Also, John, was the son of a temple priest. The priests were of the line of Aaron, who chose the spotless lambs for sacrifice. So it was John's birthright to choose the lamb without blemish.

Yes, John's father was Zechariah. If we remember, Zechariah refused to believe the angel Gabriel and as a result was struck mute until John was born. The first words (that I know of) he spoke were "his name is John" at the infant John's Presentation and Circumcision.

@@kyrythkessler1316 , a tangent here, but I believe Zechariah was also made *deaf* by Gabiel. The reason I think this is because in order to communicate with Zechariah after the child's birth, the friends had to write on a tablet.

Your right, John did pave the way for Jesus arrest and persecution. But also this same Jesus, discussed with His Father the choosing of the Apostles, which included Judas, who would bring about His arrest. The Lord Jesus Christ as always was in control, and THAT is why I am a Brother in Christ 2,000 yrs later, by His Grace and Mercy. Blessed be the name of The Lord, my Lord.

Both John and Jesus were obedient to God’s will. God had His master plan, and neither of them would nor could change that. It was a beautiful but heartbreaking plan for our salvation but without it we were doomed. Jesus did ask at one point if the “script” could be rewritten well-knowing that wasn’t a possibility. And as much as it is painful to even try to imagine the excruciating pain He went through to save us, we are literally and eternally grateful for His sacrifice. ❤ Thank you Jesus. 🙏🏻

All things work together for good . All our choices good and bad. It took people to reject Messiah and it took people to run the nails into His hands. He came to give His life fir the sins of the world. He came to His own but His own did not receive Him. What if they had accepted Him as messiah. They didn't and crucified Him yet He gave himself willingly. All things work out together fir good. Prepared in the foreknowledge of God as a Lamb slain from before the foundation of the world.

Remember John answered the Pharisees when they asked who John was. He said "I will say who I am not."

One additional point is that Mark 3:6 tells us that … “the Pharisees went out and started plotting with the Herodians against him, how they might kill him.” One of the things the Sabbath laws forbid is "planning work." Not only could you not work, but could not plan work. So they broke the Sabbath themselves.

Yes, but remember both Jesus and John knew the Plan and what they were talking about. God planned all this before creation! Plus, no matter what Herod or Pilate said, Jesus would've nailed Himself to the cross if he'd had to in order to save us.

Yes, John does help to pave the way for those events to unfold. But let us not forget that it was God's PLAN for things to unfold the way they did, in order to accomplish HIS plan. The plan to redeem man from eternal damnation. God, and ONLY God, could accomplish that. And all the details and seemingly small incidents and events that were included in that plan worked in tandem to accomplish it. I never do get over how SMART and wise God is. He thinks of everything. Literally EVERY THING.

The Law prohibits fasting and mourning in the presence of a bride groom. His disciples were following The Law by not fasting while Christ was resent. There are also two kinds of fasting - fasting during holidays like Yom Kipper, and personal fasting. The seeming times Christ violated Torah are removed when you come to understand the difference between Halakha and Rabbinic law. Christ was a Torah adherent, orthodox Jew.

I've read in Luke, that Herod would go down to John's prison cell in secret to speak with him, as he was intrigued by him. When Herodias told he daughter to ask for John's head, he was saddened, but didn't want to look bad in front of the others. He was a vain and cowardly man.

Also my understanding of the Herodians was they were an aristocratic Jewish sect who favoured the policies of Herod Antipas and supported the Roman government. The first prophecy of that is in Genesis where God curses the serpent (Satan) and speaks of the coming Messiah saying to the serpent "You will bruise His heel and He will crush your head". Hi Brandon--I wanted to ask you about a bible verse you were reading from and what was pulled up in the video at location 6:43--it was showing Exodus 31:14-15 but you were reading from Mark 3:1-6

I noticed that too. Exodus 31:14-15 simply states that God told Moses to tell the Israelites to observe the Sabbath, or perish. 14 “‘Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it is to be put to death; those who do any work on that day must be cut off from their people. 15 For six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death. Jesus's actions were not adhering to this long standing law. It was obviously blasphemous, so why did He do these things? Why did He perform miracles and ask that the person tell no one? Why did He perform miracles in front of Pharisees? He changed and confirmed everything. These questions seem impossible to understand but not when connected with God's will. God's love for us is serious, serious enough that He gave His Only Son for the forgiveness of our sins. (It was so beloved to see that The Chosen depicted John seeing a lamb before he died.)

Christ Jesus isn't folklore. There's historical record of thousands of witnesses to Jesus's miracles and over 500 eye witnesses to Jesus rising from the dead. Do you have thousands of witnesses to something you've done. No none of us do. But we are real. The Bible is used as historical record.Jesus actually provided proof that He is God incarnate He not only fed the multitudes with a few loaves of bread and fish walked on water healed the blind and the lame raised Lazarus from the dead after being dead for four days. But Jesus died on the cross for you for me for all of mankind and rose from the dead. There is no sin and no fault and no hate in Jesus. Yet He was spit on tortured beaten and crucified to suffer on the cross because He loves you that much. It's a gift of grace that you can never earn. All Jesus asks is that we accept the gift. That's how real and loving Christ Jesus is, Jesus is the only real form of love that's walked this earth. buddha's grave still has buddahs bones in it muhammads grave still has bones it. Jesus tomb is empty. The only one. That's why Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. It's a gift of love and forgiveness why wouldn't you accept love and forgiveness for someone that died for you before you were even born?

Isaiah 40 prophesy of John the Baptist and Jesus. John 1:31-34 God clearly explains to John the Baptist how he will know who is His Son, the Spirit descended and remained on Him.
