Demo’d this for a day. 170miles. My GS1300 was in for a starter relay recall. I personally preferred the horizontal twin boxer engine to this in line four. More torque, more engine breaking, more comfortable, less vibration. It’s probably a better looking bike then the GS and enjoyed the akro silencer sound. I was pleased to get back on my new GS at the end of the day.

I own a 2021 model and have 25,000 miles on it so far. It’s phenomenal, does everything you want, great engine and quick shifter, incredible handling and all day comfortable. Only downside are maintenance costs especially at required valve check intervals every 18,000 miles.

I have owned a few BMW bikes in my day. Just picked up the S1KXR and I like how it handles and it's performance. I've owned the S1KRR, R1200S, presently own the HP2 Sport, HP2 Enduro and K1200GT. I'm my opinion the XR can fill the roll of the touring bike while at the flick of a button, you can unleash the performance of a sport bike. I have yet to off road the XR but I'm looking forward to see what the limits are.

I recently "upgraded" and traded in my 22 765 RS, for a leftover 23 S1000XR M Sport, similar to the one in the video, just with all the carbon fiber bits and bobs. Fucking. Fantastic. Bike. This is my first big BMW/in-line 4 engine, I can throw this thing around like my old Street Triple, but go on a long distance trip while being comfortable. I will be doing the Bren Tune Stage 1/2, plus a de-cat headers, and a dew other things.... besides that this bike is everything I wanted.

I have the 22 XR and its fab. Not as comforable as a GS. Vibes are minimal and around what id expect for an inline four. Heat from the engine can be noticeable when stuck in traffic during hot weather. Im tall but the side stand angle makes it easy for me to get on and off the seat.

I have a 2022 with a Bren Tune. Fantastic machine, only bad part is dealing with the dealer network. Most are not really knowledgeable about these new bikes and the price of maintenance is ridiculous. 200 dollars for an oil change is stupid. I will do the maintenance myself, but then you have to buy a 400 gs911 to reset the maintenance light and timer.

yeah....was surprised at the serious lack of midrange torque this thing had when I test rode it. To be fair, I felt the same way about the Multistrada's mid range. I guess I'm reaching the point where I prefer a fatter mid range vs a screaming top end.

Great review! I have the 2022 version and the problem you talked about the sidestand making the bike lean too much is due to the weak sidestand and being a press bike, many mounted the bike while in the side stand. this bend the connection between the side stand and the frame. BMW is doing warranties on it Did mine already

The GS1300 is not the one to get if you are looking for low end and mid range Grunt to get your rig moving. I suggest the Ducati V4 ...better in every way!

And most important - before You buy "S", check if the price difference (after configuration new moto) between S 1000 XR and M 1000 XR is significant. Cause it may be not so big, and then... You might wanna reconsider Your decision ;)

I loved the look, liked how the "reviews" described it but was very disappointed when I tried it. The comfort, balance, electronics seem quite good, although the engine... It wakes up only once you already reach illegal speed. under 8k rpm it's as powerful as a 500-600cc.

For actual touring side of things a shaft drive would be much appreciated, even as an option. Pillion comfort is also compromised compared to RS/GS. Improvements there would make me consider it compared to my RS. It's a versatile street bike foremost, it's tracked as much as the GS is taken through the Sahara by the average buyer.
@valeblizАй бұрын
Yeah because we don't have enough shaft drive BMWs, you have to come and fuck this up too. Genius.
@Valks-22Ай бұрын
@@valebliz why the attitude? We're discussing opinions, shaft drive is superior for high mileage touring and would hardly impact the performance of the XR. Other then personal preference, fair, it doesn't detract from the bike.

I’m hoping eventually BMW will build the XR model variant with a shaft drive , my old K1200S had 170bhp but wasn’t the comfiest , I didn’t want to be a Charlie on the GS but did want shaft and more comfort so I went the R1200RS route but I’d certainly be interested in the XR if it came with a shaft
