It's a slight extension of what we have in the West. Excusing our authoritarianism because we perceive it to be 'better' than Chinas is silly. The existence of the dark Web is proof that government can and does censor our Internet. Proof of spying on citizens and the Snowden/Assange cases highlight the extent of action taken against those who truly 'speak out'. In Britain, we have seen people jailed for online posts. In regards to raising the prospects of a nation in all of the measures we have, it actually seems MORE desirable to have ultra authoritarian governments as opposed to the covert authorities we have in the west

Even the Dalai Lama has acknowledge the legitimacy of the Panchen Lama designated by the Chinese government. The boy you are discussing grew up as a normal Chinese citizen. The Tibetans have never been more educated, never had more opportunities, regularly study abroad, have their language, culture, and religion preserved and guaranteed. The only people spouting nonsense like you are the ones who don't live in Tibet. Just for context, what was Tibet like under the Dalai Lama's rule? Yes, it was a dictatorship, and yes about 85-90% of the Tibetans were uneducated slaves who could be bought and sold for set prices and frequently had their children sold by their lords, never to be seen again. The Tibetans are happy for the opportunities the CPC has given them.

@dariusgunter5344
@dariusgunter5344 18 күн бұрын
First off that family guy joke is terrible, as a German who knows how people dealt with it that's just not true, most people were quite honest off what they did and how they regretted it, yeah many liked to claim they didn't know or just didn't care but most never tried to hide if they were in the army or whatever. We go about it openly and honest, no one would claim to have not been there. The people who lie about what they did and who they were are mostly SS or worse the once who slipped though the system and the generation of my parents dragged many of these bastards to nürenberg in the 60s, too late for some to get what they deserve but hell I hate that family guy joke because it's an insult and hides the fact how we deal with it here in Germany, how we do things is how every nation should deal with it's past (Japan and the US could learn a lot in that regard). Anyway main topic, the guy never once lied or made false statements at least to my knowledge he has a very warped view of things and he has points. The mini budget example is great, there are logical reasons to prefer Chinas system at least for the Chinese. It's terrible for human rights but he doesn't pretend it's not true he doges around it, justifies it and so on but unless I missed something I think he never denied proven attrocities. It's what most people like to do with their nation, even today the US hides war criminals from Iraq and Vietnam instead of putting them in front of a judge, the french never dealt with all the crimes in Algeria, don't get me started on Britain. He isn't worse or better than any other nationalist, the only difference is he comes from a dictatorship which suppresses people's freedom of expression and he justified hides and construes.

Hey bro, this Chinese guy is not going to disappear anywhere. Both of them meet each other regularly. They know each other very well. Secondly, Chinese people are soft hearted people. But the thing is, Chinese people know how to behave with other people.
@jasonjean2901

Victor Gao did a horrible job debating, that is true. The interviewer, representing both the U.S. and the U.K., both traditionally genocidal states which are both presently supporting an ongoing genocide in Gaza, accused China of "genocide", and one in which no one even claims anyone is dying. Given those facts, you need to appreciate how horrible Gao is at debating, and how good the interviewer was. Gao won't "disappear", but he won't be supported if he tries to represent the China position again.

@@SKINWALKER the American people are sitting here totally aghast as our leaders have clearly gone rogue against us. The issue is, Americans are very hesitant to become violent because we have a LOT of weapons here and it would turn very ugly especially with the media being used against any resistance movement, it could make the whole effort backfire, the military would be activated, and the average American may be manipulated by the media to happily allow the resistance get stomped out and forgotten, nothing would be accomplished. We don’t want to act too soon, before the average oblivious American becomes aware that there is a blatant problem in society. Aside from all of that, we also we have an election coming up, so we’re all holding our breath, hoping that it could be a chance for peaceful progress. After the election…..there may be no choice but to riot and get ugly. Either way, Americans feel very stuck. We are suffering from a widespread delusion and lack of understanding. There are still so many Americans who are not aware, and it seems that we will need to have hard times to snap them back to reality. Only then can a resistance to our corrupt leadership be worthwhile

I don’t understand why the host is surprised by a zero-tolerance policy toward separatist movements. Most countries have fought civil wars due to separatists. The United States has zero tolerance for any separation from the Union. The Chinese methods are harsh, but they cannot afford to collapse into civil war. I’m not a fan of China and would never want to live there. However, it is easy to understand why they do not tolerate separation.

Sometimes I think people actively tries to not understand when it comes to China. Years ago the world(with a small exception) accepted and recognized the Taiwan island as part of China, and now they pretend it didnt happened when it is convenient to their agenda. If Hawaii or some of the caribean island had a separatist movement with foreigner support, it would be also "dealt with swiftly". Now, remember that the US, despite officially acknowledging Taiwan as part of China, has an "ambiguous" politic about it while builds military bases almost surrounding the chinese sea completely.

First up that not in all of the EU, secondly it depends on the post, inciting violence hate speech etc. There are legitimate reasons to go to prison or pay a hefty fine. Here in Germany you can go to prison for Nazi stuff, or get at the very least heavy fines and I support that. We have freedoms of speech, but not freedom for consequences. If you say "kill all Jews" in a serious manner than you get punished for that as it's a call to violence and people die because shit like that. Freedom of speech is important but here in Europe protection against the use of this freedom to attack and hurt people (in serious manners) is important. In the US as far as I know defamation claims are extremely hard to enforce here in Europe most nations have strong laws against defamation, if you say something knowingly untrue which hurts a person career or personal life than you get punished. But if it's true you can say what you want, most famously here in Germany one of the AFD's most distinguished politicians höcke, is one of the very few people who can legally use a fascist as in he sued someone over a FB post where he was called a fascistand the judge decided that due to höckes statements he is a fascist. Now everyone can call him that without fear of reprisal

Interesting premise, and a surprisingly good one. But you obviously haven't looked into the details of the conflicts in the South China Sea. It's not just that all the claimant states have territorial disputes with China, but also that every single claimant state, whether it is Vietnam or the Philippines, also has disputes with every single other claimant state in the South China Sea. American propaganda only mentions the disputes with China, but they neglect to mention that they all have disputes with one another as well. Vietnam claims around 80% of the South China Sea. Also, the origin of disputes matter. When China filed the 11-dash line with the United Nations in 1946, there was not a single objection made by any U.N. country. The disputes came afterwards when newly independent countries decided to make overlapping claims with China in the South China Sea. None of which limit themselves to UNCLOS. You obviously don't look into details regarding the other disputes either. All your claims are problematic, but I don't have unlimited time, so I'll address one. China had no territorial disputes with Japan until 2012. So, how did this happen? Japan "nationalized" the Diaoyu/Senkaku islands. What does that mean? It means that, despite how China has claimed those islands since before WWII (Imperial Japan annexed them from China in WWII), Japan made the ridiculous claim that they weren't claimed by anyone and then claimed them for the first time in 2012. This is blatant expansionism, supported by the U.S. (which quickly expanded its defense treaty with Japan to cover the new islands).

Those CCP little pinks who like to give examples of American states wanting independence may not know that Taiwan has its own independent constitution, passport, president, military, tax system, education, and diplomatic missions. Such as everything that every independent country should have, and 12 countries have recognized this fact. Although it still needs work, the fact is that it is truly an independent country. In addition, Taiwan's passport is one of the most practical passports in the world, and it has obtained visa-free treatment for 144 countries, while China's passport has only 55. When you travel overseas, at the customs at each country's airport, they will ask Chinese and Taiwanese to go to different channels, and tell you "You are Taiwanese, please go there and queue up (usually a convenient automatic customs clearance system)" ), and the Chinese need to join the long line. If you are a Taiwanese, would you want to be unified by China?

You missed something important. As Kishore Mahbubani, the former President of the U.N. Security Council, has pointed out: Taiwan's 12 remaining diplomatic "allies" don't recognize Taiwan as being separate from China. They recognize Taiwan as being the legitimate government of all China, as its own constitution states. In other words, they view Taiwan as a part of China. In fact, there is not a single goverment, anywhere in the world, including Taiwan, which views Taiwan as being separate from China. The joke is that Taiwan and the U.S. governments bribe and threaten the 12 small remaining countries to continue recognition of Taiwan as the legitimate government of China. Also, the fundamental problem with the idea of Taiwan as a "sovereign" country is that, as the former President Donald Trump pointed out, Taiwan still owes $1 Trillion in bonds to the U.S. government, which they can legally collect at anytime. This means that the U.S. has an "axe" over the entire Taiwanese economy and can easily blackmail them into doing whatever they want. This makes the Taiwanese government incapable of sovereign decision-making.

We can all agree that Mehdi is a very talented interviewer. However he forgets his Indian origins, because, since he insists he’s British, his criticism of dictatorships like China comes across as very two-faced given that the very Britishness he so cherishes is the principal exponent of the greatest dictatorial expansion , mass murder, and, subsequently, the most reluctant renouncement of those annexed territories. In other words the British had the exact same policies as China for hundreds of years, resulted in much greater damage to the world economy except their own, and left their colonies only when there was no choice left. Incidentally the only reason Mehdi is British is because his parents fled war raved India as refugees after the British retreat for a better life in Britain. And what do you think the British did to Mehdi’s ancestors when they demanded freedom for India?Hypocrisy much?
@iliyas868
@iliyas868 2 күн бұрын
I think you got the whole thing wrong. He never said that he cherishes monarchy in Britain but that he can criticise the British while living there and the gentleman being interviewed cannot do that back in China! Now, we can all go back in time n cry on what not but is that a logical fruitful thing to do? What’s the point he gonna make if he criticises someone for something done in the past unless they do something similar at present times.
@mochan8447
@mochan8447 2 күн бұрын
@@iliyas868 Pray, why? Does the passage of time absolve one’s sins? I don’t see why one must gloss over the past of one nation to criticise the present of another. I don’t remember the British ever answering for their crimes so why expect the Chinese to. What I’m trying to say is that both China and Britain have a dictatorial past, with the British outstripping the Chinese 4:1 by timespan making China barely autocratic neophytes. The atrocities perpetrated by the British far surpass anything the Chinese have done so far and yes, they did not tolerate criticism either. The fact that that part of history is not taught in British schools makes it easier to take this holier than thou attitude.
