Andrew fucking Wood covers your vocals before your show so you don't have to blow your voice on sound check, and then graciously hands you the microphone when he's done and offers his best wishes. You can just feel the vibes....

@@Donna777 People were generally kinder and willing to help back then. You know, just be "cool". Stuff like this was no big deal. Things changed. Image, celebrity, technology that rips the human spirit away.... these things have detached people from one another and made them tend to be more fearful of things like recusal or rejection. It's sad. We need to get back to what we were so we can get back to going where we need to be.

They're playing "I Know Something (Bout You)" off AIC's first album, Facelift. I'm sure Andy was just checking the mic and making up lyrics on the spot. (Maybe Layne was having a drink or whatever).

This is amazing. I've played The Central so many times I can't even count. One of the only surviving old school bars in downtown that still does live music. This was back in the day of group cover where you'd pay at any of several bars and could hop between them to see music. The Central, Doc's, Fenix, Colourbox... fabulous.

It may seem odd to say this on a fun little jam titled "Butt Sauce Baby" but Vedder never came close to replacing what we lost in Wood. This isn't meant to be a Vedder dis because they had some great songs and he can't be blamed for taking the gig. But let's face it vocally and stylistically Vedder is limited by his baritone warble while i feel Wood with MLB would have explored many different styles if he had the chance to fully hit his prime.

Thank you to who ever put this out there. It also makes the point to all the people that say there would be no Alice and chains or soundgarden if Andy didn't die. On allot of the mother love bone videos you can see flyers that say MLB playing with one of those bands or malfunkshun playing with one of them. So those bands were already around and getting noticed I don't think Andy's death had anything to do with their fame. They made it on their own brilliant talent. Not to say Andy's bands weren't legendary and the beginning of grunge maybe but all I'm sure of is some of MLB songs are timeless Star Gazer Chloe dancer/ crown of thorns ect. The list goes on but unfortunately it ends

Amazing how much more powerful ( sonically) Layne's voice was to Andrew's. Mother Love Bone with drummer Greg Gilmore were far more funkier with more subtleties though and a much better fit for Andrew Wood. AIC tried to get funky a couple of times and wasn't too bad at it when they weren't trying to be like Soundgarden.
@vegan.atheist.weirdo3 ай бұрын
I Know Somethin' is their funkiest, which I'd imagine is why they did it with Andy. But while they may have been influenced by Soundgarden, it's not fair to say AiC ever tried to "be like" them. No one could have achieved that anyway. If anything, Layne early on may have been emulating Andy before they figured out what their own sound was.
