Did anyone notice when Jesus and the disciples were leaving the pagan temple at Caesarea Philippi, as Little James was bending over to pick his pack up off the ground, Jesus said "let me get that for you" and helped him pick it up? This minor little scene was so significant and encouraging to me who has some physical issues myself.

yes, I got shivers...I don't care if it wasn't in the Bible, it was "real". I pray Judas got that 7x77 forgiveness too since in his deep, dark despair, he couldn't see the light of Jesus. I hope when seeing him after death, he said "Im sorry" We never heard Peter say it to Jesus but we know he did.

Very good explanation. And yes they show the scene of Peter being angry and yelling at God from his boat and Jesus’ miracle of the fish and Simon Peter kneeling before Jesus telling him to “part from me for I am a sinful man” hence making Peter realize he was also unworthy but was forgiven. This makes Peter realize he has received grace and must also give it. This was a great episode

yes, a very good explanation, totally omitting the fact that Jesus spoke in Aramaic, saying, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah! For this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by My Father in heaven. *And I tell You that You are Kephas, and on this Kephas* I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it." and He added "I will give *You* the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever *You* bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever *You* loose on earth will be loosed in heaven".… Just a minor detail.

Season 4 episode 2 was deepppppppppppp!!!!! It brought me to tears and reminded me of our Christ teachings that we all have sinned and come short of Gods glory. No one is good but God. And how we must confess our faults to one another. Isn't it just like us humans to play the blame game about who has done who wrong but forget that we all offend and commit sins against one another. That point itself should have brought all of us to tears who are in Christ!

This episode reminded me of a personal situation of mine. A family member did great harm to me growing up. I grew up resenting her, looking at her as inferior, and I asked God continually to change her. What do you think God did? He showed me where HE blessed me. HE made me strong, and while I was praying for him to change this person, he showed me that I was the one that needed to change. Luckily, The Lord revealed this to me about a year before the person that I am referring to suddenly died. This is my testimony. This is the time when Jesus showed me what mercy truly looks like. It’s when you are justified in your pain/anger, you have every right to turn away from this person, but you don’t. The reward….this person changed when they saw the change in me. I stopped judging and being so sanctimonious. This person then pulled even closer to The Lord. I was the one that really needed changing.😢. So thankful for the lesson. I could have so easily missed it. The Holy Spirit woke me from my flesh self. This is a story that I reflect on often. This show here, it drove the message home once more.

I loved your video. This episode pointed out why Peter was called the rock. He had risen higher spiritually than the other disciples in understanding. He recognized the true Christ as the only living Truth, the light that lifts and pulls us out of darkness. All these episodes help us deal with real problems today just as they faced in those days. God’s goodness and love is constant, eternal!

You could really feel how much Matthew suffered for the guilt and shame that he carried over his past, and how touched he was to finally receive Peter's forgiveness. What makes it really difficult in life is when the person we need to forgive is not sorry at all. I know we must forgive them anyway, but is so much easier if there is some humility and a genuine apology.

Forgiveness isn’t just saying you forgive. The resentment can still sit in the heart and find its way back into the mix somehow someway. The depth of someone’s ability to understand forgiveness is deeper than the person who seeks to be forgiven.

That can feel very freeing -- and-- some wisdom. Periodically over your lifetime, tiny bits of *completely repressed* emotional and/or forgotten bits of baggage may surface, like a bubble, to be *processed* . Do not be dismayed.. Take your time. Present it to The Lord... then should you feel the Lord nudge, do 'the work' recommended by earthly counselors. Example, Journal for a bit, eg write the emotion you feel, and 'what it was', in the Right Now, that could have brought this up again? .. Perhaps... Is there some warning you need? eg, Some relationship you have entered, that your subconscious (via Holy Spirit) is making a connection to...? Perhaps there are red flags that you didn't fully realize about the person, or relationships, until this emotion or memory surfaced...? People who have *been* abused sometimes don't fully realize or recognize 'clues'?, but The Holy Spirit (your Counsellor) *can reveal* these. See your pastor/deacons, prayer warriors. Even a trained expert in your area. Work it OUT, okay?? Don't be disappointed in yourself. You Are a Beautiful Human 🌹🦋 (I'm a 69yo survivor ..) Please Remember to be good to yourself, get into Scripture!!!, pray, and pray WITH someone you can confide in and trust. KNOW that "This too shall pass." You'll feel better, stronger, wiser. .. And as Jesus told Peter: afterwards, 'Go Stenghthen Others'. Much Love To You! And Prayers to Seal what Healing has occurred, and that you become Fully Completely Delivered , In Jesus Name 🙏🕊💕

I see a lot of comments asking about subjection to our offenders and if forgiving them means this... We can forgive those who hurt us and abused us, but that *doesn't* mean we have to subject ourselves to abuse or danger. In other words, reconciling..You can forgive them without reconciliation. If it's toxic, get away from them asap! If it's like Peter and Matthew's situation, then reconciling is the way to go! It's not like Peter is being constantly abusive and attacking Matthew. I hope this helps!

True ....many pastors preach this to mean that the man or woman in an abusive and dangerous situation must keep forgiving and putting up with that abuse...because our suffering could help to change that person....that's never going to happen.

Thank you for saying this. This is my situation - I've forgiven my mother who hurt me deeply, but she doesnt admit she is wrong and does not repent. and continues the behaviour that is hurtful and wrong. I feel hurt and angry, which led me to believe I hadn't forgiven, until I realised I was having a normal reaction to a behavior that never actually stopped. So, now I am trying to put distance between us, so my forgiveness can be true and real - like the scripture says: "be angry and do not sin." I don't want to continue sinning by being continously angry at this situation. I want to forgive and live in peace.

There is a big mathematical difference between 77 times and 70 times 7 times. 70 times 7 equals 490. Try counting 490 times you forgive someone, and you will definitely lose count and just keep forgiving; which is most likely the whole point of what Jesus was saying to Peter when He advised forgiving 70 times 7 times. Another interesting thing going on in this scene from that Era that I one read about somewhere is that the priests taught that you should forgive someone who wronged you till 4 times; so when asked Jesus if he should forgive till 7 times, he was being generous in comparison to the priests' teaching of forgiving till 4 times. Jesus was saying "Don't limit the number of times you forgive someone who wrongs you."

Finally! Many people believe this scripture means that Hell is the _active_ player and the Church is the _passive_ player. Hell, thus, will not be able to batter down the Church! The meaning, however, is that Hell is the _passive- player and the Church is the _active_ player. Hell will _not_ be able to withstand the Church. Just the opposite of what most churches today believe. It doesn't mean anything in the short term; Hell will not _ultimately_ succeed in its defenses against the Church. The Church will, in the long run, will see death and hell thrown into Outer Darkness.

Hi Brandon. Interesting commentary. For me as a Catholic it was interesting to see Matthew 16:18 unfold. I found it interesting that the Apostles were debating the meaning although in Aramaic it would be pretty clear that in that moment Jesus was talking about building his Church on Peter. In Greek Petros for Peter and rock petra. Petros petra. In Aramaic Keepa and keepa. I found it interesting that from there Peter consults with Jesus and comes back and has the final say. The Church is built on Jesus, yes, but Jesus said he would build His Church on Peter.

Jesus didn't found His Church on a human (peter), but upon the *awakening* Peter had in his mind heart and soul that *Jesus* is the Coming Messiah. Each human is His Sanctuary, not a building, not a man.

@@clairen4584 I would recommend reading the whole of the exchange in Matthew 16 but also supplement it with reading the whole of Isiah 22 and Daniel 2. I think it illuminates and becomes clearer. You could say that he is building the Church on the confession of Peter, which is interesting. I would agree that Christ's Chuch is built upon the confession of Peter. But in Aramaic Jesus would tell Simon: "Also I tell you that you are rock (chepas) and upon this rock (chepas) I will build my Church. Matthew 16:19: I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” In Isiah 22 and Daniel 2, and in Temple Judaism, I think it is very clear that Jesus is telling Peter that His Church will be built on him. There are Protestants that hold to this view but believe that it ended with the Apostles. This is called Sola Apostolica and goes nicely together with sola scriptura meaning the Bible is the sole infalliable rule of faith. It is not what I believe but since I am Roman Catholic but I do believe this is a better interpretation of what Jesus is saying. God bless.

@@snorrevange7335 Thank you sooo much for your kind comment! .. A very long time ago I was reading the Old Testament account of the Israelites complaining that they wanted a king! 👑 God's response was that He meant for a one-on-one relationship to/with Each individually created soul. He did want for others to come before HIM. Jesus ascended with the promise of sending us The Holy Ghost. When the Day of Pentecost arrived, the Flames lit upon Each individual soul. They all spoke, and when Others heard it they heard it translated in their own ear, and in their own language... When we Each get called to meet The Lord, He will hold into account Each individually. ... There will not be a man speaking FOR us, except God Himself. ... When we say 'Lord Lord',,, God will not say, oh your under Peter, (or the *very dear* Pope Francis 🤗). Instead, The Lord is looking to find His Reflection within Each person individually. ... You Must Be Born Again. Gently, that occurs by The Holy Spirit's Invitation, to which Each soul says Yes, or 'Maybe Later', or NO thanks I'm good. When you receive 'the Revelation' (Peter had) this OPENS 'the eyes of your Understanding, that you know what is The Hope of His Calling.' .. God Created each soul with Incredible Love, and a desire for Union with Him... We know God partly now, and Soon we will Know Him Face-To-Face. Much Love!!! 🕊 And thanks *again* .. I will read the passages you recommended.

@@snorrevange7335However can you believe that the church....the body of Christ is built on a human.being....the church's ONE foundation is JESUS CHRIST our Lord ... The church is not a building...every precious soul who believes in Jesus as Lord is part of that temple...Jesus. @snorrevange7335
@snorrevange7335 Ай бұрын
@@ocean77359 The Church is the body of Christ and Jesus Christ is the head of the Church. It all flows from Him. Jesus tells us in Matthew 16:18: "Also I tell you that you are rock and on this rock I will build my Church." Jesus says he will build the Church on Peter and that Peter will be given the keys. Isaiah 22:22 refers to “the key of the house of David,” which in the context refers to the authority of the steward who manages the household of the king. So Jesus is truly the King of the Church but Peter is given the highest authority and power by Christ Himself to manage His Church.

loved the connection you made of Peter's financial debt that Jesus resolved for him and his not forgiving Matthew ...to... the parable Jesus told of the man with the huge debt that was forgiven but who wouldn't forgive the one who owed a smaller debt to him. I hadn't seen that connection. Thank you!

There is one thing I really want to get cleared up about what forgiveness entails. I have had personal experiences from a person who is consistently toxic to be around long-term. In my experiences, this person has acted in a way that strongly indicated that this person believes that forgiving this person automatically means whoever forgives this person must no longer hold grudges about past or current wrongs and the absence of said grudges is automatically a license for this person to freely continue the hurtful behavior without reawakening the angry feelings that led to the grudges against this person in the first place. So what I'm trying to clearly determine is: does Jesus's lesson of forgiveness mean that when you forgive a person with whom a toxic relationship exists between you and the other person who is persistently hurting you, that you have to maintain an active relationship with this toxic individual who refuses to stop the hurtful behavior no matter how many times you forgive the toxic person?

I've never heard that from any priest or religious, it's more to free yourself from the cancer of the toxic relationship. You move on. If someone killed your child, you can "forgive" at some point, but that doesn't mean you want him free. There has to be worldly repercussion from actions.

Atticus is a character made up for dramatic effect and narrative purposes. Please remember "The Chosen" is a TV Show, one that is miles above anything above the trash on secular media, but this Show is not a replacement for the Bible and teachers preaching sound doctrine and Solid Christian theology. God Bless all my Christian brothers and sisters!

Just because a character like Atticus is not mentioned in the Bible doesn't mean that a man like him couldn't exist. The Roman rulers depended heavily on the spy system to keep order and suppress revolts.🙂‍↕️

Hi there. As far as I know, it's got to do with God's command in Deuteronomy 6:8 "You shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes." (The Torah). So the Jews have something called a tefillin, a box filled with Scripture that they attach to their foreheads, and I think it's attached to the strap they wrap around their arms to their hands. It's to remind them of the Torah.

I live in Hasidic neighborhood and see this and the prayer tassels they wear around their waste after a certain age. There are many beautiful and interestng customs from Jesus's time. He did live and die a Jew as his family etc and I wish in trying to seperate later, they kept some of the customs. I read in my church "Mudhouse Sabbath" book about an Orthodox Jew who became Catholic but kept what she felt were better customs from her old faith and embraced some of Catholics in a beautiful way.

HI I'm a little discouraged in Season 4 King David lost a son due to the way he gained his wife Bathsheba and killing her husband Uriah, the outcome was that the Lord saw his sin and called him to repent. Also Andrew is older than Peter? why is Peter stating that he is the older brother??

Dear Sir, your final analysis misses one critical piece of information. The servant who received the grace of forgiveness for his debt had that rescinded when he did not forgive the debt of another. The teaching is that by our actions we can lose the free gift of grace. You missed the most important point. God bless, V

Just wanted to ask as i watched your video on mark 14- in 14-45on . Who is the naked boy with Jesus as I’m being told I don’t know Jesus like I think!. He had given a lot of other scriptures but this one is always glossed over. He was with Jesus while he was in pain and they tried to grab him but his linen was pulled off and he ran away naked??. Pls help sorry for the rude comment but it bothers me. Thanks

@@melvahash1837 I have been told this many times as I looked for answer’s?. Then I was told by this man who is a classicist knowing Ancient Greek n Rome (Latin)and Hebrew, said that the disciples were all young under 18or one or two may have been 18/19.that’s why he called them his little ones or my children (these were translations of pure Greek). They say he (Jesus) sent them ahead that night (last supper) to scout for a man with a pitcher that looked like this?. And he was brought to the upper rooms,(of a seedy place)in here this guy says he doesn’t know what happened but at 3-4am they went to the garden of gesemen?(not sure how to spell that) But Jesus told Peter,John n James to keep watch, while he withered in pain and even so cried tears or sweating blood?!. Okay this guy says he was in a Agony/great fear, needing the antidote for this part of the drug????,and only a young boy prepubescent can give n the blood wasn’t blood but purple drops that come out of the skin(sweat) when it’s reaching it’s end n needs to be (brought out of). He cries abba pls don’t make me take this cup!. Then realised that his “followers “had fallen asleep,he gets upset n goes again with the boy comes back 10odd mins n says again I cannot believe you can’t keep watch!.(not sure if it happens 2 or 3 times ,but then Judas comes with soldiers and Jesus says have you come with so many soldiers like I am a laodias(which is someone who meddles with kids)but it’s been changed to thief or something, they get in a scuffle Peter lops the ear off,the little boy is seized but let’s his fine linen fall(same linen used for burial or surgical) and flees naked!. I don’t know Greek and even Greek would have to be ancient as the words can have up to five meanings, there language had over 250,000words were Hebrew had or still has under 10,000 very small amount of vocabulary. There is so much more as we weren’t taught in the ancient tongues so the meanings and even Mark didn’t have the last few chapters until 4th century, it ends when Mary comes to the tomb and finds noone there and n Angel says who are you looking for among the dead..!(this is actually in or on the net) This is a massive problemMark was written around70ad so it could’ve been the real mark but most others where later(200ad or abit later)n not the Luke,Matthew n John . I have been punched in the stomach so hard!!. Why are these ppl saying this and they said half dozen names can tell you the true words, even churches cannot deny they said, but they have chosen to ignore it to what end??!!. I’m so lost right now I’m having a bit of a breakdown 😳. If anyone knows Greek or Hebrew can they clarify some of this for me pls 🙏 ..!

I appreciate the commentary on this video about The Chosen which I love watching. However, please read your Bibles as well. If you didnt know better, based off this commentary you would think that the Bible clearly states a dispute between Peter and Matthew, that Matrhew 18 was specifically about their dispute. The Bible gives no indication of a rift or that Matthew 18 was about the division between them. It very well vould have been, and I understand The Chosen creatively fills in the gap for more relatable application, however, to hear this commentator speak, you would think the events in scenes were canonized in Scripture. They were not. At the end of the day, The Chosen is great inspirational entertainment. It is not scripture, and shouldn't be taken as such .

Know that the rock Jesus was talking about was not Peter the rock but the rock of revelation. When Jesus said that Peter received the knowledge that Jesus was the Christ came from his, Christ Father in Heaven, or that Peter knowing He was Christ was revelation from God the Father. Revelation was the rock.
