My G5 Plus is consistently getting 7-8 hours SoT. I can dig that. Fortunately, when I buy a phone, I don't worry about impressing others. Seems like this phone is getting a ton of hate because it's ugly. Sure, it's not the most appealing device, but it's snappy and it lasts all day. I feel like that would be good enough for most people.

Dallas Crawford does it have tmobile wifi calling?
@dallascrawford45837 жыл бұрын
juzchillz I don't have it for T-Mobile, but I'm sure a simple Google search can answer that question for you.
@Khamae777 жыл бұрын
Dallas Crawford it's not ugly, only way too big for a 5,2”. There are smaller 5,5” on the market. 7-8 SoT in one day or two?

Dallas Crawford tnx for the reply. I emailed motorola and no straight up answer. google search doesn't do it as well. I'll wait few more weeks. tnx again

Also getting the same SoT. I had the original Moto G and nothing was even close to the battery life of it until now.

Aswin Balan yea bro. G5 plus is not much of an upgrade. You can consider the redmi note 4, its a gud Rs 3k cheaper.

The US G5 Plus has a compass but the rest of the world doesn't get one. I prefer the compass.
@gPoe7 жыл бұрын
I also prefer the compass (I have no use for NFC, but the magnetometer is important to me). So I'm happy w/ that. But I do wish the US also got the standard sized G5, instead of just the Plus (I prefer a more mobile-friendly size; my old Galaxy S3 was pretty close to if not right at that sweetspot for me).

There's another feature that Motorola/Lenova does to vanilla Android, which Google stopped doing in terms of hardware: the consumer-friendly SD card support! It was a major reason why I chose an Android smartphone over an Apple way back when Apple was more ubiquitous (widgets, customization, price, & OEM choices being my other reasons). But man, less expensive & more fluid storage upgrading; transferring files to a new phone is as easy as inserting the SD card & w/ out tethering to a PC; SD is neither data plan nor reception quality dependent; & my files are w/ me, prone to local conditions where I am rather than elsewhere. I wish reviewers would also include SD card support as a feature Motorola still includes w/ near-vanilla Android that Google no longer does, even if SD card support is still a hardware standard for most Android OEMs.

I wish there was a 32gb/3gb version available in the us. I had to go with the 64/4 version just to justify upgrading from my moto g3 16/2. I didn't go with the amazon prime version because eventually I can see myself wanting to install a custom rom on it and being that previous amazon prime versions had non unlockable bootloaders I assumed this one would too.
@cpthornman7 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Did end up going with the 32gb/2gb version because of the price and haven't had many instances of apps getting killed out of memory. But the phone is fast enough it reloads what you were doing fairly quickly without having to wait. But I am not what you would call a heavy user. Will maybe have 3-4 apps running at the same time. And I don't game on my phone.

moto g5 or nexus 5x ?
@smannymanny67557 жыл бұрын
Anastasios Anastasiadis Well the Nexus 5X is better because it's a Nexus with the latest updates. The 5X is using the hexacore 808, with 2 cortex-A57 cores and 4 cortex-A53 cores. The GPU is also faster on the SD 808. Naturally it depends on the price, but if you can pick up the Nexus 5X for around the price of the Moto G5. Then pick up the Nexus 5X instead of the Moto G5.

I find the discussion about smartphone designs funny and forced when all smartphones are shaped like a chocolate bar. I mean why stretch the talk about design in all length just to come to the conclusion that every smartphone looks basically the same.

I'm not sure about them having shrunk the display, to be honest. I've got the G4, and one of my favourite things is how big the display is.

@smannymanny67557 жыл бұрын
AdamIsTalking Well the G4 has a 5.5" display, and if you get the G5 plus it has a 5.2" display. So only 0.3" difference. The G4 has a 32 bit SoC where as the new Moto G5's come with a 64 bit SoC.

This phone has missed the mark massively, the trend is going towards smaller bezels and bigger displays and this has neither.
