As I say, love the bike and its looks, but after test riding two bike last week, with an electrically adjustable screen and the adaptive cruise control which was amazing, I'm now gutted not to be seeing it on this bike for 25. @@markwallace9436 Sat on the 24 model 1000 , hey it’s super easy to just loosen and retighten by hand two knobs. Would you recommend the Versys S to a prospective buyer based on your ownership experience ? Is the 4 cylinder engine super smooth or just average smooth? Is the quick shifter smooth and reliable ? Thinking of buying one as an upgrade to my Versys 650. Done 15000kms on the 650, hasn’t let me down , but likely this maybe my last bike at nearly 60. Was tossing up on this or the Ninja SX 1000, and thirdly the Z900, which is $8000 cheaper new . Do you think these Versys 1000 are a good buy used? @markwallace94363 ай бұрын
@@SomewhereInside Hi Mate: firstly, would I recommend this bike? Absolutely, its a fantastic bike without a doubt in my opinion. The four cylinder engine is super smooth, like a red hot knife through butter. We had the 650 version also before this bike. I'm a little older than you, but as we are on the mature side of biking, comfort has become a very important factor in bikes. As a result, we took the BMW R1250 RT out last week, that's also a super smooth bike and comfortable, but even at my age, not sure I'm ready for such a mature looking bike to be honest lol. Quick shifter wise, then that's something you may have to ask someone else unfortunately. The first day of ownership, I disabled that through the menu as I will never use that; a large part of biking for me is making perfectly smooth gear changes both up and down and I just simply love using a clutch, so I'm afraid I've never used it. Shaving a tenth of a second of a shift means nothing to me so I've binned it lol. They are definitely a good buy used, and as I say, super comfy, for me, much more so than the SX actually. Strange you mention the Z900, I have one of those too, but the RS version. Drop dead gorgeous looking bike, not sure about the snatchy throttle. Hope I've helped somewhere.

@@markwallace9436 cheers , thanks for your response, I have found on the 650 and my other bike a Honda Transalp 750 that riding in the wet riding modes ie Traction setting 2 on 650 and Rain Mode on 750 , smooths out the snatchy throttle by a noticeable margin , in fact on both bikes makes riding through traffic , navigating roundabouts , and low speed limits much more stable .

In the US the '22 model I had came as SE-LT+ (only version available) at a little under $19k. I was very happy with it. The only downsides I experienced were not so great fuel economy and the cruise control was REALLY twitchy - at times refusing to engage at all and the resume feature only worked 1 in 10 times (maybe user error?). The announcement from Kawasaki here suggests cruise control is new so maybe it's OK now. I might consider the '25 but am waiting for BMW's R1300RT. It is quite frustrating since we don't get new models until 6-9 months after release on other side of the pond - I don't understand this as it is common knowledge that we have more $'s than sense over here.

It's a nuanced thing. Larger rotor is a longer lever to counter wheel torque, without changing the friction bit that clamps onto it. But there's a tradeoff too, as larger rotors are heavier and affect handling and suspension action. You can get to the place a large rotor is hard to control warping (ZTL system on Buell). I don't recall anyone running larger than 330mm duals on anything these days, as 4-pot calipers have gotten so powerful and effective.

I own the Versys 1000 SE 2023. It's a great bike but it has its downsides. The biggest one to me and borderline game changer is its (over)weight. It's just so heavy, you can't even get it up on a center stand. In case it starts tilting even a little bit, forget about it, it's on the ground. Very hard pushing it around the garage and I know it may seem like a funny thing to bitch about, but the weight of the bike is very important. Once you start going 15 kmh, you dont feel it, but slower than that and everything else you do on and around the bike, you will feel its weight. Furthermore, quickshifter is bad, I mean very bad. I hope they did something about it on 1100. And lastly, electronic suspension, I cant feel much difference at all going thru its modes, so not impressed by that either. Everything else is fine :)

The C14 Concourse NEEDS THIS KIND OF ATTENTION AND INVESTMENT, maybe even more ! Don't let a good motorcycle die ! Give it FBW Throttle, Cruise Control, QS and VVT for BOTH cams ! Heated Seats and Grips ! Install the more modern 1441cc engine from the current ZX-14R ! Bring it forward to 2025 standards ! You know Kawasaki it's been riding the FUGLY Train too long when even The O.G 2012 Versys 1000 Cyclops it's looking more handsome than this Robotic Insectoid Transformer Origami. 🤦♂😞

Chain is lighter, simple to service, easy to change gear ratios, more efficient, doesn't jack up suspension action. There's a bunch of auto-oilers on the market to reduce maintenance attention to a bare minimum if you're so inclined.

One of if not the worst bike in this category that I've ridden. Needs a lot more than a few tweaks sadly

Build quality and engine spot on. Sadly ugly and vastly to heavy so nope I won't be buying one
