I'm 62 and grew up in Georgia listening to Mother's Finest and I never understood why they didn't get their due recognition. I actually went into a grocery store one night and the cashier said Mother's Finest had just come through and even autographed a paper bag for them...true story. Every song just blows me away. No one like them ever.

I am in Alabama and they used to play at music festivals outside in the middle of the summer in the heat. everyone loved Mother's Finest and they didn't get half of the recognition they deserved. they still perform mostly in Europe. look up the 1976 performance of Fire on Don Kirschner's. their talent is so good it's ridiculous

I'm 61 from Amsterdam in Holland. Never had the pleasure of seeing them live, but I also never understood why they were so underrated. This song made us throw our purses in someones lap and storm the dancefloor. It still makes me dance- the hardcore rock/soul/funk with the incredible voice of Joyce Kennedy- it's unheard of. Very authentic, still one of my favourite lovesongs EVER.
@josebrown596121 күн бұрын
@@smoly37They were so “underrated” because they were black. Black radio didn’t get behind them. I am talking about nationwide not the East Coast soul stations. So black radio didn’t back them and Rock radio didn’t back them either, mostly because they were black. I know that sounds weird but that’s the way it used to be in the US. I was a black teenager and the only way I heard about Mother’s Finest was a white employee of my dad’s. He had moved to Chicago from North Carolina and he had one of their 8-Track tapes and I was curious. He played a little for me and I was hooked. I even became a DJ and even then I couldn’t get my Program Director to let me spin Mother’s Finest.
