I don't know how loud that Leo Vince actually is without the DB killer. I have a Yoshimura R-77 on my MT-09 which is basically a track-only exhaust and it is unrideable without the DB killer if you go for a longer ride. Without ear plugs your ears will bleed and even with good ear plugs it will still wear your ears after a while, and it attracts way too much (bad) attention, lol. It's loud with the DB killer on, uncomfortably loud without it. Decided to keep the DB killer on, it is still a lot louder than most other road legal aftermarket exhausts that you see. I reckon that Leo Vince without a DB killer is pretty close the R-77 with the DB killer on.

If you think it's too loud you can modulate the sound by drilling some holes in the DB killer too.

I had a 2016 fz09, awesome bike.get the integrated taillight, made by custom led. It's alittle pricey $130 well worth every penny. The light is fucken bright never had issues lasted over a year an half, untell my bike was totaled. Easy install plug and play. Once I did the full system exhaust and reflash it changed the bike 100%. You sir are gonna be amazed.

I have to say, I wasnt really liking the sound of the Leo Vince exhaust on this one...it was too..."wind-up car like". But once you took the db killer out, it made a world of difference. It sounds WAY better now, way better than stock. Good choice man

Do yourself a favor and keep the db killer in. I have a permanent ringing in my ear after riding my 2015 MT09 with M4 Exhaust without earplugs over a period of time :) It has a really deep tone to it.

If you want to get a clearer idea of the volume, listen to the bike's mechanical purring behind the exhaust. Stock, it's on par or just below the exhaust sound, but on the LV it's barely audible without the DB killer.

You should use a dB app on your phone to record peak decibel levels in future videos. Free and really helps quantify the volume difference (add a disclaimer about dB being a logarithmic scale tho)

@@joukescoep5150 That's fair, but they can give a general idea of relative sound intensity changes. And it is much easier than trying to find your decibel meter for the two times a year that Moto would use it and then tuck it away again.

Same type of DB killer on my Delkevic carbon exhaust for a GSF1250S. Combined with the factory PAIR system, at high-RPM when you close off the throttle it sounds like a popcorn machine *pop**pop**pop**pop**pop**pop**pop**pop*! The occasional fireball out the back is a nice touch.

Air injection system (PAIR), mixing O2 into the exhaust system after the engine. That's all that is. Blockoff plates on the engine valve cover, remove the plumbing and crap, and problem is solved. If the PAIR is left on the bike and a dyno shop runs a "sniffer" in the tail pipe, the O2 levels won't read correctly.

you can get dbkillers which restrict less sound, so that you have abit less loudness but still louder than the normal dbkiller

I love me some Leo Vince tunes! 🎶 Not to be critical, but sound-checks should be performed under a load, while riding! It sounds deeper/better, and is easier on the engine than revving without a load on it. Neutral ricer-revs are just silly. I prefer maximum flow without restrictive cat. Is that available through Leo, or do I need to get a Yoshi? Thanks for the vid and reply!

I'd cut the internal pipe down a bit to get a halfway house in terms of volume, as it'll be so loud riding without the baffle.

I freaking knew I should have stuck to my original plan which was the MT07 and put full yoshi re-map and change the bars instead I bought the 2019 CB500X with 47-49HP I guess I’m part-exing in a few days , my long time suffering wife will be pissed I watched this vid. The ONLY REASON why I went for a totally different bike was because of an accident which gave me an TBI Traumatic Brain Injury NOT BIKE RELATED but I can’t go around on a sub 100HP bike I miss the rush TOO MUCH peace from UK.

I put on a Vance and Hines exhaust system on my 88 Ninja 750.I was stopped for excessive sound by a real LAPD motor ass head Cop.So I put a quieter baffle in and passed inspection.Than when I got home.I took out the quiet baffle and rode like I didn't care.The Inspection Cop said that if I come back and am cited by another police stop.He would make me put on the stock system before he would okay me to pass inspection.I never got stopped again.You know your doing good and people can hear you split lanes when people honk their horn as you go by.Yeah I was a Hooligan back in the day.I think I'm gonna keep the next bike Stock.Maybe a windshield,comfort seat,and a slip on exhaust that isn't too loud.Motonosity.I would keep the DB killer somewhere in the garage.Just in case you have to put it back on.When I drive a car.I'm a perfect driver.Though when I get on a motorcycle.I got to turn and burn and get that euphoria of riding fast and the adrenaline pumping through my system.I really like Canyon riding as where I live we got canyons that will take you to the Beach.It's awesome fun!!!!

So in the States it's allowed to take the DB-Killer out? Cause in most of Europe it's absolutely forbidden. Even if the bike doesn't get louder than the allowed max. Dezibel-level, you're still not allowed to take it out. Sadly :(

Hmmm. Leo Vince usually has great tonal quality on their larger canisters on bikes without cats. But..... I'll have to say I think I like Yoshi R77 system better on the MT-09.

I had a Leo Vince on my ninja250r and it was way louder then stock. The dB killer must always come out. I kept mine under my seat just Incase the cops wanted to stop me. In California there is always that possibility.

lovely family man. I can't wait for my girl to be nine and hop on the back of my bike with me. I'll take her shopping for a little jacket and helmet... It will be fun :) It also looks like that baffle was preventing the exhaust from escaping out the muffler so it was leaking out of the midpipe. Not good.

I still want to know what is that bulbous bit just in front of the slip on Muffler. I can only assume that it is an resonator of some sort?

That's exactly what it is. A "pre-muffler" if you will. It's got a perforated core and is just there to reduce sound a little bit. Doesn't impede exhaust flow. I can only imagine how loud this would be without it.

What's that little "resonator" looking part in the exhaust between the muffler and the O2 sensor? Is that the cat or just a resonator of some sorts?
