@@Nics574 pH+ products strip wax and other protectants, leaving the paint naked. You want to use a pH neutral product if you don't want to strip wax. Automatic car washes are the devil.

I disagree because pH only tells part of the story: concentration of pre-washes is never on the level of prewashes; hence why spray on wax comes out fairly unscathed

@@Nics574 laymen example, if you go to a big rig truck was (blue beacon) they offer what is called acid wash. It does great at getting EVERYTHING off. Bugs, clearcoat, all of it. If they put it on aluminum wheels it makes it very dull over time. If you do this you better be ready to pull across the parking lot and wax it and polish it. That's what acid or high ph levels do.

I've been using the Maguire's now for about 2 months. Used it on a 2012 F350 and a 2016 S60 with excellent results. The shine is still deep and it beads water as well as the day I applied it. No complaints here.

Agree. There's a difference between professional expectation and consumer expectation. I just need a car that does not look dull. So, I usually do a wash and spray these aftermarket wax and dry type of products. It gives me good enough shine for my expectations. Takes me less than an hour's work.

My view from watching a few videos, seems to me the Meguiar's product would not be washed of so easily, if its used as some say and do, is to use it when your drying your vehicle after washing it so your always applying it.

I realy like CMX, It looks like I put on a glass coat. I've put 3 coats on my Rouge , I just corrected the paint on my truck and put on CMX and OMG is it glossy. Dirt just rinses off with water love it.

I have used Meguiars for many years. I have a 2010 HD Heritage and have used Meguiars gold car wash and Meguiars liquid polish and detail spray. The bike looks as good as it did new. The ticket to all of this is do the job often and most any of these name brands are good products. F11 is a joke for the price. Just do your job and wash and wax often or when your car of bike has been through some bad weather. If I get caught in the rain on a trip, as soon as I get home, the bike gets washed to remove all the road film which is loaded with chemicals from other vehicles. I will keep using Meguiars and keep it clean.

Some other people mentioned this, and I totally agree. You're using a off the shelf product, that's geared for consumer usage. Your tests should be done with the consumer in mind. I'm not a professional detailer. So I'm not using any of those professional degreasers on my car. I've never even heard of those products before. So the chances of me using any of them on these types of waxes, is slim to none. I would have preferred you to do things that the normal user would do ie: regular car washing.

I have found your comparison quite interesting. I have a 1981 truck with single stage paint no clear coat that I am trying desperately to shine and protect from the environment. I am afraid that I am going to go through the paint if I continue to buff it. I am looking to limit the time polishing it and wanting to protect it. The Meguiars looks like the product that I would use. I am shocked that the Mother's did not hold up as well. And it is faster and thicker than the Mothers CMX. Thank you for your video.

Thx Jim. You are providing a great service. I had to correct poorly applied 1st coat on Megs where it dried and left hash marks. I noticed it several days later, and using a good super clean, was able to remove and reapply in much better light. So, not only are these products good, but they are forgiving. Much appreciated! Another eye opening comparison. I watched the Apex comparison where he used mechanical means to try to remove then and they both kept going. Now that the paint on the door panel is about to give up the ghost, it would be great if you could replace it with a hood or some other symmetrical panel since the curves and the DENT makes the angles different on each side and might affect how the water flows off.

I used, for the first time, Meguiars Hybrid Ceramic wax on a 2007 car (never polished paint) and 1 month later, the water beading and sheeting was awesome. I washed the car 1 time a month and it's doing a great job. I diluted 1:5 in water and will see how long it will last !

What I will use this ceramic spray is during winter wash spray it on to keep less scratches from car washes with all the rock salt out there but when the weather start nice I will come back using quick wax or the ultimate wax for my car. Between wash you can use waterless

I found a stellar cleaner degreaser is Zep Professional Purple concentrate cleaner. That even beat some harsh chemicals for cleaning I've used to get baked on grime on some old car rims. Spray on for a a minute, power wash and BAM!!! Cleans right off. That would clear all this stuff off, the best purple cleaner I've found.

I'm curious why apex had completely opposite results with the mothers. I'm looking for something durable I can put on my boat once a season. I want to keep it looking nice but not spend all day polishing it moe than once a season. So far I have found nothing that can last 4 months in the conditions my boat goes through. Jimbo, For all those commenting about the clear coat being thin now and a little burnt in the one spot. For a good product that should not make a difference. I own multiple Jeeps but the two that are my daily drivers are a 2008 Jeep Compass , and 4 month old 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Thanks to you I been the turtle wax ice spray wax, on both of them. Now the compass after being 10 + years now out in the Florida Sun never garage kept has some clear coat burn in hood where the contours make a nature crevace for water to go down. Also just the paint not horrible but seen better days and it is a black metallic like your test panel . I will tell you the turtle wax holds up just as well on old beat up paint as it does on the new paint on the my Grand Cherokee. Thanks for testing all these products out especially since others have stopped to just shill for there own product lines.

You have a fan in me and I really like these videos, just not sure what conclusion you came to here, after using ipa. Also, I just can't wrap my head around why the control acts so differently once you start slapping on the degreasers. Why does it sheet so much slower? It doesn't make any sense when you think about it. The control section sheets water at a decent rate in the beginning, while the other sides bead. Next thing you see after degreaser application, is all 3 sections go almost completely flat. What is that sensation? Something is off. It could be me, so I'm not ruling that out. Otherwise, i really appreciate your hard work, I don't think I'll ever get tired of these.

If you live in a high rainfall, rural environment where the roads are often wet and often filthy water beading becomes very important as an aid to keeping the car clean between washes. Likewise if you live somewhere with cold winters and large amounts of salt used on the roads the less time pollutants spend on your vehicle is important.

Personally for me, I feel these new ceramic spray coatings have a long way to go in research and development yet. Thought I'd mention that I had a much different experience with CMX. It sprayed on thick, and per the instructions I wiped gently then let it sit for five minutes and it had flashed SUPER hazy. The wipe off was crazy tacky at first then astonishingly smooth. It looks remarkable and water literally sheds to the point the panel feels dry. Haven't tried McGuiars because I'm so content with the CMX. Side note: it works great on eyeglasses, watch faces, and smartphones too. 😎

Watching from Australia where the sun burns a hole in your underwear.. I applied mother's CMX on my 2013 ford ranger... I did the clay bar The 3in1 ceramic polish Then the CMX ceramic spray.. Did this 4 weeks ago, ute sits in the sun all day, so far it still has a deep shine and is beading when I spray the dust off.. I drive dirt roads everyday. I'm no professional by any means, but for a Australia summer, I'm pretty happy with it so far.. For the price, if I can get 3 months out of it, then I will be happy...

I used it on a 2000, Chrysler minivan with good results but being my first time working with Nufinish I stained the black plastic trim. The van also had some damaged areas on the clear coat that appeared white after applying the Nufinish . I was overall happy with the shine and smoothness of the paint.

Coming from old school Sunday afternoon cleaning the car with my Dad in 1973 on his new Lincoln Mark IV we used Simonize paste wax in circular motion with an applicator. Then used a bath towel to buff it off. Took the whole day. Recently my shiny new car needed a wax solution, I went to Auto place to look around. I read all the bottles. Wanted a easy on simple off process. I chose the Mothers CMX. To date I stacked 4 coatings on a 2021 Porsche Macan (on my YT channel) Used a mf cloth to apply, was quick & a mf cloth to buff. It comes off easy but the buffing is a pain in the a. I guess that holds true for any spray wax. I did hear of a Maguire’s that is spray on rinse off. I would try this on my 2009 Denali since Im not going to buff out that beast.

Megs is $10 after rebate and CMX is $20 hardly a big price difference. While they give up the ghost quickly for Jimbo and this panel that's not the consensus results. I think understanding this whole new class of product is a valuable exercise as well as understanding why Jimbo is seeing worse performance than a decent quick wax!

@@GrabberBlue5.2 - im glad you said something as well. I did notice these straight out of the bottle. The seemed to go away for me if I gave the bottle a good shake, but its def something that I do not like about the product and im not sure why it does that.

Due to the chemistry of CMX Ceramic Spray Coating, it just happens to be more visible / substantial than other spray products you’re used to, but rest assured that it will not affect performance or harm your paint. It dusts away with little or no effort, and is not considered a problem. We are addressing this from the user experience side in our instructions, aimed at minimizing overspray by recommending spraying the product onto a microfiber towel or applicator pad. Jimbo honestly I love the Mother's CMX. You should have given it a 24hr cure time before wetting the surface, however I do understand the point of your videos.. EXTREME !! 💪 NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN APPLY A THIN LAYER OF SEAL AND SHINE ON TOP OF THE MOTHER'S CMX?

@@autodetailingpodcast I'm loving the slickness and protection it gives, the gloss after I polished my vehicle and clayed and used iron decon on and put a Mother's polishing glaze for extra shine and finally the application of the CMX was awesome. Would it be a better place for 🐢seal and shine to protect my wheels?

Jimbo, Got a question. Let me know if I am correct or not. Either of these products can only be applied over a ceramic coating OR a virgin surface. Neither can be applied over an existing wax or sealant on the paint.

The key is to do the base coat. Then rinse, spray, rinse again and you have two coats at the beginning. Top with BM and boom

I have been putting off ceramic coating on my black ram because every time the sun hits it right( pas3senger panels,and passenger side of hood) i m finding more scratches,nothing major but they add up.so more correction required.just doing easy remove wax for temporary protection.was considering megs hybrid....now i have no clue what to apply when i,m done.looks like you saved me money.

How about sun protection in the Florida sun.? Good as, better than or worst than regular polish and wax,

Anything synthetic will last longer then a natural product.
