Good job. Pretty much the whole process is to try and make it as much of a pain in the ass as possible for the thief. Like you said, if they want it then they will have it. But each deterrent can buy you ten minutes or so. My personal goal is to try and make it a 30 minute job for the thief. Two chains, two disk brake locks (the back one being alarmed) two brake/throttle locks and an anchor system. If possible stick something heavy in the underneath compartment to add a bit more weight and make lifting it up a hard task.

thank you! yes that's a great way to put it. Each item buys time for you or a passer buy to notice what's going on... and the longer it takes the more likely thieves will get spooked. But best case is they take a look at the work involved and don't even bother! Thanks for watching.

Im being maliciously targeted by a neighbour. The police dont care Once i got my bike back within 11 hours of noticing it gone... which is only a michigan 125 i use the following until i can use my BMW f700gs which is locked in a garage at an unknown location. 2 chains directly to a thick metal gate with rear wheel atatched to said chains 1 chain from front wheel to frame of the bike 2 alarmed disc break locks 1 clutch lock (buys me more time but doubt ill need it) A cover and bungie corded the cover down. Behind a locked gate with a camera facing the gate and me with a plethura of "things" i could use, im sleeping in the room attarched to the gate with the window locked open and an monitor always on to glance at the camera Fool me once... you'll never fool me twice I cant stand motorcycle thieves

@fratchak I’ve heard the Oxford big boss alarm lock is really the best I have a friend who swears by it: amzn.to/3dk4XAc Otherwise cheaper versions of the same thing include… The Oxford screamer: amzn.to/3jkj4cE Or the Lintax break disc lock: amzn.to/3hjt3fP I hope that’s of any help 👍😂

you're dead right about keeping the lock off the ground. concrete floors make a great anvil. also , if possible , place your disc lock with the key hole towards inside of the wheel. much harder to pick.

I don’t own a motorbike yet so all this is new to me but I plan on getting one soon. Is this only when you park your bike overnight if you don’t have a garage or is this something you do anywhere you go ?

Hi man, great video. Just a question. When you put the 1,5/2m chain on, do you also link it to the bike itself, or just the wheels? Just thinking would be much easier removing the wheels and taking the bike just like that onto a van or something if I was to steal it. Getting my first bike in the next week or two and just wanna get these things right.
@FabMotorbikes
@FabMotorbikes 2 жыл бұрын
thank you. And yes, putting the chain round the frame would be a better idea. Its just not always practically possible. But definitely a more secure way of doing it.
@ondrejpala8779

Perfect video, especially showing how those chains looks like in reality, pretty massive stuff. I’m planning to get 2 chains to lock both wheels together with motorcycle frame and put both chain ends through a hole( just big enough for those chains) in metal plate(covering cellar window) and then use some solid lock.Locking and unlocking will be made from inside of the building so harder to pick them…what do you think?
@FabMotorbikes
@FabMotorbikes 2 жыл бұрын
This sounds like a great plan. Nothing is ever 100% secure… but with your plan there is so much work to do in order to get the bike, no one will ever bother. If you add a bike cover too that’ll be great 👍

Hi Thanks! Glad you like the video. I'm afraid not. That additional 0.5M doesn't sound like much but its pretty much the reason I bought the second 2M chain. And sometimes I end up having to link them together in order to reach the object I'm securing to. If I had to get 1... it would be the longer 2M chain.

the best thing for this is to add bright additions to your devices. E.g for the disc lock, the bright coloured spring that attaches to you handle bars. And for a chain, add bright coloured tape. unfortunately there is no sure fire way of you driving off with these on.. but these have worked for me for over 14 years. And i've only ever driven off without them

Disclocks are useless nowadays. They grind a peace out of the brakedisc left and right from the lock to remove te lock. The don't fight against the strength of your lock. As long as the removed part of the brakedisc is smaller than you brakepad (abortus 6-8 cm) they can still use the brakes whilest getting away! Modern anglegrinders need 4 seconds to cut through a brakedisc. So 2x 4 seconds and the disclock falls of.

I got a GPS tracker hidden in mine and for some reason I don't give a HUUHUU about the lock :D One benefit it has is that it alarms you if your battery is dead and you know before you even try to fire it up that you have to charge your battery or buy a new one.
