How FAST can you program the crane to move between point A and point B? I would like to use this as a motion control camera for live action to match an actors normal speed.

Hi. I have never used Canon before hence I've got question for you. In setup section of your video you were saying instead of using photo mode in app you use video mode and just running video record on your camera. But in the editing section I see you have a bunch of photos on your sd card instead of video files... Is it the way canon camera works or am I missing something?
@nickrichardsfilm7 жыл бұрын
max chebotnikov the camera works independently to the gimbal, magic lantern raw gives you cinema dng's once you've processed them with mlrawviewer. Hope that helps

Perfect tutorial, anyone with any knowledge of cameras and gimbals should realise you don't need magic lantern to do this, hell, you could do it with regular video and just speed it up in post. The point of this was to say how to use the gimbal to perform a motion time lapse, which he did perfectly, stop crying over the use of swearing and go watch censored kids tutorials elsewhere
@bhatchinu7 жыл бұрын
is this a move shoot move type of timelapse or is there some motion blur in shots?
@nickrichardsfilm7 жыл бұрын
Chinmay Bhat the images are taken continuously so depending on your shutter duration and the speed of the gimbal there could be.

GianLorenzo91 The time lapse does NOT have a 5 min limit. Actually the limit depends on the interval. You can easily have several hours with a slower (less frequent interval)

Sorry but this is not a very good tutorial. It relies completely on having Magic Lantern installed on your camera and not everyone is comfortable doing this. Also you have to understand what shooting RAW video actually means for your workflow. Also saying in a tutorial "I don't really know what this does" is not good. Some good info here but could be a lot better.

Gimbals are not made for motion time lapse unless everything is moving inside the shot in a madness clip. The minimum angle of rotation is not small enough to get a soft transition like in costly pro gear (tens or hundreds of a degree), that is why it is jerky and can not be repaired in any way. Manufacturers know it but still use it as a tool to sell because most buyers do not understand, do not complain, are amateurs or use the gimbal only for what it is intended to do but...internet accepts anything. Everyday a deers goes out, whoever hunts it, owns it.

This is far from a professional or educational video. He swears/curses at least twice during the video, including calling your product a "bastard". And uses a technique that requires installing custom firmware onto the camera...

yeah, and you don't have to use MagicLantern, but if you are a serious Canon filmmaker you probably want to... it's no biggy.
