Why I really enjoy your videos, I will never ride these roads and they are filled with information about the area your in. Would never get this knowledge if you had not taken the time to make this. Great voice, great video quality, great information. What a wonderful thing to watch, when you live else where.

some nice homely cute villages there - which we have no idea exist when bombing up the motorway falsely thinking we have something important to do ;; which we don't , shame we want to bypass life in a hurry ;; really glad you can show us these interesting places ;;

Thanks Simon, glad you're enjoying the rambles. I used to be the same, but the more I use the back roads the more I see and the more I enjoy. Cheers.

Yet another grand day out & as always something new to learn. Harold seems perfectly suited to these winter rambles. You're making good use of the insta 360 camera without over doing it which is so often the case on YT. See you next time.

Thanks. Harold is great for this kind of riding, glad I got him. I'm finding the 360 quite useful but always warey of overdoing it and I try to keep the view as natural as possible. Glad you like it. Cheers.

@@old-n-Goldie I most definately agree with your good and subtle use of the 360, an excellent camera if used in the right way.

Hi again mate hope that your well. Nice to see yet another great stream from you . Many thanks 👍👍Nice to see the road being cleaned .We still dig peat to burn as fuel for heating and cooking . We are in Ireland near Galway. I used to take my kids to Evlington fishing at Elvington lakes and ate a pub at the top of the road , Theu hads a beakbar bar .Snak was called the Irrsh navi . Bread fried eges and chipps flolowed by a beer and they loved it.THe staff here are just great £2.00 each and lery loved it a good end to a weeked away .Stan Brittain had the lake and love to you fm us alll- .

Thanks for the comments and info, much appreciated. I'll be including Elvington in a forthcoming ramble so keep a watch out for it. I was surprised at how much peat is still used as fuel. Not much in England now, but in Ireland, Scotland and parts of mainland Europe it seems quite common. Thanks for watching, glad you're finding them interesting. Cheers.

Grand video. You reminded me of Elvington which I'm sure you know has a great airfield museum. Also made me look up 'ings' which is apparently an old word English word referring to water meadows and marshes ... every day's a school day as they say, cheers.

Your videos always start with a strain of "Roll over Beethoveen" so I guess you're a Beatles fan! Strawberry Fields is my favourite song 🎵 with some beautiful lyrics, such as "Nothing is real, and nothing to get hung about". Good to know there's a Cafe of the same name😊

I also enjoy how you use the insta 360, I dis like the view from them, but catches the things you point out. That's where I can see having one. Some want to use it as there camera. I don't like that look, but you use it just right

Thanks. I was very unsure about getting one as I often dislike the way many people use them but thought it could be a useful tool so long as I don't overdo it. Cheers.

Cheers Martin, glad you enjoyed it. I'll be going back to visit Cawood on a future ramble. There's been one or two places I've had to skip lately due to the bad weather but I'll get round to them later in the year.

Another interesting trip. Is there a memorial for the Viking dead at Skipwith? Can you imagine the panic at the sight of the viking long ships coming up the Ouse? Fight or flight?
@old-n-Goldie9 ай бұрын

I've found "Danes Hills" and a tumuli on the far western point of Skipwith Common on the O.S.map. There is also a King Rudding farm, lane and field leading to Dane's Hills. Could this be the site of the burials? A rhetorical question, but if you're passing....@@old-n-Goldie

Thanks, glad you liked it. It does take a bit of time working out the routes to take in anything interesting, then getting the history on the finds. Its what I enjoy doing though so as long as folk find the videos interesting, I'll keep doing em. I've just retired the jacket actually. Its been a good one and served me well for about ten years but I decided to treat myself to a new one so just got a Merlin waxed cotton jacket. I bought it at one of the classic bike shows at Stafford for about 30 quid I think. It's by rk Sports Bike Wear. I think they still do similar ones but the pockets are different Cheers.

It sounds to me, the more you ride your trusty Himmy steed, the better the exhaust note gets..., or are you using a different mic (referring to the remote one) ? The sound of a Thumper ploding along is just as enjoyable as a HD Evo engine ticking over at the lights, or a Shovelhead excelerating away from them..., just thought i'd mention that, as you also have an affinity towards the older Harleys. You could have gone back in for a second brew and slice..., you know, for the sake of content and continuty! After all, that Cake must have been good if it warrented the a long ride out there, lol. Your explanation as to how the old English names came to be and their meanings is interesting to hear, just as are all the other tit-bits of history you never cease to deliver on your Rambles. Thanks.
@old-n-Goldie9 ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind comments, glad your enjoying the videos. The change in exhaust note is actually due to a new silencer. I've been doing one or two upgrades on Harold that includes fitting an Enfield Precision silencer as I thought the stock one was a little bit too quiet for my liking. This one sounds about right to me. I'll be doing a video on how I've been getting on with Harold and the mods I've done a little later in the year. Perhaps I should have gone back for more cake, you make a good argument for it, but I have to watch my figure 😊😊😊😊. I love the history of places and their names and you often get several versions of names and even conflicting explanations - fascinating. Cheers
