Me too. In fact more than an "S" shoud be totally "FT". And the best HD on track were their mid750 flat trackers, sadly not on roads like their chops and customs. I think, despite I don't like personally any kind of tech digi controls on motors, it only lacks not offer low displacement and A2 License compliant bikes. Many countries in the world are more favorable to "small" bikes like 400-750cc. HD would take a page from Enfield's play book and make well built bikes of that size (not counting the crappy Street series) they could sell well in other countries. A new Softail costs as much as a 2 bedroom apartment in my country. No thanks.

@@benkrom2737 you must be an American. Most of the people who ride bikes as a form of transportation live in Africa and Asia. That's over a billion riders. For these people, 500cc is big and anything above 800cc is ridiculous. Most speeds are BELOW 45MPH, and on small tight roads. If any American company truly wants to sell large numbers and get a grip on the global market, they MUST make bikes 700cc or less. I really don't understand why people are comparing the Sportster S to the Scout. HD clearly designed the bike to compete against the FTR. I’ve taken mine on overnight camp trips consisting of dozens of dirt road miles, ripped wheelies in the straights and leaned far enough in the Oregon mountains to make my inexperienced butt pucker. So I’m probably biased and am more than happy with my FTR. BUT! If I hadn’t fallen in love with it beforehand, I would honestly be choosing between these two.

The Sportster S seats in between the Scout and the FTR and I don't think it beats them when it comes to what the bike is all about. The Scout is a low to the ground high revving cruiser with great looks and great power. The FTR is a flat out tracker with looks to go along with it. The Sportster S looks good but it looks like it doesn't know what it wants to be. I would of been great to see this engine in a bike that looks more like a Harley 48. Personally I would not choose the Sportster over the FTR and the Scout is cheaper and more in like to what I would want out of a cruise. Looks, plenty of power and a lower seat for that bobber look.

But I think Indian is thinking that if you want a sporty ride on the road buy the FTR S if you want to a fastish cruiser get the Scout. HD is clever cause the new sporty S is bang in the midle of the tow Indian models in terms of power and price. So now it seems to be a golden option especially here in UK with UK prices! I still want to see the Bromx with the same power and torque figures as the PanAm and that will fill the whole left by the Ducatis Monster 1200! So far I'm loving this cruiser revolution and I hope this will lead to more intresting bikes. Remember the Voctry Octane maybe Indian will put this on the market as a new model. In the USA, old Sportster with alarm, paint, and Abs almost $12,000. For $15,000 Sportster S you get so much more and no Stage 4 needed!!

The price of the bobber is quoted without ABS. By the time you add ABS, pipes, and better shocks you’re looking at the same price point as the Sportster S. I love the looks of the Bobber better but seems like Harleys tech might win some people over.

It's a good comparison. You either want simplistic riding with the Indian, just start and ride and not to much to worry about or focus on other than the looks or all the gadgets harley where theres more on the screen than the bike. Two great bikes being made but Ill enjoy the Indian more for me but would like to try the sportster :)

I like the Harley more, but the price makes me happy with my scout bobber

Aesthetically I really like the look of the Sportster S, but something about the riding stance looks uncomfortable to me! Not sure if it's just my imagination though.

So bottom line to what you said; Indian taught Harley how to redesign the Sportster and make it a better bike? Kinda like when the 111 out performed the 114, HD answered with a 117, Oh that's right then they did they did the 116 that blew the 117 out of the water. I wonder what the Scout will have next year?

I like the Indian. It comes in a dark green. Reminiscent of the ww2 military harleys. But I don’t know if hd has any of the same color

Sportster S all day long. Everyone want technology well there it is . But now everyone will bitch about the price. Pick one or the other. Shit isn't free.

This video should have been comparing the Sportster S vs. FTR. Both are inspired by track bikes and focus more on performance. The scout is designed with a different mindset and was no point even being compared in the video. One of the biggest difference I look at between Indian and HD is while both are American brand motorcycles. Indian actually makes an effort to be American made while HD core of it's motorcycles are made in China. I do agree HD needed to start making improvements and it should have started long ago while still keeping the HD tradition. Indian has been doing this successfully for years while HD fell behind. The new HD bikes are nice and they are tapping into a market for new riders. It will either be a success or HD will stay in decline.
