Theres 5 teams in contention, my order from most to least likely is: 1. Tulane 2. Memphis 3. UTSA 4. Boise State 5. Liberty. All the AAC teams have the schedule that could allow them to lose 2 games , while boise state might could manage to lose 1 game but liberty absolutely has to go undefeated and would probably still need all the other teams i mentioned to have 2 losses and might even need more than that when you look at how close smu was to being ranked higher than them last year , if its not the AAC Champ id be suprised

@@jacksonperry23 OOC G5 teams they beat - Bowling Green (7-6) - 4th in the MAC. Bufallo (3-8) - 10th in the MAC. Old Dominion (6-7) - 7th in the Sun Belt, Umass (3-9) - Ind, Literally did not play a top 3 G5 team in any conference and you act like they are clearly superior to other teams...... The 2nd best team in the CUSA got WAXXED by the 6th best team in the MWC, and even lost to the 8th best team in the MWC. The 3rd best team in the CUSA got WAXXED by the 4th best team in the Sun Belt.

Liberty has has a strength of schedule problem because the rest of CUSA (accept NMSU and JAX State) underperformed. Not our fault. You guys act like your teams are truthfully playing power five schools because they want to test themselves, which is hilarious. Those schools are playing those games because they get a payout for them. Their hope is that they will also be competitive in some of those games or win because they get to double dip in doing so. Liberty is a financially well off institution, that does not have to play those games. Additionally, liberty has tried to schedule these games and it has been said repeatedly by our AD that teams are not looking to schedule with us. This is two fold in my opinion: 1) schools do not view liberty as an easy win, given our history 2) moving forward power five programs are not wanting to schedule games against group of fiveschools. Liberty joined a new conference and had to reschedule its long-standing games with power five schools in order to accommodate the Conference schedule. other G5 programs have had their long-standing games remain intact. However, moving forward, it seems like many of these games are in Jeopardy.

@@johnt3844 The problem with the sentiment that teams dont view Liberty as an easy win is that there are other teams who have been able to routinely get not only Power 5 matchups but very likely ranked P5 matchups and historically these G5 teams are seen as a far harder win.

For Liberty to get in, we have to run the table and the other group of five champs need to have two losses. Also, the "why don't they play anyone" argument is getting tired. They lost a lot of marquee games off their future schedules when they joined a conference. However, that is the cost of doing business in getting access to the new year's six bowl and the playoffs. They will add back those power 4 games in the future but people forget schedules are done so far in advance in football.

Yeah that argument of “weak schedule, they don’t play anyone”, can be dismissed within 5 seconds of looking it up. I expect us to run the table and make the playoff. With a win in Boone, I’m confident we can have it locked down.

If thy go undefeated they should get it, but its problematic that yall dont play any Power teams last year, this year and in fact for the next 3 years. It looks kinda sus to say "oh but scheduling takes forever", when Boise State literally closed a road game at ND NEXT YEAR in the last 2 months. BSU and a lot of the MWC lost games with the PAC collapsing, and while it is a bit unfair to compare Boise to other teams, especially relatively new teams after losing 8 years of opponents with conference realignment they have been able to secure games against - Oregon (2), Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Louisville (2), KState (2), Cincinatti (2), Houston, UNC, Minnesota, BYU (3), Washington State (2), Oregon State (2), UCLA and Oklahoma State.

Not how that works , they have to be a conference champion and smu had 2 more losses than liberty and was just 1 spot behind them, simply because they had a real schedule, and Teams like Tulane, Memphis and UTSA have a very respectable schedule and it would not suprise me at all if one of those Teams was ranked higher than Liberty , even with 2 losses , especially after SMU was 1 spot behind them last year , and the committee had to watch the bloodbath that was that Liberty vs Oregon game.

Joining CUSA, we had to go with the conference schedule, also had several P5 teams like South Carolina, not want to reschedule because we weren’t an easy G5 win, as seen the year previous. It has nothing to do with Liberty not wanting P5 opponents.

To be fair to Liberty Oregon made a lot of P5 teams last year look bad. Utah, Stanford, Oregon State, Arizona St, Cal, Colorado all got blown out as well, and they have more resources than Liberty. And Liberty lost by less than some of them.

There is only one time in history multiple G5 teams have made the prime post season bids and that was 2009. Id argue more seasons had multiple G5 teams that were obviously deserving, but if we use this season as a bar there is no scenario that 2 G5 teams make the CFP Playoff. 2009 MWC TCU - beat the ACC Atlantic Champ on the road and 2 more Top 25 teams - beat ranked opponents 97-35 - ranked #4 in total offense, ranked #1 in total defense - averaged a 29.8 margin of victory per game 2009 WAC BSU - Destroyed the PAC Champ in OOC, beat 1 more Top 25 team - beat ranked opponents 77-32 - Back to Back undefeated seasons - 3rd undefeated season in 4 years - ranked #1 in total offense, ranked #9 in total defense - averaged a 28.9 margin of victory per game Basically to replicate for this season - Memphis, App State, Boise State, South Florida, or UTSA would have to sweep their schedule AND, play phenomenal the ENTIRE year. Going undefeated wasnt enough, beating P5 opponents wasnt enough, these teams had to show that nobody was on their level the entire year. You get into the latter half of your schedule against G5 teams and you arent going to get the benefit of doubt regardless of G5 talent. You have demolish to your opponents. last 5 games of LIberty's schedule Liberty won - 234-118. The two above teams won: TCU - 246-60 (literally includes a ranked road win); BSU - 256-88.
