Be careful with those aftermarket leavers because I had the same ones and they were snapping my clutch cable , 3 times to be precise 😂🙈. The cable doesnt sit centre of the gully so check your clutch lever and where the little gap is on lever where cable goes through and make sure it's not touching the sides of lever as it won't take long to go through a cable bro , i went back to stock , not as good looking bit glad I found the problem 👍🏼👌🏼✌🏼

Hey buddy, unfortunately it was all one off made apart from the headlight which I bought on ebay. I changed the light a few times due to the quality. The brackets for the speedo I made myself and the headlight fork bracket I had made to the measurement of the forks. Sorry it isn't so simple buddy

Hi Don. Just watched your vids about your FZ bom! and rebuild, very well presented and informative. I have recently got an FZ1N 2009, (what a rocket) and took interest in your channel to find the cause of failure as mine has a bit of a rattle to it. You mentioned the oil & water pump but didn't finish explaining the issue. Could you tell me your opinion of the failure please as this is something I want to avoid. Cheers mate. BTW, bike looks great.

Well done mate you should be proud. It sounds like one of the big ends gave way first to me. We had it happen on a dumper at work. That chain slapping noise could have been that Con-rod bolt. I can't see how even if the chain snapped it would break the big end. Just a thought. Excellent vid. Will you show your face one day?
@TheDonInLondon
@TheDonInLondon 5 жыл бұрын
Yes I did think that too as the cam shaft and bearings were in bad condition but again think they went due to the oil not being circulated and the tensioner bolt also went at the same time... it looks as if it had no oil but there was the right amount at the time it blew. Thanks buddy, much appreciated! Not showing my face on here for now anyway haha

There must be something that I lost in the video. How did you solved the hole in the motor? Did you welded it? How? Welding cast iron isn't something that any welder can do, the selection of filler material to weld such high carbon and thus hard metal isn't easy, not impossible but certainly not easy and permanent being a motor. Nevertheless the fact that you've made it is really awesome, keep up the good work!
@TheDonInLondon

Hey buddy, no I bought a new crank case cover for the whole engine. Thanks for your comment :)
@AntonioCabralNumberOne
@AntonioCabralNumberOne 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheDonInLondon Ah okay! By the way you could have replaced also the rotor of the alternator for a new one with protected magnetos, which many believe is the biggest cancer of this motor. With the old rotors the magnetos get lose after some time and f**k up the entire motor. Who knows if that was what happened to you, unless you haven't replaced it (not in your bought stuff list).
@TheDonInLondon
@TheDonInLondon 4 жыл бұрын
@@AntonioCabralNumberOne you are right I didn't replace it and will do soon. I didn't do it as I wanted to see if all the work would have paid off or not haha but obviously as it is all working well I have it on my to do list. The newer part is a solid magnet which means they will not fly out and kill the engine

Hey buddy, I bought most of my parts from Yamaha Fowlers online from Bristol. They have all the parts you need and if not in stock they will get it in. If the things are in stock, they arrange it next day. Orders above £50 come with free delivery. Hope that helps buddy and congratulations on the purchase!

Damn, great work bro. How's the throttle catch on your Fazer? My '06 was always very touchy but I never did the ECU work to smooth it out. Also, are you using stock gearing? If you don't do a lot of touring or track riding with the FZ1, changing the gearing gives it way more pop in the low end. A lot more fun around town. And nice liqueur cabinet, BTW.
@TheDonInLondon
@TheDonInLondon 5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha cheers buddy!!! :) mine is set to 21 on the TPS but you can always lower this to improve it which is easy to do yourself! I have the same gearing to be honest as I was quite happy with it, but you are right could change it too!

It would be interesting to learn more about the circumstances/conditions that may have played a role in the failure of rod connection. Unfortunately, your video shows a close-up blurred image of the bolt/rod connection. I understand its not the topic of your video. What I can assertion about what might have happened is that the bolt elongated slightly and broke. The extending section of the bolt was then slammed and bent in the rod race. All this in less than a second. The bolt may not have been tightened to nominal torque and/or the bolt may have had a micro-crack, perhaps due to an impurity in the material or stress during production. Would have really liked to have seen a clear video of the bolt, the all the damaged areas, including the rod.
@TheDonInLondon
@TheDonInLondon 4 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy thanks for watching and commenting. You are the first to ask about it in that much detail and the overall video was just to give out more answers to other questions. Happy to make another video and shoe the details as I am currently making her a little more tidy during this lockdown. Stay posted will sort this out to show close ups if the parts :)
