I agree with you all day long. Two-tone is underrated (read: not-hyped) in recent years but it is worth more and cost Rolex more to make it. I recently bought a DJ 16013 with gold linen dial and bezel from a dealer for a seriously depreciated price. Not everyone’s choice but I love it (and that’s what it’s all about). I agree with the comment about not buying into the hype and buying something as an investment. Buy what you want and plan to cherish and wear, rather than making a quick buck. Be part of the watch community, not just another way to line your pockets. I could care less what the watch I purchase is worth as soon as I walk out or projected value as I wear them and only buy what I plan to keep. With that being said, it may just be me and the way I think about things that I own or purchase, but I like to be the first owner and have things brand new, so I'm willing to put the wait time in at the AD. Yes I may miss out on opportunities or have to wait an extended time for something, but it doesn't bother me.

Car wise, I've been through a ton since I left KZbin....I've bought and sold the C5 Vette, the LS430, a Lexus GS350 F-Sport, a Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 (6spd manual), a GX460 Lexus and now currently have a BMW M-Roadster and 2024 Bronco Heritage, both Manual transmissions : )

Great video! Totally agree on the 116523 or 116503 as bargains for Gold Daytonas. The GMT I would say 116710 over Bruce Wayne, it’s the exact same watch people are paying stupid money for the half grey bezel. I own a Rolex 216570 Polar, MK 2 Cermit Sub and a OP41 Celebration Dial all retail from Rolex, my AD knows I buy pieces to enjoy and I’m super passionate about watches. I still wear my A17321 Superocean Heritage Silver dial from 08 everyday. 4 watches are perfect for my maybe my 5th and last for my 40th in 5 years will be the Daytona you mentioned. Watch market is definitely stabilizing and that’s an amazing thing for watch guys!

You’re absolutely correct about gold and two tone watches being undervalued vs some of the steel pieces. There’s only a handful of steel pieces trading over retail (Daytona, Pepsi, Skydwellers) seem to the last men standing in that regard. The submariners have come down to earth but still a little over retail. I just picked up a mint 18238 1989 Day Date and it’s just so nice, classy, elegant and all gold! For 13,000 you cannot go wrong even if it needs a service soon. That’s about what a new submariner costs steel on the grey!

Yep! I've been buying some precious metal pieces lately. Sooooo much more value there! Not just in Rolex. Couldn't agree more on the titanium YM42. The market price is on par with the gold version of this watch. IMO, the PM versions are twice the watch, with some genuine underlying value. And welcome back...

First time I have heard this 'cost Rolex more to make' line. They make far more profit on precious metal pieces at list, so all you are saying is guys generally do not like gold coloured watches. Sure this means they are a bit of a bargain if you do want to rock a used one one, but that's like anything pre owned if you like the unpopular stuff in odd colours isn't it?

Everything Rolex is still in the lunatic category, but at least it is no longer lunatic on steroids. Personally, I hope for a continued downward trend because even at retail, Rolex is now stupid expensive. Comparing what I make currently vs what I made 10 years ago and comparing all of that to retail pricing = Good Grief! Rolex does not want customers who fail to own an S class or who fly Economy Plus. Just my 2 cents. It's a a pleasure owning my grail Rolex, but have no intention of saving for anything else. The Retirement Fund is far more important.

You realize that most people don't care for two tone and precious metal watches, correct? I would agree with you that watches are not investments, but there is no faster way to take a bath on a watch than by purchasing a precious metal or two tone piece. Even if you purchase a used precious metal piece, its going to lose further value if you ever have to sell it. You will get more out of selling a stainless daytona you purchased used than you would a two tone daytona used. Same for a Sub and GMT. Assuming you want stainless steel sports, the key is to never pay over retail. If people are patient, polite, and persistent they would be surprised what they can get from their AD. Getting a rolex at Retail in not nearly as hard as KZbin would have you believe. However, in our world everyone wants what they want yesterday. For those people, they can pay secondary market prices.

I disagree, Rolex doesn’t use stainless steel, they use oyster steel. I took some Rolex steel and melted it down to make wedding rings, and I’m going to sell the rest on the open market and you watch it’s worth more than gold! 😂

Years ago I was looking for a Pepsi and when I found it and was about to buy it at Chrono-24, they launched the Tudor BB GMT, which I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. The thing you're missing is that if you walk into a room with one of these 'over valued' watches. The women swoon over a Rolex and the watch heads know you have money to burn. They don't think you paid too much, they are annoyed they are too poor. We are people have always respected things that cost a lot and the people who have those things, specifically because they cost a lot. It's called a zahavian signal. Get some.
