it's a reconditioned vehicle. I just love this vehicle in both, the 4x4 and 6x6, configuration. I did my truck driver's license on the 4x4 Steyr and liked it ever since. You should check out Excap from Germany, as they also do high quality rebuilds of this vehicle, starting at 40k afaik.
