My daughter has been on dialysis for 8 months and was diagnosed with diabetes since she was 13 . Her blood pressure has been skyrocketing for the last month. She has been in the hospital since May 27 and she doesn’t seem to be getting any better. She is on 4 different kinds of blood pressure medication but will be taken off one soon. In the last 2 weeks the doctor is ordering for 3 liters of fluid to be pulled out per treatment .! She screams in pain after each treatment. I can only hope and pray she is getting the proper treatment medically possible. I don’t know if she will make it home to see her 2 baby girls. Please help me pray for her.🙏 She is only 30 years old.

I am really sorry to hear about your daughter. One thing I personally found out for myself when I was ill and suggested to my doctor was A possible Vit.D3 deficiency. I asked to be tested and found out I had almost no vitamin D..( 6ng,). It was affecting my blood pressure and they wanted me on BP meds. I refused and instead changed my diet and started taking D3 and K2. That was 13 years ago and I am now 70. I have never had a blood pressure issue since then. I would perhaps have your daughter be visited by a functional health doctor. As a mom myself I feel for you and will keep you in my prayers.

Potassium indeed! Years ago I "drowned myself" in water. Meaning, I drank so much water I flushed the potassium & sodium out of my body sending me into a grandmal seizure while I was working. That seizure made me hit my head, end up in the hospital in a coma. The good lord kept me alive. Undoubedtly as a complete depletion of potassium and sodium can also give you a massive heart attack. We are what we put into our bodies.....we become the fluids and foods we put into our bodies... I became a fish out of water by literally drowning myself by the water I consumed and flushing the minerals & vitamins my body needed to function. If you do anything with your day worthwhile, add these videos to your daily routine. It can save your life, literally. And these videos will give you a new lease on life! A new "you" by taking care of you and understanding how our bodies truely work. How our health is literally connected to all we consume. That consumption starts with the gut & moves throughout our bodies from there. God bless this doctor. Mine put me on a cocktail of perscription meds after my seizure and coma that would've killed a horse :(. My doctor put me on Xanax 10mg x 4 times a day Valium 10mg × 4 a day Flexral 10 mg x 4 a day Vicodin 750mg x 4 a day Blood pressure meds x 4 a day Naprisan 200mg x 4 a day Tegretol 2000 mg ER x 2 a day No, this is NO joke. I have the medical records to prove it. These prescriptions went on for YEARS. I should've died. A "cocktail" of medical poisons that I should not even be here to tell you about. A "cocktail " of pharmaceuticals that my "candy doctor" as Colorado patients like to call him, should have killed me. Instead I woke up one day, started reducing my seizure meds, all meds on my own. Weined myself off of them....slowly! My doctor was very unhappy. As my blood tests that I was required to take every 3 months showed significant reduction in tegretol etc...this was my choice & he was unhappy. I've had NO seizures since the day I started my SELF medical care. Not one. After my initial seizure at work, I had many after including when on medication. No, I've had not one. That was 10 years ago. Not one medication has entered my body in any form. After research and classes on natural healing for two years, my journey into mind, body, and natural healing, health started. That was 7 years ago. My love for life came back 10 years ago when I chose to take myself off ALL the above medications. I have not looked back since. I baffle the medical community as I have encountered a trio to the ER recently falling on ice at a families cattle ranch out west. Why? Because i am healthy. Take no meds. Yep, they actually were bewildered. Imagine that....lol (sarcastic). We all need to understand this is a process of unlearning everything we were taught, exposed to in the name of big pharma. It is a journey that good people such as this doctor can help you meet your maximum potential for your health, physically which of course becomes mentally as well. It is all beautifully connected. Thank you sir, for all you do! Thank you sir, for being you! And I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping humanity be all they can be without the guise of "chemicals". Sincerely LeeAnn

What? So if you lose potassium it's because you're consuming diuretics. So if you're not taking diuretics and you're just urinating everyday like all other mammals do, you're not losing any minerals, water soluble minerals from the water that leaks out of your gonads,... 🤣, no no. Snooze to me I didn't know that. 😴❣️❣️❣️ I didn't realize that I have to be drinking coffee or anything like that to lose that mineral cuz I thought it was a daily ongoing process no matter what, no matter what!!!! Nobody ever mentions the fact that it's four and a half grams they talk milligrams to make it sound like it's really insignificant. Absorbing the proper amount of K everyday is a huge pain in the butt no matter how you eat if you're on keto it's harder if you're on a low fat diet if you're a pig or whatever you are I don't give a damn but this is like a big problem here. The FDA won't allow it in supplements. Mean while Atrial Fibrillation is a growing disease, and the FDA are a bunch of chimpanzees. Everybody preaches what you need but you get like what 13 bananas in your daily diet.to.get the K? Forget Keto. Potatoes... Forget those too. The Greens. Go for it if you can hack it and if you don't mind kidney stones from the oxalic acid from the spinach. No it ain't easy...

I am so glad I watched this! I went to the emergency room because I was having shortness of breath, my muscles felt tight in my neck, jaw, face, and chest. I could barely walk up the stairs without feeling faint. My legs felt like logs. My bp kept bottoming out. No one could tell me what was wrong. They drew my blood and told me my K+ was a little low, but they didn’t say what the level was. It was actually 2.8! I don’t even know how it got that low because I hadn’t vomited or had any diarrhea. I don’t drink etoh. The ED sent me home and told me it was stress. My muscles were still cramped up and no one even thought to address the K+ issue. They just thought I needed antidepressants. Thank you so much for explaining these symptoms.

My dad was having episodes of light headedness, almost passing out. He had one of those episodes when he was visiting me one time. So I took him to my doctor. She did a blood test. She phoned me when the results came back, but my dad was already on his way home and was at his hotel for the night. I gave her the number so she could phone him. She said his potassium level was dangerously low and she prescribed a potassium supplement for him. She said it could be very dangerous for him to have that low a level of potassium. I was so grateful for her excellent care of my dad. The problem was caused by his blood pressure medicine.

Appreciate your comments re magnesium, potassium, calcium, etc. I suffered with constipation for 50 years until I reviewed my own blood work and saw that my magnesium was low, decided to treat myself with a mag 750 cal 750 pot 150 supplement daily. Within weeks I became normal with regular bowel movements. I had been diagnosed with IBS and prescribed a few medications to treat my symptoms, but I decided not to take those or listen to the pat suggestions from the GE MDs. Thank you for providing a healthy alternative to treating what was for me a chronic condition that could have gotten much worse if treated otherwise. I'd also like to mention the benefits of hot water which I have substituted for the coffee I used to drink daily. My digestion is the best it's ever been.

I’m on two that are connected and seriously considering leaving one at least Sunshine. Healthy food. Attitude etc are brilliant medicines. When I saw my parents in their last years their counters were full of medicines. Worried me crazy. Like my Inlaws…one Rx often sets off another issue so another Rx comes and it continues. Yes, some are truly needed but often, our nutrition and life style can be the best medicine Outdoors. Sunshine. Not sunscreen Working in gardens. Music whether played or heard in birds singing and puppies calling, Laughter. Walking. Wholesome foods. Puppies who snuggle and give kisses, kitties who purr, Love of friends and family, and self (I fail on the last one too often). Good water, a glass of wine etc are superb medicines as are Hope and Prayer / Thinking

I really needed this explanation. I got horrifically painful long lasting cramps for years. I learned about the imbalance of calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium in the body as culprits causing my cramps. I work to assure all of the first three are available in my body during heat, times of stress, and days when I'm just not eating correctly to keep the cramps at bay. Your explanation is critical information I needed. Too much salt in my diet has been a life long issue for me (I just really like it). Now, with this explanation of what happens in the body, I can do more for my health. Thank You So Very, Very Much!!!

After watching a video on keto, I decided to cut out the daily banana and orange juice. Around that time, I started having heart palpitations at night. They got bad enough to cause me anxiety which kept me up. It was happening like every half minute. The same doctor who made the keto film had another about low potassium. So now I know, and I'm back to having a banana and orange juice for breakfast. My palpitations have pretty much ceased at night, thank God, and the weird uncomfortableness in my chest. I've been eating about 7 almonds every day for a long time for the iodine so it's good to find out they have potassium too. The weather is hot and making me sweat during outdoor work so now that I know the importance of potassium, I bought some low sodium V8 which has 20% RDA of potassium per 8 oz serving and 40 calories and also Gatorlyte, which is expensive but has loads of potassium. I was shocked to see that Regular Gatorade and other sports drinks hardly have any! Thanks for the list, I've heard Avocados and Brazil nuts are good sources too

Depending upon the type of molasses you purchase, it has anywhere from 405mg., to 850 mg., of potassium per tbsp.. Good source of potassium and iron. No magnesium though. Good dietary sources of magnesium include whole grains, leafy green vegetables (spinach especially), as well as almonds, cashews and other nuts, avocados, beans, soybeans and fish, especially halibut.

Not even one doctor and I’ve seen many including cardiologist has ever mentioned that my symptoms could be related to low potassium. 🤪 Normal doctors are very sub par !!! They don’t know much about treating people for what’s truly wrong with them 😬 I guess there are good doctors and bad doctors. I suggest people keep looking till they find a good doctor. Thank u for the information. You tube has really helped me where doctors have not 😥. Many doctors do so much harm by giving sick people drugs that make them sicker. Soooooo sad. Glenys... You're an awesome inspiration. I'm 71, dealing with horrible, life threatening allergic reactions to most prescription medications. Trying to control both high blood pressure and hypogalemic temporary paralysis withOUT any prescriptions is hard. But the price I pay for using even low dose blood pressure meds is itself life altering/WITH THE POTENTIAL TO BE FATAl. My first little episode of gout 2 months ago (allergic reaction) hurt worse than delivering 2 children, natural childbirth, with no meds. For real!!!! LastThursday, 6/29/22 I was feeling pretty good. No pains, no problems. I selling baked goods at the local farmers market and enjoying myself. I've been annoyed with a dry, hacking cough for 3-4 weeks but I stopped the Losartan 8. Days before and I'm coughing less but still pretty hard sometimes. At 11am I stand up and feel something pop in my stomach. Al mostly immediately I'm in serious pain. My stomach (which is normal lying almost flat) now looks like I have an inner tube around the front half of my body. I'm in the ER by noon. Turns out I have a hernia, ABOUT 50 CENT SIZE, with a wad of intetestine poking thru. Rush me to emergency surgery ASAP to avoid it becoming "incarcerated" which is potentially fatal if not addressed in about 6 hrs. It s July 4th, I'm back home and grateful Tobe FREE. I took no prescriptions for 20 years because of a couple of life threatening occurrences before I turNed 50. I agreed to blood pressure med/chloteserol last August. I've been sick as dog with major s**** since a paralysis episode on Xmas Day 2021. No more prescriptions for me. I have a whole Dr who believes in healing with diet, nutrition (not the same as diet) and using foods to support your body's needs. I have to keep cycling thru the mess I created until I my body in a good place (cardologist, neurologist and ophthalmologist in next 2 weeks. But we must take. Hargevof our lives and health, become less dependent on V what Dr's say WE MUST Do/ MUST TAKE or we gonna wake up 🤔 dead before our time, In a box, wondering now we got there. I'm in charge of Millie's body now. I've paid the price To be in charge of me. Be careful folks. Meds can kill you.!

Within a couple of minutes I felt dizzy, and within 5 minutes I couldn't say anything that could be understood. They took me back to the hospital emergency room. The effects of the first pill wore off after a while and I was prescribed an antibiotic that was tested with my blood. I also have many food allergies and reactions to chemicals. I also landed in the hospital as an emergency case I took a Cipro antibiotic a few years back and it had an effect on me like never before I had anaphylactic shock and I got to the hospital my blood pressure was low and I guess they got it back up with IV. I'm not taking Cipro since then of course but in some cases you have to take medication. My neighbor is suffering with cancer and he's on a couple medications and it's really helping him but in that case yes I would think that you would have to take some sort of medication and sometimes it cannot be helped.

BP was extremely high. Already on ace inhibitor, beta-blocker, and diuretic. Consequently, told me to double my meds. I asked if my meds could be changed. Mentioned, in ER situations or lab work, they find my potassium is way too low and med staff has to pump me with 2 or 3 (broken up since they are so big). The response was "this will help your potassium". Climbing stairs began exp. chest pains. Went to ER who admitted me overnight. Hosp. confiscated meds. as protocol requires, and with oxygen, breathing treatment and NO drugs BP came down from 196/105 to 120/88. There was one problem...my potassium was in the dump. Follow-up visit, I made sure my meds were changed as per outside recommendation. THANKS FOR WHAT YOU DO!

Doctors put anyone with even slightly elevated blood pressure on drugs and just say not to eat so much salt. It is far far better to increase potassium so you get the roughly 5000 mgs a day needed and limit salt to 2500 mgs a day. We are only getting half the amount of potassium while most of us get twice the amount of sodium. So instead of twice as much potassium as sodium; we are getting it other way around, increasing blood pressure. It is hard for some people to eat enough potassium daily, so find a low sodium vegetable juice like Knudsen Low Sodium Very Veggie or Mott's Low Sodium Garden Vegetable and drink a couple glasses daily to add about 1500 mgs. Jazz up the taste with a squeeze of lemon juice. Look also for other juices like carrot, orange, banana combos that are low sodium, high potassium with no added sugar and use them as the base for a smoothie with added protein. Or do your own juicing at home with all those veggies and fruits to add loads of potassium to your diet. Stick with all natural unprocessed foods and eat one big salad every day with spinach, celery, avocado, orange slices, strawberries, basically any veggie has potassium and throw some lean protein onto the salad. My husband's blood pressure was 160-170/100-110 and with no medical drugs, and in a short time it decreased to 130/90 only by adding potassium rich low sodium veggies, fruits and juices made from them. Most doctors never tell you this specific information because they support the pharma companies instead. I have owned a natural food store for 30 years, and was an educator before that, plus grew up on a farm where we ate an abundance of farm fresh veggies so I am coming from a broad knowledge base.

Thank you for posting! This is critical info for many people.I've been on blood pressure meds for several years. One weekend wondered whats causing swelling of lower limbs & bp was 205/115. Learned potassium a key in controlling fluid in body, studied sodium/potassium pump, learned we need 4700mg of potassium a day. Gee, was I potassium deficient? Sooo... Self-experiment, discovered what foods high in potassium, had already on hand,. Loaded on avocado, greens, sweet potato, more water & less salt. Ready for results? Drum roll... Swelling went down 80-90%, Blood pressure dropped to 118/70! Normal within 36 hours. My Dr didn't believe it , said my bp cuff was off. Not true. My neighbor is a nurse I had checked the calibration with her cuff.. same results. I have migraines, high bp, etc muscle stiffness aches & they were helped more by simple Nutrition! Not from the dangerous beta blocker I'm on. This man has shown you important info most drs aren't educated in, simple nutrition! Deficiencies easily corrected. Appalling. But hey bp meds are very profitable for the pharmaceutical industry not foods. Eat more of these foods & educate your doctor 😊 Also, no offense Dr. Mandell, but bananas are only 400 mg of potassium but high in sugar, 14grams. Large avocados have 700- 1000mg potassium & low sugar 1gram. Better choice.

Hello Doctor, Thank you for your explanations about a number of metallic elements in diet that are part of a balanced group that are essential in maintaining a proper fluid balance. For a number of years I have suffered from vicious leg muscle cramps. A traditional remedy given me by my late father (a very well qualified GP), was half a teaspoon of salt in half a tumbler of water, followed by a tumbler of water. More recently one time I was away from home on holiday, I was given at a hospital's emergency dept "Ural" sachets (basically sodium chloride). A few weeks ago I came across a seemingly more balanced alternative "Enerlyte" sachets, containing Sodium chloride 0.47g, Potassium chloride 0.3g, Sodium acid citrate0.53g, Glucose 3.56g. Noted "to prevent dehydration". The day preceding the evening of my latest attack, I suffered a very nasty bout of diarhoea, when I lost a LOT of fluid, but I did not take a balanced remedy then, as I did not have it. I took 2 sachets of Ural. A few hours later, another attack, and again I took Ural. It is after this that I came across the "Enerlyte", which I shall take for the next attack. I know dehydration through the day is a big causative factor, coupled with excess sweating without drinking quite enough. The other, is probably my diet which lacks a proper vegetable balance (though I do have a banana almost every day -- have for many years). I shall have to look at modifying what is prepared for my meals to ensure a better balance of those essential elements and compounds. Thank you for helping to wake me up.

Yes it is fine. See this for a more comprehensive list. This guy knows his nutrition. Snack on fruit and veggies - not salty crap. Research it yourself.

Try replacing your table salt with either Nu-salt or No-salt. They are salt substitutes which are actually potassium! Of course, first he Sure you are not taking an ACE inhibitor for bp,..or that you don't suffer from kidney disease, ..as both may cause you to have too high potassium levels!

True of coconut water, yes, carsaleslady, but also true of coconut water is that it does have quite a bit of natural sugar. The ridiculous thing is that some manufacturers of packaged coconut water still decide to add cane sugar or some other sugar to it! Crazy, isn't it?

Thank you so much. I have been in Ketosis for ten months and knew I needed to maintain my sodium levels. But still get cramp starting twitching in mainly my legs. Will measure out 5 gms of sodium a day and leave it there. Thanks for this 'deep dive' on salt.
