Not a lot to do, but it still takes 1 hrs. At least I would need it. A very useful video William. Keep it up.

Thanks Gregor! I am not sure how long it took to remove the wheels but it did take a lot longer than expected to reinstall them. Thanks for the compliments! Cheers!

Thank you much Rob! As you know, getting the right shots of the procedure can be tricky at times. I believe these tires will work well for what I have planned for the V-Strom. Thanks for the kind words Brother!! Cheers!

Nice and thorough! That's a bummer for sure, to lose a camp over a flat. When I pulled my tires in Washington, my buddy Tim had the tools laid out for me... I could not believe the size of the axel nut! I have read you can order I think a 27mm nut that's the correct thread. - Frank

Hmm, very true about losing a nice camp day due to a flat. That is great info on the 27mm nut also. I was really surprised how large it was.

Great video, I almost went with the same tires but decided to go with Trail Max. Thank you for getting this video out there. We need to get more 1050XT maintenance videos out!

Thanks Joseph! I will be posting some more 1050 stuff in the near future. Glad this was helpful!

Manuals are good for learning how to do something, but a video like this is even more valuable! 36 mm??? I could have lent you mine! When I started doing my own oil changes on my Spyder had to pick up one that size.
@doc650adventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jody! I did enjoy your oil change video on the Spyder! I was shocked at how large the axle nut is. More tools = more better!! Cheers Young Lady!!

Nice one brother. You're definitely gonna get a lot of milage out of those 705s, mine have barely lost any tread and I've read up on some guys getting crazy long milage out of them as well. Great bang for the buck indeed
@doc650adventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks Ulli! The 705s come highly recommended by a lot of people to include you! I have heard they offer great mileage and do well on the type of terrain I plan on taking them on. Cheers Brother!!

Thanks RodKris! It is a bigger challenge than working on the DR650 but well worth the effort to learn how to work on it. Blessings to you my Friend!

Very well done, DOC650, 36mm is a Honker for sure. if you don't have the special tool to hold the front axle, take the axle to the hardware store, get a bolt about 3" long with the head that fits in the axle and two jam nuts. Made one for my V650 for a few bucks. Easy to keep with the bike too. 705's are a good tire, Ulli is 100% right.
@doc650adventures Жыл бұрын
VW! Why am I not surprised you would have a solution for the front axle issue? Such a great tip Bro! I am going to be doing that. You are a friggin genius! The 705s do seem like a great tire. Cheers Brother!

it's been about a year since this post ... just wondering about your current assessment of the shinkos ... tread life etc. thanks in advance.
@doc650adventures4 ай бұрын
@@pnfctg12 Hey there! I really like the Shinko 705s a lot. I have over 3,000 miles on the set and I have mostly ridden on road but I have used them off road also. Other than mud, they perform really well. The front tire wear is excellent and the rear is at about 50%. In will be replacing the rear tire due to an extended long mileage trip I have coming up. You should be able to get about 5,000-6,000 miles out of a set with ease. Hope this helps and thanks for watching.
