I'm 51 years old and about nine months ago I was listening to candlebox and I watched an interview where the singer of candlebox was talking about how talented Andrew wood was and the band was about to make it big. Sadly thats when Andrew was called home. Anyway I fell in love and have been listening to them often and telling other people to check them out. One of the best bands i've ever heard. Love all members in Mother Love Bone and Andrew Wood you are missed. R.I.P.

Aren't they awesome ??! Of all the so called grunge music I go back to the mother love bone cd way more than the rest. Soundgarden too. They were all excellent, I love that MLB sounded unique. Crazy how life happens

In 2024 I still hear his voice. So haunting. Yet so full of love, no judgement, his words ring out. The start of an amazing journey that we all embarked upon. RIP Andy.

I fell in love with Andrew Wood and Mother Love Bone 🌟 when I was 16, I'm 44 now and still love them !! Andrew just had such a voice and charisma that can't be found just anywhere. Grunge might not have happened- or been viewed by history the same - had Andrew lived. I honestly think their music would have blown up, maybe not right away but he had Star power. I hope he got to watch it all happen from Heaven ...Rest In Peace Andrew we love you !! 🕊💙🌌☯️🌠

Just sad to the bone. Andy and Mother Love Bone 🦴 were destined for greatness !!! Look at Eddie and Pearl Jam when they got Eddie in. Chris Cornell and Layne Staley loved Andy like a brother. All were famosly talented and with Kurt { Kurdt } the put Seattle ,Washington on the map ,indelibly ,( Tattoed everything....Eddie,PJ) ....until the end of time....which may not be as far away as thoght. ROCK ON ANDY with the Angels in Heaven. Along with Layne and Chris. We ❤ and miss you dudes. Rock in Peace !!¡!❤😊

These guys really were the prototype of grunge music - bit of glam, bit of metal, bit of groooove, and plenty of rock 'n' roll swagger. What a tragedy they only got to do one album really. Still, Pearl Jam's music wouldn't exist otherwise, so I guess it was meant to be. RIP Andrew Wood - a natural, beautiful rock star.

They were Love Rock, not the depressing blah grunge crap. If he hadn't died, music would have been worlds different and so much better. Grunge never happens.

@@randalscandal1588I’d say it’s more than likely the scene as we know it happens if MLB continued - remember, there were still the Melvins, Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Alice In Chains, etc. and Andy Wood or former Green River members didn’t have much of a direct or critical impact on their members (besides AiC’s Would?, of course). So the scene/a scene likely still maintains in that alternate timeline, but the extent of it is far more debatable because of MLB’s potential reach. Perhaps there’s even two Seattle scenes simultaneously, one more Glam and the other more Stooges.

Andy Wood was recognized b4 Alice in Chains but AIC were noticed b4 Nirvana. I don't think it really matters who brought attention to Seattle on the music side of things. I feel they all were talented n deserve to be respected. I'm a AIC fan from the beginning.

How to begin to know & grasp what a beautiful soul this Man truly was? Watch “Malfunkshun the Andy Wood Story”....it’s a must see for anyone even remotely interested in how things REALLY were @ that magical time in Music! He BLAZED the trail for many, he entertained everyone in his circle & in audiences of 2 or 200. Spoken from His Family, Xana, Band Members (past & present) & many others behind the scenes. ALL Love & miss this Powerhouse who tragically left us... his legacy lives on, lessons learned for many & the Music HE made, unforgettable! Andy, ur in that big arena now man & w/Layne, Chris & toooo many others❤️

The later side of the 80's was a weird time in music, on one side you had the glam metal scene, and 70's bands, English punk, and speed and thrash. Every thing was labeled. But everything was melting into something new that hadn't just found itself yet. I miss the spirit of the 90's

The real tragedy of Seattle was not the suicide of Kurt Cobain nor was it the over-dose of Layne Staley. The real tragedy of Seattle was that two days before Apple was released across a national audience, Andrew Wood was found dead. Andy, we all love you man. Rest in peace! And I hope that Stone and Jeff live on and keep spreading that Mother Love Bone Joy!

+ComaAlpha Im a huge Nirvana fan, Kurt and his music were unique and amazing, but yeah I totally agree with you, at least Kurt had time to show his art to the world, Andrew wasn't that lucky. But them both died from drug abuse, and this is what is really sad, they could still be around here if not for this shit.

Andy was too good to be allowed to rise to the top of such a sick, evil industry. Unfortunately for him, there was someone close enough to him to have the authority, and willing to throw him away - allow him to be taken. "Kevin's Mom" is Andy's mom, too.

Kurt, you don't have much of a clue about music do you??? Sounds like you might have been born after 1989. Mother Love Bone were one of the main reasons that Seattle got the attention that it did in the early 90's. This is the missing link between crappy glam rock and grunge. This was part of the start of something VERY BIG!!!

I'll take Green River or The Melvins for $500 please. MLB, to be honest, was the last gasp of "cock-rock", minus the spandex most of the time, and not really indicative of the Northwest sound that came from GR, Mudhoney such. MLB was WAY more commercial.

I first heard or read about this band back in 1990, I had bought a Rolling Stone magazine with Jimmy Page on the cover and a big article about Zeppelin and there was a short article about Mother Love Bone. I don't know why but I started looking for apple and could not find it anywhere. I finally found it in a new mall with a brand new record store. They had one copy. I had recorded it on a cassette for the car with Alice In Chains Facelift on the flip side. I lent it to a friend and he and his wife were freaking on the Love Bone and went out and bought it the very same day, by that time Apple had been reissued with more tunes and Pearl Jam just came out. Everybody hearing Temple had not happened yet. I have not heard anything new that does not suck since 2012 when David Lee Roth rejoined Van Halen and released A Different Kind Of Truth. What happened to Rock?
