It seems hard to imagine Mary having to walk close to 100 miles while 9 months pregnant but my great grandmother walked from Idaho to Portland, Oregon, over 500 miles, while pregnant with twins. Women used to be much tougher than me!

Reminds me of a friend of my mother who thought "let freedom ring" in My Country, Tis of Thee was "levry dumry". In her mind it was some Latin phrase like E Pluribus Unum or something. She wasn't old and hard of hearing or anything, she had just got that in her head as a child and didn't realize until she saw the lyrics on the sheet music my mother had.

The virgin birth is the birth of Christ in you, through you, as you imho. I don't believe it's correct to say that there is no birth of Christ in the Gospel of Mark. Mark 13 has the line: this is the beginning of the birth pangs. Then there follows a description of spiritual purification leading to an experience of seeing "the son of man coming with power." My dearest hope is that Christians come to understand the gospels as timeless books of spiritual instruction rather than as histories. I know that many already do, and I know many who are the most wonderful people! Merry Christmas!

I like your thorough analysis of this and, as always, pointing us back to scripture. I would comment that it isn't "We Three Kings of Orientar" but "We Three Kings of Orient Are"- the Orient being the East from Europe/Middle East and it being a poetic, old English way to say we are three kings from the orient (even though they probably weren't kings).

I also use the word "probably" when speaking to those celebrating this time of year more often than not to encourage folks to do their own research and not to appear a "know-it-all." Totally man's head knowledge....no revelation knowledge. Larson showed the revelation of truth...King, King, King, Is the pointe. True not everyone is 100% correct. Because of being in the natural mind. ( He needs to slow down a little.) Lots of facts stated we already know. we go by scripture not christmas cards. Psalm 19 The Heavens declare the Glory of God. God mapped out the story of His gospel in asronomy w/the Constellations.....it was to reveal himself to humanity. The enemy twisted it to astrology where it tells you about you. ..Instead of God. As far as the star went ahead...is like you saying I will go ahead of you to this city and you follow and I will see you there. That could have been when Jupiter was in retrograde...they didn't see it for a little while then it appeared again. The fact that the Lord used his planets to proclaim the Glory of His son, the King of Kings three times in this process, i.e. King, King, King, as Larson pointed out, which the magi would have been aware that something significant was happening, of which they had never before seen. The point of Christmas cards is irrelevant. The idea was a King was coming...God showed 3 wise men... who knew so strongly they brought the most precious gifts they could. He was born, announced by the angel and the Host of Heaven sang Glory in the highest, it upset the Evil King enough to kill all the baby two year old boys in fear of loosing his crown. It happened just as the scripture records. For unto us is born this day, in the City of David, Savior, who is Christ the Lord. He split time..B.C. and A.D. before Christ and after his death. I uly believe this Star was a Heavenly event to proclaim and announce the coming King. It wont be repeated. He will come now as the Lion of Judah, in power and glory,..the King of Kings (us). See Rev. 17.14; 19.11-16 Blessings

Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum of Ariel Ministries explained , and I quote from his essay, The Visit of the Magi, that this 'star' appears and disappears. It moves from East to West, also from North to South. This star hovers over one single house in Bethlehem., pointing out the exact location of the Messiah. It is very evident that this cannot be a literal star, as we know that any such star hovering over a single house would destroy the whole planet. The Greek word for 'star' simply means ' radiance' or ' brilliance'. With this star coming in the form of a light, we have the appearance of the Shekinah Glory.-the visible manifestation of God's presence. Whenever God became visible in the Old Testament , such a manifestation was referred to as the Shekinah Glory. This eexplanation makes more sense to me, especially as Dr Fruchtenbaum was Jewish.

PS Also everyone I know understands that the creche (the manger scene) is put together from the many parts of the scripture. We also know that St. Francis was the first one to set up a creche on Christmas Eve one year as a way of remembering that story. In those days most people were not literate and the images from scripture, including objects like the creche contained all the story elements not to suggest they all happened at once, but as things to point to for the viewer to recall and remember each point from the Gospel story. It helps to know church history.

Many times in scripture Angels appear as very bright lights. This same light 1000ft in the air will look like a star. Dr. Danny Faulkner.. I liked to hear your thoughts on this “Since John the Baptist was born on Passover, the 15th day of Nisan (the 1st Jewish month), Jesus would have been born six months later on the 15th day of Tishri (the 7th Jewish month). The 15th day of the 7th month begins the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:34-35), also known as Sukkot. Jesus was born on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles! In the year 5 BCE, this fell in the month of September.” “It is probable, because of the circumstances shown in Luke 1, that Mary conceived during the last two weeks of Elizabeth’s sixth month. Thus, John was born in the spring of 4 BC, probably between March 18 and 31. By projecting forward another six months to Jesus’ birth, the most probable time for His birth occurred between September 16 and 29.” " Gabriel is still speaking to Mary, and notice that Elisabeth is the cousin of Mary. This is important to note that part of blood line is to the Levites, as Zacharias and Elisabeth were both of the lineage of Aaron. Mary had asked Gabriel how it would be possible for her to bear this child, and he is reminding her that Elisabeth is in the sixth months of Pregnancy with her child. Elisabeth was well known to be very old and far beyond child bearing years. This time of Mary's >>>conception

@@darroniverson yes as with the second coming of Christ we are told it will be JUST like in the days of Noah. For 120 years Noah followed Gods instruction to build the Ark, though it had never before rained. The earth was watered by a mist so no one believed him or paid attention to his warning but only mocked. Can you imagine preaching for 120 years and having not one convert. They were too busy with their lives, eating and drinking and marrying right up until the rain began, and it was God who shut the door. Not Noah. Like the way God says He will again shut the door to the opportunity to be at the wedding feast of the Lamb. 5 virgins had their lamps full of oil and 5 were not prepared then the door was closed when they went to buy oil. When a train arrives you might have waited a long time for it but once it comes you get on and it takes off very quickly. Jesus is said to be taking a long time to come back and though all around the signs show it’s not much longer people tire of waiting and occupy themselves with other things and forget to watch.

And heaven and heaven and nature sing… Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. There is a wonderful novel by Norah Lofts, "How Far to Bethlehem?"(Doubleday 1965) . Melchior, an impoverished, aged astronomer in Korea first "reads a message of tremendous import in the skies". He sells everything he owns and begins his journey to Bethlehem. Along the way he meets Gaspar, a warrior who then accompanies the old astronomer as a protector. Continuing their slow travels, they meet up with Balthazar, a learned linguist who speaks many tongues. This novel is a marvelous retelling of the Christmas story. Fiction that warms the heart and stirs the soul.

I would suggest that the wise men went to Nazareth rather than to Bethlehem. When you read Luke's account of the birth that once they had completed all things according to the Law the family returned to Nazareth. Another argument for this is that Joseph's livelihood was there, their home was there too. It also explains why the wise men needed guiding to where the Lord actually was. It also shows the way in which God ensured Herod would not locate Him.

@@lilalabom6393Why kill only in Bethlehem? Have you ever noticed how stupid criminals ( evil people ) can be? Herod figured He was born in Bethlehem, therefore His home was in Bethlehem. There are some really good comments on this video you should read. Also remember that all italicized words in the Bible were added by the translators and that the italicized word " child" in Luke should have been " babe" as Jesus was definitely 40 days or a few days older in Luke 2:34 and then the family returned to Nazareth, verse 39, whereas in Matthew the word "child" is not italicized and really means a child ( most probably walking) when the wise men came. Also notice, that when they left Herod, it does not mention they searched or found Him in Bethlehem. That is the gospel of assumption. Fortunately, the star appeared again ( after 2 years ) and led them to the right place.

The Bible doesn't say where Jesus was born, which means not only is there no clear evidence he was born in a cave or stable or any other unusual place, but the fact that the location isn't mentioned is powerful evidence against any such locations. If he had been born in a cave or stable or anywhere outside such a remarkable thing would surely have been highlighted in Luke's account not only for the novelty but also since it would fit so perfectly with the humble circumstances that are mentioned. So Luke's lack of this info strongly suggests Jesus was born where babies would be expected to be born, which would be a private home (peasant homes often had a space to bring in the animals at night so there would be a manger).

In front of me, I noticed two stars in the sky one on the left and right, far apart. Unusual in that they were the same brightness. After short while…Suddenly, a very bright star which wasn’t there moments before appeared, much brighter than the others. The right Star that was there before zoomed straight to the left under the bright one that appeared, and the bright one disappeared. The two stars were much closer together now, but the road started to bend and curve and I lost sight of them. I believe that much of the ufo stuff are our vehicles, and much of the rest the fallen and their creations. However. Some could be of God and good, it’s hard to say. Since then though, I believe what I saw could have been similar to something like what appeared to the magi. I believe UFOs will be part of the great deception.

Are you stupid or what? The birth of Jesus was only announced to humble shepherds - these shepherds were the only ones who visited Joseph and Mary at the time shortly after Jesus' birth. The manifestation of these spirit creatures and the announcement of Jesus' birth was only made to certain shepherds in a field - not to anyone else. No one else would have seen this. The astrologers were magic-practising priests - they were looking for omens, something that is condemned in the bible - God does not reveal spiritual matters to those who affiliate themselves with the dark arts that are of satanic origin. Satan's intention was to have Jesus killed and after arriving in Jerusalem, the astrologers were sent by Herod to find Jesus so that he could have him killed - God did not lead the astrologers to Jesus - whatever sign was given them to locate the house were Jesus and Mary were staying some 2 years later, was not of divine origin. However, these astrologers were later warned not to return to Herod. In the bible these 'magi' are not viewed in a favourable light. Also, spirit creatures such as angels do not fly to be seen by others as you have suggested - it would be absurd for angels to lead astrologers to Jesus knowing that these 'magi' were on a mission from King Herod who wanted to have Jesus killed. Your thinking is not based on scripture or sound reasoning.

My belief comes from childhood traditions. If you look historically most people, Catholic and Protestants always put an angel at the top of the tree, even the movie Its A Wonderful Life had an angel at the top of the tree. In our house, Catholic, the angel decoration was always the most treasured and protected adornment for the tree. I think Christians instinctly knew it was an Angel who guided The Magi to The Christ Child. Stars didnt come to be popular till the late 60s or 70s, with the introduction of the space program and the popularizing of astronomy, and the search for natural explanations of supernatural events in the Bible. Just look at all the people trying to explain away the parting of the Red Sea Yes, The Bible contains alagories and poetic language, but thats just how writers write. The writers were just trying to convey what they saw, or were told by God The Holy Spirit in the easiest to understand wording. They were not trying to hide great secrets of God, they were trying to get Gods Word out.

Change me and take me into the heavens. Or other things were done to me. And then I was merged and to God's own. Being to be made one with God. I have spent my life doing miracles and having the most incredible experiences you can imagine, but now the warning is gone out. You might think we're living in the end days. But you have no idea what we're facing. You probably won't live long enough to see most of the bad stuff. With your children and grandchildren, will you need to help spread the information? You need to help people see it and realize it's more important than anything in this world.

@@jenna2431 Matthew 2:2 “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:9 After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was. That does sound odd. Unless they could only tell a general area at first, and after they left Herod's place something changed and they were able to be directed more precisely. The star was clearly moving, so it was only precisely able to show where Jesus was when it was over that spot.

Matthew 2:9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. English teacher here... Just taught modifiers a couple weeks ago. Modifier phrases, as a general rule, follow directly behind the noun they modify. I'm no Greek scholar, but I do believe the translators were in both languages. 😉 Adverb phrases can come either before or directly after the verbs they modify. "In the East, they saw a star..." where they were when they saw the star.

Agree. The wise men traveled to Jerusalem knowing that they were looking for a Jewish king. Once they were there they had to inquire about the new king because they had no idea exactly where he was to be located. King Herod gave them a direction, which they went towards and while they were on their way they saw the star again--the same star that they had seen while they were in the East.

The star they saw was in the constellation Virgo and at that point in history there was movement that brought a luminous body back and forth finally settling at the appropriate place temporarily in that constellation. Claiming Jesus was 2 is total fiction! They, Mary and Joseph, went to Bethlehem to be counted in the census. When the census concluded they most likely would have returned to Nazareth as soon as Mary was able to travel. Probably a few weeks at most. The warning about Harod’s decree to kill any male child under 2 years old. If Harod thought Jesus was 2 years old he probably would have had male children 4 and under killed. Furthermore, child and infant and even baby are all terms that are interchangeable. As far as being in a house, who’s to say the owner of the stable didn’t take pity on them and as soon as there was room they were allowed into the house. So the whole concept that Jesus was 2 when the wise men arrived is pure speculation.

@@jimharris5049Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. Matthew 2:16 KJV This verse is quite obvious that there was a passage of time, from the time Herod spoke to the wise men to the time that they should have came back and reported to him where the child was which is why he had children from two and under killed to ensure that he would end the new King of the Jews before his reign could even begin. Even if the wise men were riding horses or camels it most likely took them weeks probably even months before they reached their destination.

You are absolutely correct, Tamlyn. Herod carefully inquired as to when the star appeared, the Bible says, and based his extermination order on that. While he was brutal, we wasn't sloppy. Herod would not have killed 2 year old toddlers if he thought he was looking for a baby that was a few days old. The mercilessness and intentionality of Herod's barbaric act is very clearly indicated. "When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi. " Matthew 2:16

What some do not take in account is that the wise men started their journey when the star first appeared. How long did that journey take? 3 months? 6 months? A year? We do not know. So they could have to Herod they saw the star up to a year before the birth. Thus Herod could have thought the baby Jesus was already a year old. That is my point, we DO NOtT know so it is just an interpretation to some that Jesus was 2 because of the decree Herod made. So believe what you want. I believe if God wanted the wise men to be at there at or near the birth of CHRIST surely He could place a star for the Wise men in the sky for them to see months before CHRIST was born as well as have it directly above Bethlehem when He was born. Do not be fooled by false teachings.

A star is an object of bright light. Angels are beings of light. With this said, as far as I'm concerned, it was an angel that led the wise men to the spot where Jesus was, because a celestial star is not able to get up and move, as described in scripture, then hover over a spot where the family was staying at. This object of light would have to be in very close proximity to the house where Joseph, Mary, and Jesus were staying when they were visited by the magi/wise men, otherwise the highlighted area would not have been possible. Since angels were participants in the announcement to both the parents of John the Baptist and then about the incarnation & conception of Jesus to Mary, and in the process of time announcing His birth to the shepherds since there were nobody around to do so, then leading the magi to Jesus from Jerusalem, and finally warning both the wise men and Joseph of imminent danger... only leaves one or two possible options; it was either an angel, or as the presenter suggested... that maybe it was the Shakina Glory of God that showed the wise men the way to go.

I think that most scientific findings that prove Biblical facts and events are amazing. I always find that when the Bible is truly understood from the original languages, it will align with science and science with align with the Biblical description. However, that fact that a miracle IS a miracle, is because no man or natural occurrence can create it. The Star of Bethlehem is one such example. Astronomers have tried to link the Star to a natural convergence of natural stars coming together at one time. I believe that is was a very special supernatural light much like the Shekinah Glory of God.

The Chinese recorded a comet in that time frame so the Magi would have seen it traveling east and realized it's importance as a harbinger of fate and gathering gifts started following it. In Matthew the text clearly states after leaving Jerusalem the Magi followed the star until it was over the place where Jesus was at. Now if you look on a compass you will see Bethlehem is south south west of Jerusalem. So did the star alter it's course from Jerusalem? Or is there an error in Mathew?
