Mother blames 'unfit' mental health services for death of her daughter

The mother of a woman who died following failings at an eating disorder unit has told Sky News the mental health system is "not fit for purpose".
Melissa Parrish attempted to take her own life in 2018 just four hours after being admitted to the unit.

I get where she is coming from, the nhs seems to think that 15 hours of therapy will resolve PTSD, depression and anxiety. It’s all I got from them.

Its a medication hatch without care and consultation, not Mental Health. Care means clinical.

So let me get this straight. A mother who wasn't able to take care of her own daughter abdicates her responsibility and then complains when the mentally ill girl harms herself. Why wasn't the mother looking after her (that's a rhetorical question) i'm sure she can find a million reasons why SHE is the victim and will never take responsibility for her own failings in this situation.

That implies. that every kind of help has been tried, including an investigation of physiological and Endocrine issues. Exactly what is NOT happening at the moment. There are many ways people find to say "Oh well, we couldn't have done anything anyway...."

The mental health services are the poor,cinderella kind in this country,doing their best,of course,but money is prioritised to other areas wastefully... All I see is very poor parenting and a weak person who did not value her life & couldn't care less about the pain her selfish self loathing would hurt those who loved her. Sorry, but I have so sympathy for people like this & even less for those looking to shift the blame for their failures on to others. I have seen and known far too many people whose lives were cut short through no fault of their own, but still lived the best they could with the time they had to show any sympathy for these people. Its not the hospitals fault your daughter was so weak and selfish she opted for any opportunity to end her own life.
