Haha thanks buddy, was a lot of work but great fun and I learnt a hell of a lot! But I would say, if it is not broken, don't mess with it haha. I am happy I managed to get the chance to rebuild it, but it was full of hard times wanting it to be simple. Thanks again buddy!

Very well done on the build!....i used the same stud extractor on a Bandit 1200 when i snapped one stud changing the exhaust...worked a treat! I also have a Fz1 and looking at the exhausts studs i think i'm gonna snap every one when i take the header off to clean around there cos the rust and the heat looks like its welded the studs in there.....a lot worse than the Bandit looked

Since you changed the crank did it have the same journal size numbers as the original? One thing about the rings, its not always necessary to change them, but i would check all of the end gaps before putting them back in. Especially when going in a different cylinder set. It should be fine though unless your rings were really bad. Looks like you may have a bit of an exhaust leak?
@TheDonInLondon6 жыл бұрын
Yes same numbers as it came as a set. The orings came also as a set with pistons and barrels to be sure. Exhaust was not on tight but yes it was an exhaust leak as i didn't want to tighten all the way. Since fitting properly she works like a dream :) few changes still to make however

@chong-kenglimdr89225 жыл бұрын
@@TheDonInLondon It's a ingenious design to lessen the width of the engine at crankshaft level. Does the starter motor spins all the time along with the alternator, or is there a mechanism which separates the two after the engine starts?
@TheDonInLondon5 жыл бұрын
@@chong-kenglimdr8922 i suppose so, not that experienced with engines as this was my first tear down and build. what was your riding style like? any signs or symptoms before the bike engine went? do you accelerated hard before the bike is warmed up (5-10 minutes)
@TheDonInLondon3 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy, no always let the bike run to temperature before riding hard, even a few minutes before setting off. She did get ridden hard most of the time as I ride quickly. I did have the chain slapping sounds coming before which was quiet to begin with. I should have stopped then and got her recovered. I didn't have much experience on engines before and was told it should be ok to get home, until the big bang 🤦♂️
