to add to the two devil fruits discussion (7 months later lol): I think it's pretty certain that Blackbeard holding two powers doesn't have anything to do with the darkness powers per se. At least we can say for sure that taking someone's powers has nothing do to with it, because in the Novel A (which is canon) we were shown that Thatch has eaten the Yami Yami no mi before Blackbeard killed him and somehow took his powers. Also in Dressrosa Burgess said he wants to take Luffy's powers, so there has to be a way to do so that everyone can execute and I don't think it's carrying a random fruit with you so that it gets reincarnated right there, because the guy who explained the cycle in Dressrosa said, the fruit can spawn everywhere in the world and since devil fruits are depicted in an encyclopedia I think it's safe to assume, that the spirit searches for the same fruit it inhabited before as well (Kaku's fruit looked like bananans so I think if he dies the powers will look for bananas again to inhabit), so there must be something else to it. In terms of why Blackbeard can hold two powers three days' theory made me think, what if the Will of D. allows him to do so? Imu mentioned to Cobra that the D. clan members are mere shadows of what they used to be, because they don't know what the D. means and we know the government is concerned about them regardless to an extent, so whatever the D. clan members can do, it's probably rather terrifying for the government and what's more terrifying than a bunch of people defying you, holding at least two devil fruit powers. Blackbeard seems to know much more and in the Vivre Card databooks it was mentioned that his real life job would be archeologist, the same as Robin, so I don't think it's a stretch at all to assume that Blackbeard knows a similar amount of truth about this world as she does, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he actually knows about the Will of D. and that's why he is so hyper fixated on fate, since at least in my opinion the concept of inherited will and the concept of fate have a similar notion to them if we consider that there seems to be a prophecy of some sort going on in the world of One Piece. I think three day might not be too far off here, I can totally see the Luffy and Law situation to be hinting at this being the case with actual devil fruit powers as well, even if they're maybe only emulating different powers with their own; classic oda foreshadow if it was 😄

to tackle the Kuma/Blackbeard race debate, I think it's highly unlikely that their optical resemblance has anything to do with it, because if you could tell someone's a Buccaneer by looking at them, Clap asking the doctor to hide the DNA (or whatever exactly it was) wouldn't make any sense, since you would be able to tell by looking at Kuma. Also Vegapunk found out Kuma is a Buccaneer due to his DNA (or whatever exactly it was lol) and was hella surprised. Why would he be so surprised if his looks were evidence enough to tell. So I think it's safe to assume that the Buccaneer's are special for a different reason than their sturdy bodies
