How I took my rear wheel off the SV650 (curvy 2002 model). A similar procedure for many types of bikes, just watch out if you have ABS installed as you may have an extra sensor to worry about. This will form part of a series of videos as due to recent MOT failure, my rear shock needs replacing, as does the rear hugger. As always, I have included my mistakes for your amusement and hopefully so you don't do the same thing! Please drop me a comment, and if you have not already, please subscribe.

I've watched a few of your videos. All the ones I have seen are well made and give clear instruction. They are a real pleasure to watch! I would say that the one thing that comes across is that with a little care and patience, it is possible for the home based mechanic to keep a motorcycle in tip top condition. I hope you will not be offended if I suggest that when un-doing / doing up anything that you push down on the socket wrench / breaker bar. I only mention this as I have seen a lot of people pull bikes off of the stand while pulling up as opposed to pushing.

I've just brought one, after having 3 inline fours. I find you don't need to rev as much, with the higher torque V's they'd rather pull away in the next gear with their V torque than be revved higher. Lovely engines to ride.

Really informational video, loved the step by step and the fact you are honest about the little mistakes you may make and tell us about them so we don’t do the same! The chain adjusters… do they always have to be that far back at notch 5/6 or is it personal preference on how tight you want the chain?

Love the video! Question, how do you adjust the chain tension on this bike? I have the same and I don't want my bolts sticking out if I can help it. Must they be flush, or is it okay to leave them sticking out a bit? I'd love to see/hear about it! Thanks!

I use Wurth SaBesto high performance wax lubricant, it doesn't seem to flick about quite so much, and isn't crazy money either. I do have a tiny Castrol one under the seat, in case I notice it is not looking great during a long ride.

Tamsen , I’m going to have a job when the weather gets better of removing the front mudguard on a Suzuki bandit gsf 1200s, I’m wondering if you can do this without having to remove the front wheel? Maybe a future video on how to with your own bike if you have time please?😊
@williamturner3157
@williamturner3157 3 жыл бұрын
Removed my mudguard at Xmas to remove the forks. Thinking it would be a 2 minute job but the stainless steel bolts were stuck in the rusty bracket. Sheared them off and then had to drill the stumps out of the bracket, which wasn't easy as stainless is quite hard to drill out. Used cut down Allen bolts as a replacement and cleaned the bracket with a wire brush and covered it with waxoil,or paint if you wish. The brackets are bent back to shape easy enough as replacement are expensive from Suzuki. Always the easy jobs turn out the hardest
@mrdealx
@mrdealx 3 жыл бұрын
@@williamturner3157 thanks , not actually looked to closely into it yet, can’t find any videos on KZbin with the mudguard removal on my bike. Seems some bikes are a simple few bolts and the whole thing comes out but then some bikes seems you gotta take the whole damn wheel off? Hopefully it’s the easier option 😁

@TamsenCooper 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, I am pretty sure you can take the front guard off without touching the wheel, once the bolts are undone, but if I remember right I had to angle it sideways and up to remove it from between the front forks, I will see if I can do a video soon!

@@TamsenCooper well, I'm short handed on tool selection. It took me a 1/4" hex (allen wrench), a 12mm and 14mm socket. I first I broke loose my fork caps while still on bike (set preload completely in) removed caliper, remove brake line hold downs (just did steel braided after watching your videos), took fork off axle, with fork still sealed and preload set, break lose the damper rod bolt (no damper rod holding tool needed) then open cap, drain fluid, remove inners, remove damper rod bolt, remove damper rod, slide fork out aggressively to pop out seal and bushings
