When I pictured myself in the movie theaters where my loved ones were there to see my name on screen I couldn’t stop crying. It made me realize that it could be POSSIBLE. This can be my future. I guess those were tears of realization. I’m a recent graphic design graduate who during the pandemic couldn’t get a job. I was really depressed until I started to draw…again. I stopped drawing for a while but now being all alone at home at my parent’s house I felt drawing was the only answer I had where I felt really really happy. I began another journey going back to art school to pursue animation. I want to work at pixar and create life changing movies. My dream is to tell my kids “Hey kids I made that movie.” 🥲 sorry if this is super long but just wanted to say thank you to Bobby… Bts I’m taking Schoolism lessons in my free time and its sooo amazing. Thank you so much for this opportunity.

You description being in a theater, it's a funny thing. When I've worked on animated features, nothing major honestly, my whole family would go with me and when my name would appear in the titles they would point at the screen and shout 'Oh it's you, that's your name'. It's a weird experience to have.

Don't get me wrong, leaving a mark is important to me and I want to be an active member of the industry but I've figured out that I have my personal identification of what's makes me happy, I enjoy the small things. Maybe for me it's important to just keep moving.

You see i still don't know what I wanna do. My head isn't clear enough. I'm not confident in my skills. I can only make pencil drawings. I don't know how to practice to reach the level of artists I admire. I don't know what to do with my current skills. Is it even possible with the environment I'm in to even be happy with art?

Imo its important at the beginning to just focus on the joy of creating. If youre makin art for anything else except your passion for the craft theres a high chance itll be a dead end. Ofc you should be serious about it if you wanna get somewhere but never forget the fun in it. If youre stuck and feel like you cant progress tho, then maybe its time to look for feedback or a teacher - art cant be created in a vacuum. And while art schools arent a necessity its also almost impossible to always grow only on your own, if you dont get new perspectives in life youll start to run in circles... However dont be discouraged by this - keep working on your fundamentals, everyone that ever worked in the industry enevitably started out just like you! The most important skills in art are observation, critical thinking and determination (with a good dose of thick headedness xd), so just stick with it, youll get there eventually
