Labeling people that care about the game and want it to succeed as toxic, is toxic. That is exactly why those people left after sticking around so long, and why the community left is so small.

Yea, he really is speaking how it actually felt without any sprinkles. Been Quiting for more than a year, and still looking at his content once in a while to get an honest opinion about the game, so i can decided wether to dive in again or not.

I would agree with you other times but right now it's a bad take. We just got new story, nameless city, getting line strikers and then MARS in the next coming month. NGS getting a lot of stuff these few months

@@HMNNO fair but unfortunately aside from the nameless city i don't think any of that is actually substantial long term, the story could be but there's no real assurance of that because they have dropped good parts then nothing for years at a time.

Surprisingly crammed August/September. I didn't expect Ordinal to get any more attention. SEGA seems extremely geared toward working around players moving on from stuff really fast, and only coming back every few weeks. Quest structures are actually geared toward making grinding efficient on paper, but that also affects the rates, which is why most players without TONS of time put into those grinds consider rare stuff impossible. But I have to agree, the overall drop structure doesn't help make grinding that interesting. Nameless also has a type of drop you can get all the time, which was a good idea, but I wish they'd added Wingards in there as a remote chance. Still, if this game's struggle to figure out what people truly consider to be 'content' is any indication, I think the answer is becoming increasingly clear. Areas, enemies and story beats still have the biggest effect on how the game feels. If the story's frozen in time, that makes the game feel like it's going nowhere as a whole. I genuinely feel that games heavily rely on their entire combination of elements to work, and that isolating the playable bits will inevitably lead to the feeling that something is missing. When the game as a whole feels like it's moving on, ironically, a lot of same-y elements being present, but updated a bit or remixed tends to go quite unnoticed. At the end of the day, a game is still an illusory experience more than a physical one.

Another thing to note: the complaints about a lack of story quests. People are missing the fact that we have an Episode-end EQ on the roadmap - story stuff will be released incrementally leading to that (as how Story content is released in base) As someone who played this game for years now, I do not touch Story quests unless it's a requirement for a quest/a clear campaign is ongoing/a crucial reward material is linked to it - it's as good as filler to a lot of people. Do understand this is coming from someone who had to slog through the original version of the Matter Board/Matrix.

​@@mirumizure : Prior to this I don't think we've ever gotten any story updates that weren't mentioned beforehand, so I'm not surprised people are concerned with its absence, though them having just a Line Strike row instead of including it in one of the rows allows for story to just be unconfirmed as of now. Story means different things to different people, but gives an impression of the game's overall progress, indicating how the game's creative vision is shaping up, its scope, and a sense of how much the parent company might be investing in it. It serves as the game's own internal advertising, showing off what players can expect from it without making specific promises, generates external attention, and ultimately by bringing in players that are more directly interested in that world, provides the population that draws in more extroverted players that are looking more for other people to interact with.

It just doesn’t have resources. They have to rehash things and do half anniversary events to fill time. Time until what though, there’s nothing big on the horizon to wait for. It’s different arrangements of old assets dropped in with no context.

I've been on a extended break from the game and I have missed NOTHING! I will only come back for more story content that will have me play for about maybe an hour or 2 then I'll leave again.

Absolutely loved your closing thoughts! I actually agree with you on most of it, i get tired of some NGS creators tryna upsell the stuff Sega throws at us instead of being down to earth about it! I do feel like we're in this loop of it gets boring, or not rewarding. That happens to some content and rare drops, they dont drop until you no longer need it anymore, and some content becomes a fomo thing not a necessary thing.

Another hot take, just my opinion, i think the "End game content" being these 4 man quests that are super hard (more like mechanic spamming) are counter intuitive to MMO's in general. I think we should have end game content that allow 12 or 16 members, split into 3-4 teams. Each team fights a boss. Once your boss is defeated you go to the next section and kill adds until the other teams kill their boss. When all 3 or 4 bosses are killed it spawns the final boss, in which all 12 or 16 members hard focus together. This creates the teamwork and memories on an MMO. Then just add a penalty system for AFKERS(auto kick if afk for to long) and people who Abandon quest 2-3 times in a row, blocking them from queueing for like 45mins. People play these games to look badass, feel badass and most of all, BE BADASS WITH YOUR FRIENDS OR PEERS.

I completely agree with your closing thoughts. The content announced seems only good enough for players to stick around, but to me as a former player, it's not convincing enough to pick up the game again.

Game needs a random map generation free repeatable trigger. A.k.a an actual dungeon system. With real rewards, it's expensive enough to gear already.

i'm really hoping that they just didn't mention story updates and major target suppressions on the roadmap (like solus r2) and not that we have to wait 9 MONTHS for a follow up to chapter 7

Totally agree brother. There's a lot of mid on that roadmap. Im excited for Mars, the tech arts but not too much elese. And even if i can find a couple other things that interest me on there. Its always spread out too much with tons of filler in between.

I quit last june and started again at the beginning of this june. Been having some fun but overall I don't feel like I missed very much and I have a feeling I'm going to be taking another year long break after I get bored of Mars and line break in another month or so.

Problem I have with NGS is that the content gets samey very fast. Take original PSO, despite only having 4, then upgraded to 8 levels in Ep II, each zone had randomized maps to them that kinda staved off the samey feeling. Sure, after tens or even hundreds of hours you started to recognize the maps, but even then the game just felt fun to run. Compare that to something like Leceil exploration and it's literally a grid of squares given themed rooms that are randomized. Honestly there really isn't even any creativity in them because they're just...square rooms. Then the LTQ's as you said are just the same content every single time. I also agree with you on the combat zones. Those could be a lot more fun if the combat zones actually had challenging randomized bosses like Gal Gryphon paired with some randomized maps or something. The content is engineered to be spammable, bite sized content when the original PSO felt like actual explorations on Ragol. Halpha does not have that feel to me and I am beginning to hate it. For every good step they make, they end up screwing up something else. DOn't even get me started on "rare" enemies.

I was so disappointed with the tech arts delay. I know it happens sometimes but it always felt like tech arts was way too slow already. The system has always felt so incomplete and really will remain incomplete til the 4th one which we're getting who knows when. Aside from mars, that, and maybe the colabs nothing really interests me.

The worst part about the loot in NGS is that while every content drops a bunch of rewards about 99% of the rewards are literally worthless. Like why are we getting a bunch of two year old weapon drops from the latest content? Why are there so damn many augments in the game when only 1% of them are worth using?

I hope the inclusion of Gal Gryphon is incorprated in the story since its creation in the original pso is narratively similar to the state of NGS and halpha being an experiment similar to pioneer 1 and 2.

I thought Force was going to get a re-vamp but its Techter and again too :(... I don't think its a finalized version of the road map, but its looking pretty bad on the gameplay, mechanics, class, skills, techniques, and functionality-wise; except for the MAR's system and a few little things in there that maybe just be a rehash from base. What I thought NGS story would have done is brought about new system's based on the storyprogression, in-line with their advancement against the enemy. Like the MARS system can make sense at this junction in time, to combat the Starless, who are said to be stronger then the Dolls/current Foes. But obviously this can be a long process, depending if and how quickly they bring the story out but that's how I would have done it on one level to make it match the potential of our characters and co.

All my friends quit the game already. I haven't really been playing the game as much ever since SEGA added EX augs and basically said, "lol you actually geared up with our boost campaigns? Delete all of them and start over if you want the last minute EX augs we added, dumbass!" None of my gearing ever seems to stick and SEGA constantly just outdates whatever I get. I'm of the same sentiment that the game is just recycling everything and we're doomed to make laps around Halpha until the end of time. Feels like SEGA just doesn't want me to play their game anymore. They want me to log in just to buy AC scratch stuff or gear capsules that they put behind scratch bonuses, bundles, etc. I'll give other games my time/money since SEGA just doesn't care to give me a fun/rewarding experience. At least that's how it felt all these years.

Maybe I'm huffing copium but this game will be great by 2029 😢 I love phantasy star and I do play ngs when there is an update but end up dropping it a week later because it is continuously a stale experience for me. Love your vids and keep up the good work I hope you are having fun with the game

I still have fun with the game sometimes (streaming it and hanging out with you guys helps a lot) especially when a new piece of unique or challenging content comes out. I love figuring out new things and overcoming the challenge. I just wish that in doing so, there was an incentive to match. Basically 2 things need to change for sure for me to bring hope/excitement back in full force. 1. Fix the rewards to match difficulty or give different activities unique drops. Another part of this is they could limit how many times we can do the harder 4 man content every week but give us substantially more rewards within those limited runs. Not everyone would agree with me there though and I honestly don't think that part needs to happen, its more of a want. 2. The setting needs to expand. Nameless City is a step, its just an incredibly small step. I would love for more instances, open world areas, etc. I wouldn't want it just for the sake of having them however, there would have to be something unique or creative for each gameplay wise like making use of new mechanics (kind of like they are doing with the MARS system and Nameless City Expansion). Instead of churning out LTQs to have some mundane thing every week, have cool things come out instead that are permanent but probably at a slower pace than LTQs. Then attach lore/story to these new locales where possible to really flesh out the game and make it feel alive I know its a tall ask from most likely a small team, but these I believe these have been core issues of the game since launch and they could fix these if they put their all into it

Another core issue that was here awhile was upgrading equipment was painful for all players. While I think it still kinda is with needing a lot to enhance, limit break, potential etc. They really helped with adding Augment Transfer so it feels like you are keeping progress with augments instead of having to start from scratch every time a new piece of equipment comes out which was the biggest headache

I can't stop genuinely enjoying the time I spend playing a bit each day, and a bit more on some days, but I, too wish we'd see some developments that could make it worth recommending outside of its current sphere. It needs a way to expand its horizons quicker, so it can get somewhere more fulfilling in the few years it's likely to want to stick around before it's time for a new PSO. I don't think they're really squandering development manpower so much as lacking it for this team. They have that big project in the background they've mentioned a couple of times that sounds like it's eating up a lot of resources. I dunno how their mashup of Sonic/Yakuza/Persona/NGS will actually turn out, but I hope they have a good plan for it if they're putting that much into it.

My main issue with the game is that it's overall not doing what it set out to do, they didn't upscale base and wanted to make a new game but aren't making use out of it, how is it that base pso2 has more classes, more PAs, more outfits and more zones with a wide variety of quests to choose from, but all NGS can do is quests where you kill trash mobs and maybe sometimes a big guy shows up, and not even making use of it's "open world" engine, everything is still instance and queuing based like Base, so what was the point of making a new game, NGS offers so much less. NGS' only innovation was giving us a better character creator, besides that I think Base is the better game. And don't even get me started on the fact that NGS updates are just porting over stuff from Base, defeating the purpose of them not wanting to upscale Base and wanting to "try something new"

Actually looking forward to M.A.R.S, but everything else is meh. I may give the "Line Strike" a go like I did the Creative Space. I don't expect much from it. At least I have FF14 and other game releases to fall back on. I'm not going to lose my mind if it disappoints, it'll just be par for the course. I still think players ought to be able to farm the bosses for M.A.R.S parts to either customize the mechanics or at least add aesthetics on the M.A.R.S units for the play mode. Side note, it'd be good to have a team limit burst action feature where participating builds up the action bar for a super attack. It would help with team cohesion in the fight. As it stands, everyone does their own thing. It's basically a solo play game with little interaction, other than dropping a heal from a force.

Guess you never played on JP servers. Imagine several months of buster quest or red dragon UQ being the new content. Sega biggest mistake was stuffing the 8 or so years of content into one year for the global server. Made it seem like Sega fast with making good content when it's slow.

I hear you but this is the issue. Its 2024 and the way they drug out base PSO2 just doenst work today. Players have more options and long time pso players like me are older and have more responsibilities which means we cant play for as many hours as we used to. This formula of "Big update followed by months of filler" needs to go away or more people will slowly disappear. I love this game and want it to be great but its nerve-wracking with the way things roll out. I didnt play for like 4 months and came back last month and i feel like i didnt miss much. I leave for months hoping that i will have a ton of cool new content to dive into but thats rarely the case.

I never compare the release schedules because it honestly doesn't matter. Them having a shit update schedule in the past for classic PSO2 doesn't mean they should in the present with NGS. Justifying the present with the past leads to no change

Its been like 4 years and the biggest change we got was creative space. Segas mistake wasn't giving global content at a faster pace they fucked up when they killed pso2. forcing people into the lazy 5yr dress up beta.😒

@@CriticasterQ my only point is I've seen pso2 in way worst situation when it comes to content droughts. Yes it's valid to criticize sega for not changing how it's running pso2 ngs. It's probably sega biggest problem is that they're running ngs the same as pso2 when times have changed and this style doesn't fly with most players nowadays.

The game needs Stuff from base game, they took out and those other races. You know the stuff other players been shooting down? Yea it needs that. We got to stop shooting down ideas and instead improve on their concepts. I feel like it not just a sega problem. but a all of us problem as well (sega is included in that.)

i have noticed more and more that ngs and black desert are basically the same game but BDO has way more to do and is way more fleshed out, but the pve content is basically just pse farming unfortunately while ngs has better content but theres almost none of it, they are both a huge waste of potential imo but if you wanna grind bdo is the way to go, if you want the cool boss fights play ngs like once or twice a year. BDO combat is a lot more engaging so even if youre mostly just grinding at least you can optimize it and challenge your own skill a bit but NGS has nuetered pso2s combat system so pse farming is mind numbingly boring

Quitting and taking a break are 2 different things. If you are quitting that means you are not coming back and giving away your stuff. Taking a break means coming back eventually until something interest you.

Months? That's a gross over exaggeration. If a 20mil weapon is "months" of grinding to you. You're doing something wrong. Meseta is hilariously easy to make. If you're counting on a drop, then that's another problem. But, you can get a Wing quite easily.

@@meronamsamho9410 Chronically online? You can get like 10mil a month passively from just dailies/weeklies. You won't even need gear for most of them. Roughly 10-20 mins a day. You'd be done in less than a week if you were proactive in your meseta collecting. The amount of freebies this game throws at you is astounding. I have no idea why anyone would consider anything in this game a "grind". The only grind is this game is F2P players trying to get cosmetics from the Whales.

The devs mentioned Line Strike was something done completely outside of development time for the game because it was something the staff volunteered to do on their off time. Felt I should clear that up a bit for those who haven't read that interview yet.
