Angelina picked this song because she is wise, compassionate and caring. This came out at the height of the pandemic in 2020. She didn’t self promote, or pick one of her own songs, or show off with a loud belting song, that is not who she is. She is tasteful, elegant, beautiful, and my favorite female vocalist.

I'm 67, I was never a big fan of Michael Jackson, or the Beatles, and until I found this young lady just over six years ago, I never listened to Amy Winehouse or Adele or a number of the other singers that Angelina covers. I do however go back and listen to the original artists with every cover she does, and I have NEVER listened to any that I liked better than Angelina's version. She sings with an emotion, or feeling or whatever it is, that just pulls you in and makes you live the song. I have a vinyl album collection of over 500, and I only listen to this young lady.

@@MarkoTiano, Probably for the same reason I'm not a big fan of Picasso, Elvis, Adam Sandler or Tchaikovsky. I don't care for their style. I thought MJ was cute when he was little, but I'm not a Pop fan. My music taste always centered more around the Rock of the late 60s and 70s or some of the newer (30 yrs ago) country. All my parents ever allowed in our house was old Country. Also later, with all the little kids he always had at his Neverland Ranch, I didn't find a lot appealing about him. Different people have different tastes, and he's not one I was ever a big fan of, whether he was "labeled" the King of Pop or not. Elvis was labeled "The King" also, but I wasn't a big fan of his. 🤷‍♂

@@AJfanboy1 The kid situation is irrelevant ( even though very traumatic) but i m talking about strictly talent. Angeline is 13 here, a pure super talent but Michael was 5! And he sang with the same intensity like James Brown or Aretha Franklin, all that at 5 years old. So yes i do believe he was the grestest talent the world has ever known...there was a reason he was so famous and it was the talent. Elvis was a star to its own but MJ was light years above him.

Angelina Jordan is famous for her ability to achieve perfection in the lower register, something few child singers can match. Yet, many of us wanted to see Angelina employ a full high registry. Angelina's met and exceeded this desire with her singing of "I Have Nothing" as part of a live stream Whitney Houston Tribute (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4XGp6mFa6dmf9E) in 2019. It's worth noting that "I Have Nothing" is one of the most technically difficult songs to sing. Very, very few persons, adult or otherwise, can even come close to Whitney's masterpiece. It's in this song that Angelina brings in her upper registry and knocks the ball out of the park. At age 13, Angelina's vocalizations in adapting Whitney's song to her own style isn't better or worse than Whitney Houston's original. She is in fact on par with this great artist. If you had only one chance to hear a single Angelina Jordan song, this would be it.

I would like to remind once again what is special about this spectacular performance. Angelina received an invitation to this official event *"virtual visit from Crown Prince Haakon of Norway to the state of California"* , which was held in this form because of the pandemic. Angelina's live performance was part of this event via *Livestream* . Would love to have you young ladies react to Angelina's cover of Natural Woman. Its more a tribute than a cover, as it was recorded just a few days after Aretha's passing. Angelina abrubtly ends the song for a moment of silence. She is truly the most honest, thoughtful vocalist to come around in a long time. Charlotte, you are correct to say she is not a diva. I don't believe there is a star in this mother and daughter duo, they form a balanced duo of charm, sympathy and talent. One thing that catches my attention is the total control that Angelina has in her performances, whether due to the magnificent respiratory support or the musical knowledge she has. Mother you nailed it. Only AJ would be ideal for what you suggested. A very profound child prodigy/ Beautiful young lady, 16 now, she stands tall,literally over 6.5 foot. She is the full package of Greatness. I never get tired of watching people react to AJ wether new or not. I don't know Any child who covers songs from different errors, that can sing various genre's, sing cover songs with Sooooo much raw emotion that you at times you forget who the original artist actually is ?? Adele when she sings the song it comes out as clear, but firm with no verifications in the song, But when Angelina sings it she has a way of adding to the song with her raspy, breathy voice it is as if she is finessing the song, with the changes she makes with her voice. You get part of it with her strong belting voice in parts of it then you hear it is like she is whispering in the soft spots where she needs it to be. She has total control of her voice and uses it to make it into her song without trying to copy the original singers style, because she always has her own style to add to the song.

Angelina chose it for this special occasion of the Crown Prince's virtual visit to California to discuss innovative ways to combat climate change. I watched much of the conference, and it impressed me that Norway selected Angelina to provide this musical introduction to an important event. (If I'm honest, I have to say I prefer all of her other NGT performances over "Gloomy Sunday", but it _is_ the logical place to start with those performances. And you _have_ to react to all of them, eventually. So you might as well start at the beginning, right? Right.)
