I also think it adds a good amount of value to the vlogs. Not only the time between the played hands but also between the sessions. Now that I think of it I'd also like to know about how many hands they get through per hour and if it changes much from one session to another where there's approximately the same amount of players in. I would think that it has an affect on the overall mood at the table but it's impossible to even make an educated guess without playing yourself much live on a regular basis and in different places.

Another video that encapsulates why I love this channel. You easily could have not included the pocket Aces hand and most of us would never have known. A lot of other channels would not have included it because it was an embarrassing mistake. However, you did because mistakes are a part of poker, and it is how you handle those mistakes that is important. You easily could have checked down, given him the pot and moved on, but you recognized you would have lost more had it played out naturally and so you paid your opponent some equity for your mistake. Personally I would have felt miserable at that point and gone on tilt or gone home, but you continued to play good poker and finished strong. So much to take away from this video. Thanks for sharing it and for all of the work you do to show your ups AND downs! Hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season!

I don't think giving him the $100 was necessary. Showing his hand was a mistake, and at worst it should cost him the chips that were already in the middle. HJ at the time considered a check down to be to his advantage since he was behind and would at least get 2 more free cards. As Brad said, HJ could have just kept his mouth shut and bet the turn to play mind games and maybe get paid off. Especially since he hit the full house on the turn. I think if I were an anonymous player in a poker room, I wouldn't have parted with the $100. But putting myself in Brad's shoes as a known player, I can definitely understand why the $100 is easy to just give up there.

first of all that’s bull shit because i’ve seen this happen before in a casino and a player get stacked because of it. right let’s just imagine that the guy never said i’ll check it down. Well he’s getting the right pot odds to peel a turn for the money. than he would’ve hit his trip 10,s and then when player check raises you all in. brad is going to either call and look really stupid for calling or fold and look even more stupid for calling when clearly the guy can see his cards. so in this scenario I love you brad but a huge blunder on your part.

The edit on the AA hand is kinda gross. He says "do you want to check it down?" and you said "yeah, if you don't mind." He began to then say "or, if you bet the turn," implying that he'd fold if he doesn't improve. I don't think the other player did anything wrong.

How ? He completely changed the story about what the guy said? The guy never said you can bet the turn and I’ll fold. He said we can check it down and brad said okay, then the guy said Or you can bet the turn.. why is it the guys fault or problem at all? Brad was the one who was trying to get away from it cheap by betting 15 on the turn and taking it down. It’s not the other guys fault he showed his cards… I thought it was a borderline angle shooting scenario. Dealer even know it too. If it were me I woulda told him after the flop he could either fold or we can play it w/ all the info I have now and could easily bluff him.
@asb3pe
@asb3pe 2 жыл бұрын
@@Nodnarb212 you might technically be correct about the exact words but the very clear implication of villain's turn statement is that "you can bet the turn AND I'LL JUST FOLD" Of course, when he boats up on the turn, everything changes... in my opinion BOTH players were at fault here, altho its not anything to get angry over because honest mistakes do happen in live poker, and that is why I'm so gracious to Brad for showing us this entire sequence. It is a wonderful learning moment for anyone who may just be learning the game, to (a) always pay attention to your actions, and (b) what might seem perfectly okay at the moment might not be quite so okay to all parties based on precisely what occurred here on the turn. Just an amazing set of circumstances that many vloggers might have edited out but I am quite thankful Brad did not do that even tho it is obviously somewhat embarassing for him to reveal what happened. We've all been there, I think, and anyone who says they've never done such a thing probably has not played very much live poker. If the other guy made a mistake, it was his implied offer of "you bet the turn (and I'll fold)". Just stay quiet and let the hand proceed, that is the ultimate lesson to be learned here... in my humble opinion. Thank you Brad for showing this hand!!
@asb3pe
@asb3pe 2 жыл бұрын
P.S. What might get lost in all the discussion is the unfortunate fact - which Brad mentions - that the dealer was also not paying close attention and put out the river card before the betting action had been completed on the turn. This multiplied and magnified the entire gaffe quite a bit, altho it may also have defused it as well if you think about it. If villain raised Brad's 15 turn bet, it's not a fun spot nor a friendly spot anymore. I bet Brad folds after some thought about it, but the whole thing was just a mess including from the dealer!!! This is as sickening as live poker can get, and I'll say it again, I am impressed and thankful that Brad showed the painful hand for others to learn from.

I don't think you should ever consider betting after your hand has been exposed. The offer to check it down is the fairest thing that could happen IMO, else why are you betting? If you are betting so they will fold then why would they just not fold after seeing your hand. By betting you are indicating you are continuing to *play* the hand. Checking down seems to be the only option that is fair for everyone. I only say this because we are absolute in knowing that showing the hand was a mistake. Also I'm not a pro and have no idea what I'm doing.... so there's that too....

Especially when it was your mistake that led to the entire mess. Anyway, i just don't see it as an angle. He probably meant something else when he said "or you bet the turn..." or perhaps just misspoke. It all comes back to lack of focus. Had a guy do that post flop one time at a table I was at. (expose his hand thinking it was over, but someone else was left). He had something like pocket Queens. So the guy still in the hand with him is looking all smug and makes a bet. There was an over card on the flop. Guy who exposed his pocket queens just shoves all in and looked at him with the all right *&, prove you are not bluffing.......and the guy with the unknown hand folds while looking pissed.......lol

I’m sorry but I’m going to have to disagree with your presumption, and almost all the comments here and say you were out of line in the AA hand, even if you did try and make up for it afterwards. The opponent offered you a check down after your mistake, you didn’t accept instantly (which is what I would assume most people would do) so he then said or you could bet, meaning you could continue the hand knowing he knows your hole cards and has the huge advantage. In what world would a player agree to fold, or imply he was going to fold a turn he had already paid $55 for, and hadn’t even seen yet that could make his hand best. One would assume he will have outs when calling flop, either making a boat with a pair, or a gutshot/open ender draw that makes a straight - and why would he ever consider folding these if he hits them, and more importantly give up his implied odds if he’s calling with say 67 with no showdown. The player offered a check down because that offers some benefit too him, where he gets two chances of improving his hand, and neither of you can bet, win win in a way - the other offer was for you too bet turn, but how would anyone ever take this as purely he would fold? He’s already paid the flop bet, and who would make a deal where they gain nothing, being they don’t see a free river, but there not allowed to raise if he hits? In what world? According to brads logic here, anyone playing against brad should always table there hand face up, and then they can value bet freely and will never face a float or check raise.

A lot of comments making it seem like it was brads mistake after the exposed cards, yes exposing was bad, but the guy did say or bet the turn and just went back on it? He wasn’t wrong also then? I’m just unclear at this point.

To be fair, to both you guys and the dealer. You both agreed to check it down, then you both mumbled and trailed off on your other comments after that. The only definitive thing that you could gather from that, is that you guys both did agree to check it down. If no one could agree on what was said after the initial deal, you gotta go with the check down.

@@BradOwenPoker no it doesn’t imply any action on his part because it’s an incomplete sentence. He already offered you a checkdown and “if you bet the turn,” then he’ll assume you are not interested in checking it down. He’s 100% giving you as much freedom as you want so he doesn’t look scummy on camera.

AA hand is interesting. At first he is asking to check it down to his advantage mostly (as long as he doesn't hit a 10), it is a fair offer in this scenario. Your bet of 15 on the turn makes little sense. I don't think he was saying he would fold to the bet. He could have a 4, he could have anything. Once you bet 15 you open yourself up to getting raised, more often than not if you get raised you're going to be losing IMO. Why risk being put in an even grosser situation for $15? If you have the best hand, you're going to win by checking it down anyways. I think once he offered to check it down, and you basically agreed, you should have left it at that and done so.

I agree BB was not offering to fold to a turn bet. (Brad was still deciding whether to check it down at that point so forfeiting the pot would make no sense from BBs POV. It would be like open folding.) He was saying we can check it down or continue normally. He thought Brad was choosing to continue normally. But then the dealer dealt the river and BB exposed his hand and all hell broke loose. BB was worried about looking bad if he raised, hence the reason he asked if this was going on youtube. Unfortunate situation

If anyone has played poker long enough, they’ve made a mistake at the table. Luckily, it worked out for you this time. My impression of the other player from watching his reaction wasn’t that he wanted to necessarily raise the turn as you suggested, just that he seemed to think it was getting checked down. It was very confusing with more than one person talking at a time. In defense of both you and the hijack, the dealer really should’ve made sure to clarify what was happening before he started peeling off cards. I’m also kind of surprised the dealer didn’t call the floor to straighten things out once there was any dispute about the action. Anyway, kind of crazy for sure, always love your vlogs, keep up the great work!

I think checking it down was the right thing. Even if he doesn’t smash the turn, he may have felt the $15 bet was milking him since he would have felt almost forced to call to try to bink the full house on the river. Regardless, throwing him the $100 was definitely the right thing to do especially in your position as the pro vlogger.

I've seen situations like that Aces hand happen numerous of time, been a part of them personally a couple of times. Action always gets brought back to the turn with the river being reshuffled into the deck. But, to the villains defense, he never said he would fold to a bet on the turn. He was basically just saying you could check it down or play it out. No angling on his end. You can interpret how he said "Or you could bet the turn" any way you want, but he never admitted any action he would take after that. I think you both handled it well. I was actually thinking in the moment after the hand ended that I would have thrown him a $100 chip cause he def would have taken more than that off me if it played out correctly. The fact that you did exactly that is why you're my fav poker vlogger. Keep it up big dog.

You handled the AA situation like Mensch. 9 out of 10 times the way you offered to check it down is a huge plus to the others at the table. BTW, I recently bought 2 of your T-shirts in XXL because I am 6ft5 and 225lbs. They fit well length wise, but are really large in the body of them. Almost comically large in circumference..........Like they are made for just overweight persons rather than taller people. Otherwise, I really like them. So, maybe you might want to offer an athletic cut XL/XXL T-shirts rather than XL in width and length. Poker used to be nothing but severely unhealthy sedentary older persons. However, now it is made up of healthier and younger persons like you.........
