Most requested video for managing resources and acquiring what you need.
Getting resources for larger builds later in game is very difficult. This video is designed to provide you with all (okay most) of the information you need to maximize your daily intake of resources and your ability to save them for those larger builds especially as you start getting past HQ level 25.
Acquiring the necessary resources for all of your needs probably represents over half of all gameplay. This is a long video covering one of the biggest topics of Puzzles and Survival. I normally try to avoid videos of this length simply because it is a lot of information to take in. I will have other videos that cover different aspects of gameplay that tie in to acquiring resources and maximum efficiency so look forward to those! There is ALOT of information in this video but I wanted to cover every aspect of gameplay that affects how you get and use resources. If I missed anything or made any errors please let me know! UPDATE NOTE!!!: Puzzles and Survival is always updating their gameplay and while shooting this video I was unaware they had made a significant change in troop training. Originally upgrading troops was done 1 tier at a time. This is no longer the case. If you train a tier 1 troop and want to promote it, the promotion goes from tier 1 to your max tier for that troop type! This is a downside for saving resources. I still recommend training lower level troops to save resources, then you can always promote them for events requiring training as the cost and time will be much lower.
Tips and tricks short version: Note! This is for more experienced players that only want to see the tips and tricks and don't need any additional information. If you are new to the game or still figuring it out watching the full video (while long) will give you a lot of useful information not covered in this section. I highly recommend watching the video for the full explanation. On to the short list!
(In no particular order of importance)
1. All marches gathering all the time unless raiding or warring. Gather as close to the tech hub as possible especially inside the wasteland.
2. Ask your alliance members for help (small amounts are better)
3. Utilize the alliance resource spot at all possible times.
4. (For those willing to spend money) Purchase the "Build" and the "Research" gear packs (highest level you can or want to afford).
5. Do all of your daily quests and maximize events where possible.
6. Train only the minimum number of troops and traps to complete dailies.
7. Upgrade all 2 star and 3 star heroes to +5
8. Raid the highest possible zombie lairs as often as you can every day.
9. Farm lower might players in your own state or during inter-state wars.
10. Use resource boxes wisely.
11. Use commander duel conquest coins for purchasing food.
12. Master the pit! Get as much rare earth as possible use mostly for gas.
13. Setup your sanctuary for what you need! (35 spots) I recommend 4 farm, 5 lumber mills, 8 gas 8 steel, 4 bootcamps, 5 infirmaries, only 1 virology lab (for lvl 30 research center upgrade)
14. Get to VIP level 10 as soon as you can so you can adjust your talent sets.
15. Set talents to all economy when AFK. Use fast producer twice a day every day. (Swift gatherer when you get it - requires commander level 48)
16. Improve eva economy boosts for gathering speed increases.
17. Store excess rss in the alliance warehouse! Don't let your troops eat all your food.
18. And last but not least and forgotten in the video is Supply Depot! Use every free chance you can every day and if you have spend a few gems on those hard to get resources. Supply depot grows with each purchase but does cap out eventually so watch for the cap.

What do you mean stacked stats?

By stacked stats i just mean when you apply one boost then another and the second boost takes into consideration the first stat. So as an example if you use the "fast producer" talent with talents that boost your output speed, you will produce the boosted amount of resources. So the stats are stacked. Many boosts replace each other rather than stack. So you can only have 1 or the other not both. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your videos, they have helped me out heaps. I couldnt find it pointed out in the comments below but wanted draw attention to what i think is an error in this video regarding resource boxes. Lesser resource boxes and resource choice boxes both do show 150K food however the lesser resource box is 150K x 1 and the choice resource box is 150K x 10. So if you use a resource choice box for food or wood, you get 10 times as much as you would from a lesser resource box. It is therfore viable to use resource choice boxes for food and wood if you need to, though i would still only use them for steel and gas as they are much harder to accumulate. Love the videos and these are really informative as I’m still newish to the game I wanted to know about gathering on the world map. Is it necessary to send heroes with troop skills associated with the resource you wish to gather?

Good question! You do not have to send heroes with gathering boosts as the gathering boosts are active just for owning the hero and having them at the correct level. Actually unless you are planning to have to defend the rss spot I would recommend only sending troops and no heroes. Hope this helps! Thanx for watching!

It was a march skin that could be won in an event. You'll have to wait for the corresponding event to come back out or for it to be available in the mall for purchase.

Would you change the recommended building layout for your sanctuary now vs when the video was first created? I noticed that there are several quests that need multiple lvl 30 buildings, like needing (6) lvl 30 Bootcamps. Not sure how far to level up some of the buildings if I need to take them down.

Steel is super tough. As you get to hq 25 gas becomes the tough one. Especially closer to 30. Food is mostly important for training troops and upgrading hq but is also the easiest rss to acquire. I recommend having full steel and gas building (8 each) and alliance steel. Gather constantly even if you dont need it immediately and store excess rss in the alliance warehouse.

@@maksvuka6013 that's actually an important aspect of gameplay which is why sanctuaries have warehouses. It really depends on your state though. Our state is in a nap20 most of the time and sometimes a complete nap. So we dont target anyone in state or in the top 20 alliances this can slow down higher might players from growing as rss cost grows exponentially. However it allows f2p and smaller might players a chance to grow so the state as a whole is stronger which is why we do that. But the rules change based on the needs of the state. Technically speaking one of the best ways to gain rss is by sanctuary raiding. Especially inactive players that still have daily production but never collect it. I usually do all my sanctuary raiding during war time. Although this isnt as helpful since most players bubble (shield) or empty their rss because they want to avoid losing rss during war.

Is there a video describing what all the symbols in hero campaign avatars mean? Like in Alliance Trial when you hit the monster with Meyers wave a bunch of stuff turns on. I assume some are hero skills, buffs, debuffs, etc. What to look for? In what order should i be firing my heroes when all lit up. I usually hit with Mantis first or Meyers. thanks. My best line up right now left to right: Req, Mars, Mantis, Eve, Fox.

I dont have a video covering the symbols yet. Honestly I dont even look at them. If you want to know what a symbol means just hold down on the hero in question yours or the enemy and it will tell you what buffs/debuffs they have applied as well as remaining HP /max hp.

a couple more questions. So i've got HQ26 in the cooker now. Finally T9s. No Problem getting rss so far, but it sounds like it just gets harder for builds. Still have my 3-star Build and Tech gear sets. Does a player end up having to buy the 4-star sets? Is $15/set the only way? I know some of my alliance members have 5-star sets, but they spend a lot more money than i do. What are the best daily purchases in Ruins and the Pit? I was buying the 3 3-star chips and 3-star modules to save and use for enhancements on GAC Day5. I think now i will buy 1 hero frag in each and enough chip/module promotion material to leave some growth in ruins coins and rare earth for later. Ruins coin seems good for speed ups and rare earth for steel right now. thanks Val.

So rss does get tougher as you approach and pass HQ level 30. It is not necessary to purchase 4* or 5* build and research gear (but it definitely can help a lot in the long run) as for rare earth and pit, I'd focus more on spending rare earth on module material (promote ii material is especially important). For ruins I buy 10 60min speedups daily and save the rest for chip material. I wouldnt buy the chips and module themselves. The material is normally good.

The resources you collect from your sanctuary buildings never go into your bag. You build up your bag from completing quests and events and raiding zombie lairs etc. You can also exchange the resources you have on hand in the mystery shop for resources that go into your bag. The resources you produce from your building should be used when you need them or stored in your alliance warehouse to prevent losses if you have more than your warehouse cap. Hope this helps!

Good point in a way. I have found but not confirmed that any march to a gathering spot is the same regardless of what type of troop is sent. I predominantly use t1 troops so I can keep my heavy hitters at home in my sanctuary. However troop load is important in this respect (eva skill, some hero skills, and in the tech tree if I remember correctly) because troop load is how much a type of troop can "carry" or gather. Higher tier troops have a higher troop load. So if you want to send fewer troops you need high values for troop load in your tech tree and eva. Or more troops. But gathering speed is based off the gathering speed boosts you have as a commander not on the troop type (to the best of my knowledge). Thanx for the question! I never did clarify that in the video.

I see That the travel time appears to change slightly when changing the troops. But even if that is so you still don't want to use a bunch of low tier troops due to low troop load which means you have to make hella tier1 troops for what much less vehs can do. Ok I got it lol

Sorry I dont have a list for the main quests. However there is no worry if you do a quest "out of order" it will still give you the reward once the prerequisite quests are completed. So let's say a quest is to upgrade warehouse to level 15 but to get that quest your level 13 rider camp has to be complete. If you complete warehouse level 15 and then rider camp level 13 you will still get the warehouse quest reward.

Question: on the bottom-right of my sanctuary screen is a little notebook pop-out. There are a bunch of locked up talents, but the Fast Producer is open, which seems to boost rss output for 12 hrs. I'm not sure thats what I said. I apologize if that's what it sounded like. Builder gear is a big help and I definitely recommend it. I recommend it as one of the first purchases and as soon as possible because the longer you own it the better the benefit.

Can someone answer a question for me? We moved our alliance to a different area and realized there isn’t many resource areas.. Will those build up overtime, or should we have found a place where there were lots of resources everywhere? A lot of our group are gatherers and like to gather resources on the map

The resources are randomly placed however there are more rss spots closer to the tech hub. In addition the level of the rss is dependent on how close you are to the hub. Level 7s can only be found in the grey wasteland area. The further you go away from the tech hub the lower the level of rss spots. Placing your alliance in a good location for rss is important and you may need to move. But the only move that will really help is closer to the hub. Good luck!

Well there is the food trick that will replenish lost food on hand by collecting from your farms first. But for large HQ upgrades food in the bag is the best way for sure

Since at best you can only have 5 troops gathering Level 7 Farms at a time, which will bring in 2M food every 2-4 hours (depending on gathering rate), the best way to minimize troops eating food is going to be Food Bags.

Hello, there is perhaps the possibility of changing countries with the entire alliance without having to rebuild the alliance. Would be grateful for any help

If you mean moving the alliance territory and buildings, from my understanding that won't work. I know it can be difficult to rebuild but you would probably want to find a place to put the alliance territory ("hive") in the new state and reorganize the buildings anyways. In addition one of the requirements of immigration is to quit the alliance first, which means, all of the work you have done for alliance tech etc will be lost. However a lot of times you can find a minimally active alliance that may be willing to let a full alliance come in and take over that alliance. Of course you could always have the leader immigrate first, start a new alliance and then have everyone join it. Hope this helps.

Im still very confused about the Nova exp. I have gifts for them but im unable to use it until i get level 1 nova exp. I have no idea how to do that. Any tips ?

Keep playing! Nova unlocks I believe at HQ 15 or when you complete certain parts of the tutorial. You'll get it eventually! Just save everything for her and when you do unlock her you'll be able level her up quick. Good luck!

So you can only upgrade a max of 2 buildings at the same time. It's not based on stats but on your build queue. You always have 1 "builder" or build queue available. The second one require a golden hammer which can vary in length from 1 day to 30 days which you can purchase with diamonds or you can win from events or quests. In addition with the latest update it is not possible to purchase the second builder permanently with real money. This of course is the current situation. The devs always have the power to change things in the future.

It really depends on what you are trying to do. During the diamond spend event I'd recommend getting to vip10 first. After that I'd focus on gear promoter II as they are hard to get and youll need a lot of them.

Shes technically just an AI that allows you to get boosts like the research center. She is not a hero that goes into battle. But she also has other "roles". For instance when you attack a lair she heals all your killed units and most of your wounded. She uses her "troops" for raiding in the pit etc.

You train troops in your camps. You have the fighter camp, shooter camp, rider camp, and vehicle depot. Takes time and resources and the tier is determined by the level of the camp. Part of your daily quests is to train troops every day.

As far as I know to move alliance buildings you have to demolish them all and rebuild. There is no way to actually move them. If you demolish the alliance fort it auto demolished all of them. Let me know if that helps!

How do you show that screen which displays what resource buildings you have in your sanctuary?

So when you have an open slot to build when you click on the open spot it shows what buildings you have and how many you are allowed to have maximum. So as far as I know it requires an empty building slot to see that information. I can tell you there are a total of 35 customizable slots and the maximum buildings you can have for each (if memory serves me correctly) is 10 bootcamp 10 infirmary 8 steel 8 gas 8 farm 8 lumber and 6 or 8 virology labs. @@kingofzed7558 I agree! I had to count mine out like 5 times because the layout isnt easy to figure out at first glance. Lol i ended up demolishing a building just to see. Which i dont necessarily recommend unless you plan on getting rid of the building anways.

@@kingofzed7558 you only really need 1 virology lab since most of your antiserum will come from raiding lairs. You only need 1 lab because it is required for research center lvl 30. Which is a huge upgrade. As for rss cost and second accounts I just posted a video on it although might not be what most people are expecting. Check it out and let me know what you think! The main thing to focus on as a newer player is completing the main quest line, saving everything so you can use items to do well in events and find a routine that works for you. A lot of things take time so don't try to rush too fast. Stay consistent and if you have any questions feel free to ask good luck!

Question , my team wants to hit zombie lairs "solo" and everyone sends 1 troop. I personally do not like this .. Whats the benefit for this honestly ?? And should I stop arguing against it

So the idea with soloing lairs is to minimize casualties. Killing a lair at 100% can be a good thing if you are overpowering the lair but let's say you are overpowering the lair then you're likely to just go up a lair or 2. But everyone will have heavy heals which cost time and rss. If I can do a level 33 lair "solo" with only 300 heals then why would I want to do a 33 with say 1500 heals? So that is the rationale. However two-manning a couple lairs up or trio-ing a really big lair can be smart once you start nearing the cap say 40. Cause the rewards are better and with minimal casualties. I've tested it many ways. The optimal strategy for saving rss cost and heals is being able to solo a lair. Hope this helps! You can also watch my video on lairs. How to upgrade level 1 nova

You have to have headquarters level 15 to unlock the building. Then you can upgrade the building to your current hq level. And you can upgrade her intelligence level with Nova experience. Skills are upgraded with Nova military and econ points. Hope this helps

There are way to decrease gathering time. I'm not sure why you would want to. The main ways are to reset economy type heroes that have gathering boosts, reset nova economy skills for gathering boosts. Resetting heroes will also affect other skills those heroes have while resetting individual Nova skills won't affect anything but that skill in particular. Hope that helps.

What is the fastest way to get steel? Without paying, of course.

The quickest way is to have 8 steel buildings in your sanctuary as high level as possible and boost the output. Have an alliance steel building for rss spot and gather there constantly. Gather on the world map and use swift gatherer if you have it and of course raiding sanctuaries that are over level 15. Getting rss is one of the hardest things to do in game. So patience is important. Events also drop steel but not as often or as much as food and wood. Also check your mystery shop and look for deals that reward steel thats usually a good way to. Other then that use your rare earth from the pit for steel. If you do alm of those simultaneously you can amass a good amount of steel in a short period of time. Good luck! Thanx for watching!

How do you upgrade the troop from Tier 1 to Tier 2? When you click that up arrow for Tier 1, it shows you to upgrade to highest tier instead of next tier. For example in your video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/raSvh4Z6rLyeZ6M) when you clicked up arrow for tier 1, the upgrade shows to T1-->T9 not T2.

You used to be able to upgrade 1 tier at a time. But for whatever reason this functionality was done away with. Now all you can do is promote to the max.

That's a great question! I have to say I honestly don't know. Probably more than I should have but not as much as you might think either. Outside of build and tech gear I usually only spend a few dollars here and there for specific tasks I might be trying to complete or occasionally for extra rss. I know some players have spent thousands of dollars on the game and I am no where near that. Lol. I have probably spent a few hundred over the course of 6 months.

I wanted to add that spending money does speed things up and makes things easier which is how obviously the company makes money for producing the game. That being said I mostly do videos for players who arent interested in spending much if any money and try to show you the tips and tricks for getting rewards without it costing anything. The biggest tip is to save your resources and your rewards and use them only during events where you get points for using them. In this way you can get the reward that other players are spending money to get. Best of luck! Great question!

Got a question about gathering speed. I’m doing a quest today for wood gathering & sent out 5 different units with vehicles only. One of the units has ~1/2 the number of vehicles as the other 4, but they all had the same gather time upon arriving at the lumber mills. So, my question is how troop size matters for gathering. Is there a way to figure out how much wood each vehicle can take? The fact I sent a smaller number of vehicles in one of my queues had no apparent impact on the time needed to clean out the lumber mill, which is confusing to me

Gathering speed is not relevant to the size of the troop. The troop load determines how much of an rss can be gathered per troop. Since it varies per person based on boosts the only way to determine how much each troop carries is to send 1 troop to a rss spot and see what the load value is. Just selecting one will show you.

@@ValenceRing ah ok, so there’s some critical number of troops I need to send to the rss to gather as fast as possible (& that critical number depends on my personal boosts), and sending troops beyond that critical number provides no further help, correct? I had a situation today sending 8000 vehicles & 14000 vehicles to L6 lumber mills, and the gather time was identical. So, the extra 6000 basically did nothing. For 280k wood, let’s say each vehicle can carry 100 wood. So, I should send 2800 vehicles, and any beyond that don’t help. Is that right?

@@ValenceRing someone in my alliance told me just now to use quick select, and it’ll figure out the appropriate number of troops lol. Easy solution I guess. I had a troop layout saved for gathering with a high number of vehicles because I assumed it’d help. That seemed to be the issue

As long as you send the exact number of troops to gather the whole tile then it doesn't matter. Technically the gathering speed is the same if you send 1 troop or 10000 just 1 troop won't carry enough to clear the tile.

Lol. Well most game companies have so much competition with other games in similar niches or genres that many are attempting to grab the attention of viewers quickly with movie like ads. Many of course are designed for certain demographics (such as men lol) so the ads can be quite amusing and not really reflective of gameplay. Totally valid question but I have to admit the ad and the gameplay are not a match. That being said, the game is extremely fun (more so with a good alliance) and very engaging. I actually do recommend giving it a shot. Thanx for the question.

Lol I'm up to 180mil now. Believe me I'm a lil guy. Top player in the game has over 1 Billion might. 100 mil might is tough to get to. But it get easier after that. Cant say why exactly. I think they are made by the same company. A lot of games are similar in playstyle or certain game aspects. Studios often put out similar games with different themes to reach a broader audience. Some players like dragons some like zombies lol. I like both although I never played puzzles and dragons. I do know the makers of Puzzles and Survival is 37games.
