a very useful tutorial piece, but adding an octane object to the linked car to the camera will do the trick without moving everything else, only the wheel have to be excluded to get the motion blur so in this case we will have to set the object tag of the car to transform/vertex instead of motion blur only..here is a very useful tutorial as well to compliment this great tutorial in how to set the motion blur in a simpler way..kzbin.info/www/bejne/apaxfpdupbx1fqs

Can you explain? I watched the video but i dont really understand by what you mean by "without moving everything else".
@TheDizzyViper5 жыл бұрын
by everything else he meant, instead of not moving the car but the whole scene, just moving the car and not the scene.

Very Nice! I never would have thought of moving the background to achieve motion blur like that.

Hey, I found something interesting in OTOY doc which may help you in future project if you wanna move the camera: DISABLE CAMERA M.BLUR You can activate this feature if you want to see only the motion blur of the objects, but not the motion blur effect of the camera. It works effectively when both camera and objects are moving in the scene.

Thanks for the tutorial! This is the first time using motion blur on octane, looks really good, I just can't export the image with it :( idk why in my live viewerit looks with motion blur, but when I render to picture viewer it looks static

what to do if i have a scene where the camera is following the car and i want to have a car in focus, wheels blurred out and background to be a bit blurry as well? im really struggling with it. does the octane object tag actually make it so that the object will or wont have any blur at all? do i need to have it on every single object of the whole car or on the group of the objects?
@TheDizzyViper Жыл бұрын
Good question! yes if you use an object tag that will have the desired effect. It might not always work in the live viewer, but it 100% works in the picture viewer once you render. (for the live viewer, go back and forth a bunch of times in your keyframes, its a bit bugged, and will work like 1/10 tries to get the blur correctly) The tag only has to be on the parent null of the car, not every object inside. For the wheel blur make sure to use a sampling step of 10 instead of 1. you can find that setting in your octane render settings. Otherwise your wheel will look mushy, even if you have done everything else correctly :)

instead of moving the whole scene a better way is to use a target camera with octane camera tag attached to the car and animate the car moving to get more realistic motion blur.Still dope work

Thanks for breakdown man. Can you give some tips for headlights too ?
@TheDizzyViper5 жыл бұрын
Hey, im glad it helped. The headlights are just emissive materials. But the glass infront is not a specular material, but a glossy material with an index of 1 (chrome) and an opacity of ~0,2. that way you still see the reflections on the glass but the light doesnt get scattered everywhere :)

SilentGaming Yes to me, because I have never used this software before, so when I watched the video and he said “Tokyo”, I honestly wondered if there was a folder of hidden Tokyo photos that were being used as references.

yes and also Turbosquid and CGTrader. But i mostly just google for a certain 3d model like "delorean 3d model" and click through some links. eventually i will find a decent one. Also what i often do is apply a subdivision surface to the cars, that doesnt always work tho :)

Its a vdb volume. Or as alternative you can also use TFD to simulate it
@aleevsergey5 жыл бұрын
Yep, can u show usage of vdb?
@TheDizzyViper5 жыл бұрын
Theres not really anything you do to the vdbs inside C4D. Usually they are created using simulation software like SideFX Houdini (i did not create these. they are as stated in the video, by Mitch myers). Then imported into Octane. After export you cannot change anything but the scale of the cloud/smoke. So all I did was import it and position it correctly. So there is nothing to show that is not shown in the video.
