When Landrew entered a venue, you could FEEL it. The actual love vibe washed over the whole building like a wave. You could see it as one by one the entire crowd started smiling. I've met thousands of "rock stars", maybe a few have had this natural ability. It's hard to see in videos, but it was tangible in person.

I've been listening to a lot of Alice in Chains lately, which has led me to first discover MLB and Andy Wood, never knew who he was until now and how he fits into the story of Seattle grunge. Absolutely fascinating and heartbreaking at the same time. This guy would've been huge. Going to watch the movie Singles for the first time as well, really enjoying learning all this fascinating musical history!

When we lost Bonham, I was sick to my core. I would never get the chance to see my loves. Then Andy emerged with MLB. If Andy hadn't passed, MLB would've been our generation's Zeppelin. I believe this with all my heart..
@tyleslie12317 жыл бұрын
I don't think you could compare mother love bone to Led Zeppelin considering that was basically pearl jams goal(to be something mysterious like zeppelin). Mother Love Bone was Glam/Love rock where as zeppelin has a more natural less of a party vibe to it more similar to pearl jam. just my analysis as a professional musician. They would have def. saved rock and roll but would have been Mother Love Bone, not the next zeppelin.
@kat1york7 жыл бұрын
Ty Leslie I can understand your perspective as a musician. I guess I should of said, "MLB gave me that warm cozy feeling I get when listening to Zep. Gentle Groove is an example. When I hear that song, I get that mystical vibe. May I ask you, which band did you feel, had that Zeppelin vibe?
@cindycassellgilbert54045 жыл бұрын
Kat you know who gives off Zepp vibes...Zeppelin does!!! If you are a LZ fan then you would never compare other bands to them...because Nobody Compares to LZ!!! ....not even GVF!! 😎💙✌
@ryderfallz16385 жыл бұрын
Ty Leslie Actually they all had the same ambitions, that’s why Jeff and stone left Green River and Andy left malfunkshun. Andy’s idol was Freddie Mercury, his favorite band was queen. That was his dream. Doesn’t really matter what you want to classify them as, their style could have changed each album. I mean look at how much Pearl Jam’s style changed. Just throwing my opinion out there

There have been many great musicians taken from us "too soon", whether they died of suicide (Cobain) murder (Dimebag) "natural" causes (Morrison), but we were able to experience their great talents. The world didn't get that chance with Andrew, and it's a damn shame. A true talent who never had his chance to make a real mark. RIP.

sad this dude passed, but TBH he seems to have fell victim to his own narcissistic drive to be a rockstar. I'd bet if he had lived, there's a good chance both he and the rest of Mother Love Bone would never have made it big. People say he was destined for greatness based on the success of Pearl Jam, but that doesn't mean if Andrew had not died, and MLB had continued to exist, they would have had the same level of success that Pearl Jam experienced. Things don't work that way. Eddie Vedder and PJ were the right fit for the 90's, Wood and MLB definitely were NOT - they were totally products of the 80's. They were pretty much a fusion of hair metal/ glam rock band, and Andrew Wood was much different than dozens (if not hundreds) of glam/hair band vocalists of the era. This is not "grunge" by a long shot (nor was Pearl Jam- they are a pretty straightforward, Meat and Potatoes Hard Rock band) People were definitely not interested in glam rock in the 90's. Landrew was the quintessential late 80's persona- his look, vocal style, performance style....he was a flamboyant child of the 1980's to the core, through and through. I doubt he would have had the ability to adapt and quickly become what people were looking for in an early 90's rock star, within the year or so between this and the Seattle explosion of 91/92. Wood and MLB would likely have had moderate success, living in the shadow of Nirvana, and then faded due to the substance abuse issues nearly every member was afflicted with. Andrew would have imploded eventually no matter what. It's in his DNA. There is absolutely no way Wood had what it takes to carry a band to mega-success and sustain that for decades. He had far too many demons.
@Principessa1803 жыл бұрын
I agree with some of this... I feel Andy would have been an independent artist. I feel pj would have still happened and all. Of the Seattle movement because when we think about it, they went off and did their own thing regardless.. but some of what you say (about L'andrew and his visionary aspects ) it seems like you are spewing vitriol to me. Name those demons? Why drugs in the very very first place? Why was he so unhappy/hated himself like everyone has great joy in telling me?
@theverminmediaareyourenemi56127 жыл бұрын
wtf they were playing small clubs and he's already a heroin addict? kind of jumped the gun, didn't he? whatever he's like a D list David Lee Roth. Surprised he's not prancing around in satin and high heels. They were much better off with Eddie Vedder.
@NachtSchreck136 жыл бұрын
hahaha I was thinking the same thing. Dude was clearly a legend....in his own mind. A victim of his own narcissism.
@ryderfallz16385 жыл бұрын
Right? I mean one thing we all know is that the only people that use heroin are rockstars that are selling out stadiums... Dumbass... Andy was unbelievably talented, that’s why they got the record deal over Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Nirvana etc. And if you actually knew anything about what you’re trying to talk about, you’d know almost everybody that was in those bands or in that circle will tell you how good Andy was. Chris Cornell wrote outshined because of how he felt compared to Andy, his roommate, and Alice wrote Would? For him, candlebox wrote far behind for Andy too and so on. So it’s cool to have your own opinion, but if you’re going to start insulting the dead, you should at least know what you’re talking about so you don’t look like such a dipshit!
