@@suzannecarrier287 right?! She is but sometimes the huge amount of junk my husband buys for him, is terribly difficult to ignore lol. Plus I'm trying so hard to keep sweets away from our 7yr old daughter 🙄. I'm having some success with her eating junk all the time. Ofcourse I would never have her do IF but I've read so many other comments of parents who are getting their kids to eat more meat, thank the Lord my kid likes meat. The reason I said all that is because it's easier when you have someone in your family eating the same stuff as we are. I have to say though my main reason for IF is my fibromialgia and severe RA pain. Which is getting better the more I avoid carbs and sugar. You can sure feel it when you eat sugar and carbs. I think initial hunger with any dietary change is related to portion sizes too. I found myself wanting more just because my portion sizes were way to big before. It’s just as much a mental game as it is a physical one. A lot of people wanting to get well have an awful relationship with food. I know I do. Amazing video as always. This one touched on a subject that I actually would love more information on: in detail, how starting your day with certain foods affects the rest of your day. For example, I know that eating an insulin-spiking breakfast backtracks what you're trying to achieve, if that's body-decomposition, but I'm curious about the continued effect it may have on your hormones etc throughout the rest of your day. How does your body spend the rest of the day, after having a huge insulin spike? Does it take a few hours, half the day etc for it to recover equilibrium, or is it playing catch-up until the eating window closes? And the reverse, what specifically (I love the scientific details!) is happening with your body when you have a well-balanced break-fast, and a normal, not extreme insulin rise because you're eating? How does that set you up for success for the rest of your day? Thanks. :)

Isn't eating your calories better than drinking them? The carb addiction doctor Dr. Rob Cywes always advises to sit down to a meal and to eat your calories not drink them. It depends on what we're talking about - calories from sugar/carbs or calories from fat/protein. These are VERY different things. Chewable meals are great, but high quality protein, fat and fiber smoothies that are low in sugar are still able to stimulate the satiety hormones and help prevent hunger.
@MF90002 жыл бұрын
@@AutumnBates Dr. Cywes advises that it is better to eat your calories than to drink them. I see however that drinking smoothies is working for you. It may be directed more to those that easily fall off the wagon so to speak. I think by making yourself eat at the table it trains you that when at the table that is when you eat. Making it a "ritual " of it is probably what some folks need to stay away from overeating. I appreciate your response.

@celticlass85732 жыл бұрын
Because IF has nothing to do with Keto. If you choose to combine them that's for you to decide, but it's not Keto. IF isn't even low-carb. All it does is mostly avoid carbohydrates that massively spike your insulin. Autumn limits her grains because she does better without them, but she's not against grains for people without carbohydrate sensitivity. :)

I was thinking it might be fun and beneficial to have a challenge, where people for say a week or 10 days, explore foods for their break-fast, that aren't the western idea of breakfast. I've found it much easier, and much more interesting/delicious, to stay away from insulin-spiking foods to break my fasting window, after I spent the time breaking my idea of what "breakfast food" is. When I started eating healthier, I realized that most of the foods that people eat in the west for breakfast are unhealthy, and while some are healthy, what you're actually left with is not a lot of variety. I found that very difficult, because I'm not someone who can eat the same thing every day for months on end. The food I eat also needs to be tasty, there's no way I could choke down healthy but unsatisfying foods (or worse, foods that I just don't like) each day. How miserable! So I started to explore outside the "western idea of breakfast" box, and boy oh boy has it been interesting and delicious!

This video kinda really doesn't apply to me at all, because I've eschewed all of the GARBAGE "foods" that she shows in this video, many years ago... It's been YEARS since I put ANYTHING but whole foods in my body. I do want to challenge this idea that "ALL" of the effects of fasting can be reversed though... I've never heard this before; what's more it doesn't make sense! I don't believe that autophagy can be "reversed". I believe that a person can do unhealthy things that causes a slow down in the natural metabolic processes of the body, but once old, dying, senescent cells are consumed, I don't believe they can come back. I would ask to see the science on "reversing" all of the effects of fasting, but I'm pretty sure there is none. Of course we're all going to continue aging, and we're all going to die eventually, but this is really distinct from her assertions in this video.
@AutumnBates2 жыл бұрын
Yup, there are autophagy perks to be sure. But as the title of the video mentions, I'm discussing the weight loss perks of Intermittent Fasting. And unfortunately a lot of people are completely reversing much of (if not *all of*) the weight loss perks that they would have received from the fast itself with what they're eating during the eating window.
