Beetle mapped my Guzzi 1400 California Custom and I love it. The bike is much smoother and my seat of the pants dyno says it goes even better.

I will try it on my Griso 1200 SE 2015, Klaus Bogota Colombia

Definitely worth it. Loved Bogota when I was there! Cheers.

Called in at the Moto Guzzi dealership at Bayonne this afternoon - and to my surprise, there was a Griso standing on the forecourt.. This was the first one I'd clapped eyes on - and it had a brooding presence - I felt I was in the company of a heavyweight bare knuckle fighter. It was fitted with a Mistral exhaust. While I was looking at it, a guy came out and started taking photos of it with his phone.. It turned out he'd just bought it - a 2017 bike with 15k kms on it. It was like new. What a beast..! It's difficult to get a feel for the scale of the bike from videos.. I asked him how tall he was - he said 1m82 (a tad under 6ft). He asked me if I wanted to try the riding position for size.. I found the bars a little too far forward and down.. Easily sorted. A long time since I've seen a bike with that much charismatic appeal.

I had a very similar experience to you. I had always seen them in photos and dismissed them as awkard looking. Then I saw one parked outside a pub. That was it! Like your description - brooding is right. It sits in the garage out muscling the other two for a ride. Lucky guy to get one with a Mistral. Was it carbon or Stainless? Cheers.

@@BlueMarbleRider Stainless. Yes, it had charisma in spades..

Praise be to the motorcycle gods for ye have seen the light aka 'aftermarket exhaust can'. Do it my friend! Of course the Griso will be so beautiful your good wife will find you sitting in the garage at random times just staring at it and occasionally even caressing it lovingly. Trust me; I know of which I speak.

Very informative videos. I have a 2016 Stelvio with a mistral slip on. Im wondering if i could do these mods on mine.
@BlueMarbleRider4 ай бұрын
Yes, Beetle will certainly have mods and ecu reflashes for 2016 Stelvios.

I installed a beetle map on my 2v 1100 Griso and it was the icing on the cake after replacing the shot bushing of the CARC-rod (frame-side), bleeding the clutch and balancing the suspension to my needs. Is the 1200 also thirsty when you lug it, but sings happily at higher revs including a far lower consumption? Mine does this ...
@BlueMarbleRider Жыл бұрын
Hi, Matt: yes, I find the 1200 is happy to live below 3000, but fuel economy improves when it's ridden above 4000rpm. Not sure why...! Cheers

Glad you're pleased with the results, BMR, I certainly was with my Termi map. Although I reset the TPS parameters, I haven't yet checked the valves or balanced the throttle bodies, so possibly further refinements will come. One thing I can say for sure is that my Griso definitely prefers the E5 (super) unleaded than the horrible E10 (10% ethanol) fuel the UK govt has foisted on us.
@BlueMarbleRider Жыл бұрын
Thanks. My Griso drinks 94 octane ethanol free and loves it. Cheers.

Can I assume that that the throttle body balancing is optional ?😮 That is the only thing holding me back from the the beetle map upgrade. I have the cable etc all ready....
@paunixon Жыл бұрын
@@babupranav optional possibly but not optimal. It may be lumpy and rough in some rev ranges. You can actually make your own manometer with clear plastic tubing (like in wine making) and choosing the fluid carefully- google it. I used to do all my twins like that.

It may be of interest to you that, should you be riding fairly infrequently during the winter months, that BP and Texaco E5 actually contain no ethanol whatsoever. They have to put an E5 sticker on the garage pumps for some legal reason or other. Even Shell V Power has some ethanol, I believe, on recollection it's about 3%. Best regards from Burry Port, 15 miles west of Swansea, and a Happy New Year to you.

Nice bike you got there. Just bought a 2016 Griso 8V, want to invest in a flyscreen. Yours looks pretty neat. Can you tell me what brand/model you got?
@BlueMarbleRider4 ай бұрын
Yes, it is a Dart Flyscreen.

What a great place to ride bixe! Is it Vancouver island? Presumably when you sell the exhaust you can sell the map with it and get some money back.
@BlueMarbleRider Жыл бұрын
Yes, gorgeous place to ride. I don't think you get the money back (like you do on my other bike - the RS with Ivan's Maps), but I don't mind paying an extra 100 knowing the map will be perfect. He gave them away free for years. Cheers.

The Mistral Hi-Pipe is, in our experience at Motomoda, the best readily available aftermarket can for the Griso, it's the reason both of my Griso's have them as does Beetle's own 1400 Griso we built for him. As noted in this video the 8V Griso is never going to be a rocket ship. The most you will get out of one is *about* 100 RWHP. The big advantage of the Mistral Hi Pipe is it's length. This motor is one that works best with a long pipe. Yes, at the moment short pipes are in vogue but the laws of physics dictate what works, not fashion. The fact the Hi-Pipe also looks good is simply the icing on the cake. It's interesting to note as well that Beetle has worked with Mistral as well after the success of his mapping work with their products. That probably tells you what you need to know about the product as it's pretty rare for Italian companies to look outside of Italy for expertise but the Hi-Pipe with dB killer map remains the most highly developed of Is products simply because the development work was done on his own machine, (When it was a 1200.) by his anally retentive good self!😂 Sure you can fit a short, open, pipe. It will be raucous and attract the attention of the wallopers and Karens far and wide but it's real downside is it will gut the bottom end and midrange torque and that is what makes the 8V such a pleasure to ride. You'll also find that the machine will run better with a dB killer installed whatever exhaust you choose but the Hi-Pipe is the only aftermarket pipe Beetle has built a 'No dB killer' map for. It makes for fractionally more top end but it's main purpose is to give you a headache. It is of course, for 'Track use only'.
@BlueMarbleRider Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, Peter. I would like the high pipe plus DB killer...Pity they don't still make it in carbon. Cheers.
