In this video I'll be showing you how I clean and detail the dirty motors of the vehicles I purchase for resale. I like to clean the engine compartment and undercarriage before I begin doing any mechanical work, it just makes diagnostics and repairs go better. Plus I believe a clean motor always runs better!
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK! There is a possibility you could get something wet you shouldn't and cause damage to your vehicle. The purpose of this video is to show how I clean my motors.
Thanks for watching and supporting my channel.

This is my second time I'm commenting to you within a week. My dad a few yrs. back and left me his 2001 grand caravan sport. I just repaired my radiator, transmission filter and fluid, and oil fluid, filter. Before I did all that I sprayed engine degreaser all under the motor transmission, the whole thing top and bottom . To wash it off I used a 2 foot garden spray nasal that has different selection settings and I can adjust the angle of the head. I think work just as good and around wiring I use the shower section. I do thank you for the awesome work you do on your videos. I watch all of them on the caravan series. Many thanks 👍👍.

Thank you Little J! Unfortunately, little-ole Javo just isn't big enough to get sponsorship offers. That's okay, I like helping people anyway. I appreciate you stopping by and taking a moment to leave me a comment. I apologize for the delayed response, I've been away from YT for a while.

I pull every electrical connector. Then put Dielectric grease in them..That stops that water from getting in there.. Plus it stops corrosion or issues down the road.. And never spray them Coil over plugs. Then start it.. It can short them out..I had it happen before..So once I started using the Dielectric Grease. I never had an issue with them again..

Did you cover anything before you hit it with the pressure washer?

Why didn’t you cover your alternator, fuse box and battery? Why did you use high pressure to clean your engine?

Hi, If it's anything to be covered with a plastic bag to minimize the risk of getting wet , what connectors or parts do you suggest to cover when you power wash in the engine compartment , beside of not aiming the jet right on that part or connector ? Thanks Cornel
@javosgarage
@javosgarage 3 жыл бұрын
@thingstoknow - Hi Cornel. I would focus on your fuse box or TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) as it's called. Your TCM (Transmission Control Module) is located up behind the left, front fender so it's not accessible through the engine compartment. Avoid direct, high pressure on your wiring harness connectors to prevent a short. Hope that answers your question. Good luck on your project and enjoy your super clean motor!

I didn't know you could blast the entire engine with water like that, you even sprayed the coil which I was told to not do ?

I do, but I also realize bad things can happen as a result. As I mentioned in the video, I haven't had it happen to a car I bought for resale but I did have it happen on my truck and it cost me $800 for a new fuel injection control module so do at your own risk and use common sense. The purpose of this video was to show how I clean the motors on my vehicles.

@@javosgarage Javo, I know your videos are 3 years old, but I just completed replacing the intake manifold gaskets, and both valve cover gaskets, bother of which I've never done before. Your instruction was fantastic. I have an 05 TnC 3.3l and the only thing different than the one you showed is the fuel injector wiring harness is for whatever reason, on the drivers side and there's no metal plate to remove. I got really worried when it came time to do that step, but saw where it was and breathed a sigh of relief. I don't know if my work will leak or not, but it looks way better, and the Chrysler Dealer wanted over $7k to do the job (haven't done the oil pan gasket yet), so even though it took me 8 hrs today to do it ( I was starting and stopping your video), it was well worth it. $240.00 in parts. Thank you so much...

Sorry for the delayed response, YT doesn't send me notifications on replies, just new comments. I'm sure it's my fault but for the life of me I can't find where to change it. Anyway, super glad to hear my video was able to help you get your job done and save some serious cash along the way. Bonus! That is awesome. Thank you very much for taking the time to come back and let me know how it went. I really appreciate it.

I saw a video where a guy kept the motor running as he sprayed with water so the moisture would burn off before settling in to the cracks and electrical areas. Did you run the motor while spraying it off?

Any concerns about covering up your alternator? And any electrical components?
@javosgarage
@javosgarage 4 жыл бұрын
@Michael Monsanto - I stay away from the fuse panel and wiring harnesses but the alternator has never given me a problem. I have washed at least 30 of these motors over the years and have never had a problem. As I mentioned in the video, do this at your own risk however. Never a problem with these vans but I washed the motor in my truck once and it cost me $800 for a new fuel injection control module. It is a risk but I will continue to wash these motors in the future.

Do you have to have the car while you clean the engine
@javosgarage
@javosgarage Жыл бұрын
Hi Danny. I think your asking about having the car running while cleaning. My theory is it helps but I have no hard evidence to back that up, its just my theory. LOL I've done it both ways and haven't really had any any issues (except for my personal vehicle I talked about in the video starting at the 08:30 mark). Sorry, I wish a had a more "scientific" answer for you. Thanks fort stopping by!
