It was incredibly difficult to sing outside as a metal band with the set up they had in the early 80s - no backing tracks or other musicians, just four guys and their instruments, very raw, they were just getting started..and they rocked

No, utter fucking bullshit If Manowar, Judas Priest, Scorpions, Saxon and Motörhead all managed fine Vince just sucks compared with his peers
@briancross9143 жыл бұрын
@@StaticYonder I wont say Vince is some great vocalist but the bands you just mentioned also had some tours where they struggled as back then playing stadiums was extremely tough especially at festivals with 20 bands as the sound setup just wasnt that great. Back then there was no backing tracks and all this auto tune type stuff. (I agree Vince has more issues than those iconic front men you named) Crue's contribution to rock however cant be understated.

@@juantavarez05 Priest had easily 10 hard years, thousands of hours playing recording and touring over Motley Crue at this point. Halford was already a singing legend in 83. Crue were rookies relatively speaking, you can see it here. Neil is not an elite metal singer but he had improved on this performance. They blew the doors off Ozzie warming up for them a year later. As for the other comment on Motörhead, that’s actually funny. Imagine Lemmi singing Take me to the Top or Sill Loving You, that’d be weird.

This is the same show ('81 US FESTIVAL.)where Tommy Lee said in an interview only a few years later, that he went backstage and literally cried because he thought the band was absolutely terrible compared to the others that played that day. He was right..Crue were still cutting their teeth and had no experience playing in this type of live situation, and it's evident in this performance. However, they had to start somewhere, and although their musicianship was terrible (except for Tommy) there is still a cool, obvious, raw energy about them. They would later harness that raw energy into one of the best live hard rock acts of the 80s. Still enjoy vintage Motley Crue 👍

Stop bashing on Vince, he was what he was. Crue kicked ass back in the day. They were loud and raunchy with attitude. That is what rock n roll is about after all.

I saw them twice on this tour. The first time was out doors at the Monsters of Rock concert in 1984 in Nurnberg, Germany . I saw them again indoors in Erlangen, Germany and my GOD they were loud!! When they sang "Bastard' it was like the broke the sound barrier. It was that loud. On that tour they opened for Iron Maiden on their Powerslave tour. It was so exhausting that I walked out, all sweaty and Iron Maiden was still playing.

Personally, I love the raspiness of Vince. It gives a grunge vibe and I absolutely love it. But of course I’ve only been on this earth for 14 and a half years, so I wouldn’t know. But I’m fucking glad I was born and raised on rock

I like his raspiness too. The crue songs wouldn't be the same without it. That being said this isn't his best performance 😬

No wonder why Tommy Lee begged the producers to cut Motley's performance from the final presentation on cable tv. Obviously, Vince's shitty vocal performance was the primary reason, but the band fucked-up some crucial changes in about three other songs earlier in their set as well.

Being there was the best thing of 1983. Sober watching many drunk people, but me enjoying the entire day. From Quuet Riot to Can Halen. Best part ticket was only $10 Everybody can say whatever they want about Motley Cru,e, but only a sober person can really tell you that MC show as well as Quiet Riot, Ozzy, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen was an outstanding fucking show. To this day I still have the shirt; all worn out, but still have. The best thing I found.
