I've been using the Sears red jack , similar to the yellow HF jack , for 5 years under my Street Glide and 3 years before that under my Softail with no issues. Sure it's not as heavy as the other 2 jacks that cost 5 times as much but it's not nearly as unstable as their exaggeration in this video, it's narrower so you need to find the balance point and it won't lift a caster off the floor , jack it up , lower into the locking plate and I can roll it around the garage much easier than the J&S jack with no straps. I'll give the J&S credit for being more stable , the small foot print is nice too but I'm gonna knock it for not having a push / pull handle and having to bent down to grab the frame to roll it around or to twist the release knob to lower it instead of having pedal like my cheap Sear jack does. Or having again to bend down and set the locks instead of having a foot operated lever Sure it's nicer in several respects , they just didn't want to show you how well the cheap jack does for $400 less, and it's usable from a standing position , my J&S is collecting dust while my Craftsman is still in regular use.

I just bought a Sears Craftsman motorcycle jack (Facebook Market Place for $100) that was several years old as there are no new Craftsman jacks in any inventory anymore. I chose the old Craftsman because many of the current models are cheezed down on quality. The new ones have much less metal and the designs have shrunk down the heavy gage main frame with less bracing and no metal around the front wheels. The Craftsman jack is a beast ( almost 90 lbs ) and weighs probably 10 to 30 pounds more than the Harbor Freight and all the other knock offs. So this gave me the opportunity to buy the best at less costs and clean it up and refurbish it which I've done. I first sanded all the rust off the frame with small wire wheels and flap wheels on my drill. Then use Rust-Oleum (Rusty Metal Primer) on the whole frame followed by the Rust-Oleum Semi-Gloss Black brush on top coat. The red parts I bought a spray can of "Cherry Red" Rust-Oleum metal paint and sanded down all the rust and sprayed that on. Next a lot of the hardware was working but looked bad - especially the Acorn Nuts used on all the pivot points. I bought new stainless Acorn Nuts and some lock and flat washers and got rid of all the rusty bits. On the platform top where the motorcycle sits, I replaced the rusty Acorn nuts with some stainless-steel lifting triangle shaped eyelet nuts. The Craftsman has all M12 heavy duty fasteners. The triangle (eyelets) can be attached to the bike at first contact and the bike will not go anywhere during the lifting process unlike the loops down on the base cannot be used until the bike is fully up in the air. I've posted the final assembly build and modified skid plate on a Kawasaki Versys X300 to allow it to be lifted up in the air. The video is on my channel - LINK: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kICpmXtor76Er68&ab_channel=trekOCLVone

Well, there is a hell of a difference in the jacks. If you get a chance try one of the J&S jacks and about any other one. The J&S is a far better unit than any I have ever used before. Of course it is $500 and they offer special adaptors for most bikes. You get what you pay for. (Hopefully).

The stability test is a lie!! if you don't position the lift correctly under the frame OF COURSE the bike will wobble ON ANY LIFT LOL I have a PitBull for three years now and I wouldn't give it up for any money. It does need a near perfect surface to roll around with ease. I did however add 1/4" worth of washers as spacers to the rear casters and solved the problem. I use in in my 10x12 shed with a plywood floor (2 layer) and it doesn't not get stuck at max height. One thing PitBull has that none other lifts have is the available turntable that rotates the bike 360 degrees without having to physically move the lift, and at a higher lift, it's great to clean or work on the bike.

I just preserved an OTC jack yesterday. It should arrive tomorrow. The J&S jack looks nice, and I’m sure it works great. But for $800, you’d think they could make a bottle jack with a foot release. And, there’s a sticker that says to lower the lift slowly. On the OTC, mash the pedal to the floor and the bike drops slow and steady. And it’s less than half the cost. Not sure how well it’s going to roll around with a bike on it, but I’ll never know anyway. I bought it to lift the bike. If I want to move the bike, it has its own wheels.

Actually from the OTC model 1545 manual it specifically states "To lower the jack, SLOWLY depress the release pedal." (pg 5.)

A J&S commercial. $700.00+ for a jack to polish or change the oil. I guess if you're going to spend $30K for a Harley, and an additional $5K in chrome and accessories what's another $700 so you can clean your bike while it sits in the garage 99% of the time? All your friends will think you're so cool.

So the bottle jack on the J&S lift is made in China I've read. The ONLY working part is NOT made in the USA, so how is J&S allowed to say "made in America"?

Patrick Strijbos that is just what I thought. I have a really old steel plate constructed bike jack, looks like these but made from plate like a pro car jack. It does a great job but you wouldn’t want to push your bike around on it, that’s why it has 2 swivel casters and 2 fixed casters. J-S jackets should just say “this is our ad what do you think?” You generally get what you pay for in tools so keep that in mind when you check out any Harbor Freight item. I would buy their wrench but not something to hold up my zillion dollar Harley!!!!!

J&S Product Warning! The Base Plate where the bottle jack bolts on to is bending do to thin steel plate that J&S is using. This plate will bend and crack the base of bottle jack and cause the bottle to leak jack fluid. If you have these J&S motorcycle lift please contact them for repair or upgrade. Do not use this unit to lift motorcycle, if you lose fluid while motorcycle is on the jack you will not able to bring it down. If you have one of these motorcycle lift please flipped over and check the bottom of the bottle jack base.

The Pitbulll lift has a larger frame, because it lifts higher. 5 inches higher than the J&S, which means you can stand up to work on your bike for many tasks. I've built full size Harley touring bikes from the frame up on the Pitbull jack that I've had for over 10 years, without any trouble. This "comparison" video is a joke. The "geniuses" at J&S likely paid for this ten minute long advertisement.
