I did about 30 countries on the NC750X in Europe and Central Asia (Africa is next). I tested it in so many conditions. Two up, fully loaded, some serious off-road, bad roads, bad gas quality, many drops, all kind of weather (from snow -5C to desert +40C). How many issues did I have? ZERO!!! Thanks for the proper review 👍 I always love to hear your opinion because I consider it to be honest/most unbiased.

On your travels did you find the fuel economy was realistically so frugal (can it really regularly achieve 3.5l/100km? 400km to a tank of fuel) ?

Owned a 2014 NC750X which I bought new and put 50,000KM on it. It's reliable, easy to service, no engine heat, excellent for hot weather riding, and it's an indestructible work horse. Excellent for commuting and long rides. Also, it's quite powerful. If you're thinking to buy one, go for it. My only regret is that I sold mine.

2013. I had bmw gs. For one year. And sold it (had accident). 2014. I bought NC750x. Was very worry regarding engine power... but... this bike is incredible! Till now I have 30,000km. Just regular service and go! On highway, the cruising speed is 130-140kph (4-5 thousand rpm) with touring screen and givi wind deflector. No issue (I’m 186). Light off road is very easy with proper tires. Lovely bike. My longest trip was 960km in one day. And second day 760km.. This bike is more comfortable than bmw gs! Don’t forget: Honda engineers cut half of Honda jazz engine and assemble into this bike. This engine can run more than 300,000km! You can look up the design information for the NC series of engines on Honda’s website and no mention of Jazz engines is made. The engine was designed for motorcycles from the start.

I’ve had a NC750X dct since 2014, have used it for daily commutes and for holiday road trips (Alps, South of France mainly) alone and with my wife. It’s a fantastic ride: easy, reliable, pleasant, practical, economical (4 liters per 100km, really!)... I wouldn’t recommend the manual version as the DCT really helps make up for the limited power (you don’t need a huge engine when the transmission automatically sets you on the right gear and torque). I’ve been considering upgrading to an Africa Twin for a while but can’t seem to convince myself to part from this great motorcycle and possibly lose all that I love about it.

Hi, I can only confirm all good about the motorcycle. I had the bike for three years (2015 model) and rode almost 50000 km on it. Very good for long distance travelling (except more bent legs due to high foot pags possition). A real fuel consumption really impessed me was, overal average was 3.3 L/100 km (one person riding). I can highly recommend this bike for beginners, comuters, travelers but also as universal machine for every day use (but not for an off-road). Maybe it is more hard worker than a bike. ... forgot to mention, no issues within 50000 km :-)

I am on a second NC750. First was a naked 700 (S) and now i have the 2017 750 x dct, exactly like the one you review. I love this bike so much, i always ride 2 up with paniers and top box fully loaded, all around Europe.

Bought the white version 2019 750x DCT version and this is how my fueling works. Its now 4 months old and I have just over 13 000km on it. I have everything on the app named Fuelly but after emailing them twice now saying that my KTM is showing up but not my NC (also no Honda NC from 2018 onwards are listed at all so I assume its a server / DB issue they have) is showing up so everything can be viewed. Anyway, my daily commute is from Strand to Cape Town city center which is 52km one way. About 5km in total for the ride is city driving and the rest is freeway. But I hit serious traffic each day in each direction for about 20km where I lane split (20-70kmh depending but this is for the ±20km or so) the rest is then freeway. So if I ride on the freeway at 120kmh ave when possible the fuel consumption for the tank is ±4,2L/100km. When doing 100kmh as a max speed when possible I get 3,3L/100km. For 2 tanks (after I did ±5000km) I decided to ride it hard just to see: 4,7L/100km keeping around 175kmh when safe but always hard acceleration and braking in Sport mode 2. I found riding it that hard makes of an aggressive person with a short temper off the bike (as an observation) Reserve comes on around 320-340km per trip when ave is 3,3. I also only use the Drive mode except every now and then while in town. Fuelly account is 574SharkBait574 but the NC is not showing online although data sync on the app is successful.

I enjoyed riding that bike in Gran Canaria it was great fun and powerful enough. I did struggle for a start running out of revs as I'm used to a 12,000 RPM red line and the NC red lines at about 6,500 RPM. Soon adjusted to this and enjoyed the bike and especially enjoyed riding with Canary Motorcycle Tours. Great review

I'm using one to commute in Bangkok. Your review is spot on. Even in the crazy traffic in Bangkok, you can manoeuvre this easily, it carries its weight well. I do miss the acceleration and excitement of my Tracer GT (a brilliant machine, but I digress), but if you use it for commuting or touring, this is perfect.

the honda inter-company collaboration took place between car and motorcycle divisions for the first time in the company history, to come up with this motorcycle i was told. that’s why this vehicle has revolutionarily low rpm maxing engine. hence the great mileage but more importantly it contributes to a car like engine life expectancy. with a max performance at 4000rpm, it’s completely possible. making this motorcycle that can truly competes with a car in cost per value category for the first time. honda should be more vocal about their achievements.

Best bike I ever had. I have a 2016, the dct version, I averaged 3.1L/100km over the last 6000km... for tall riders (192cm), knight design sells lowered footpegs.

This a good bike for beginners and advanced, I highly recommend this bike. For advanced users I recommend to reflash the ECU to remove limitations and if you stay in the mountain area, change the gearing (-1 on front; + 2 on back). My bike is 2017 model and I already done 45000 km. Also, I go on track regulary (i know is not a bike for track, but I have so much fun) and is very stable motocycle. Downside (depends on the riding style) - is to heavy (225 kg ffs) - weak brakes on front wheel - suspension can’t be turned PS: in 2 year and 45000 not even a single problem...keep in mind, my riding style is very sporty...just in this summer I change 3 tire sets

Im the proud owner of the 2015 model. Awesome bike. i use it on a daily basis, and also for fun and travelling. Hard as a rock, easy to perform the maintenance. On mine, after almost 4 years of use, ive manage to do 3,3l/100km with luggage (and also @110kg rider :P). The only bad thing about this bike, from my perspective, is the ergonomics. For a 1,85 in medium/long trips/daily use has a toll on my body (even with a 2,5inch handlebar raiser), but this is something that happened to me on every bike on this segment (this one resulted the most confortable one, for me). On the mechanical overwiew im almost agree on everything (the traction control is something unecessary on this bike) . Nice review. I hope the manufacturers start thinking a little bit more on the ergonomics and comfort instead of adding that much useless electronic craps.

Have the same one in Red 2020. Decided for Honda NC 750 X because it feels so good and easy to Ride the bike. Tested the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650 great Bikes but for me as a beginner i was feeling better on the Honda. 👍

I have this motorcycle, it is a great one if you are ok with many of the things they mention on the video. I live in Mexico and let me tell you that the roads here are not the best ones, and the price of gas is high ( $1.10 dollar per litter), so if you want to ride 120 - 130 km, 85 % highway 15 % dirt, 10 litters = 320 kms. Service once a year, oil twice a year, always ready, reliable. Seat is kind of bad, by the way, what brand is the seat you bought? I'd like to see if I can get it here. Guys if you want a BMW, a Multistrada or KTM buy one, take it anywhere, go fast, ride the adventure, but this motorcycle is for the people who don't have or don't want to spend all that money and need a reliable, economical and good motorcycle. Not for anyone. Be safe.

@@mwosekisaila the 500x is lighter than the NC, so even though it has a bit less power the power to weight ratio is practically the same. Shocks are a bit soft but nothing serious, both bikes are made for the road. Also, one good point is the seat height is lower than the NC, so it's easier to ride if you are less tall. Fuel tank is bigger than the NC as well. Since it has a conventional gas tank, it doesn't have the extra space in the front like the NC which is useful for the city. However for longer rides you will need the extra cases anyway, so it's not a big deal. It's also cheaper than the NC. The looks of the bike is entirely up to you, the NC looks more of a bigger bike in the middle section, but it doesn't matter much.

Hi Pavlin, i guess the NC 750 has absolutely everything you need. More is not necessary. For experienced rider like you or Martin, it is absolutely not important, whether the fueltank is beneath the seat or at the traditionell place. You were keep saying that "weight always matters", and I agree. Do you know the weight of that bike? Just check it! Even if its low centered I think its too much and Honda is giving you only a single disc which can be dangerous on long hill downs.

Traded goldwing which paid for FJR, traded FJR which paid for this. I wanted the DCT but now I wouldn't trade back up, it does it all with lighter weight and 68mpg us, and the frunk is used every time.

Noone of you said that it is very low rpm engine motorbike. This is the reason why it is a world champion low fuel consumption motorbike. Very, very economical engine. Consequence of that is that it has cut-off at 6500 rpm, very unusual. So it is very unusual gear shift. In consequence the best solution for that is to have DCT version to avoid often gear changes. It is a perfect bike to the city and around because of it's construction and trunk instead of fuel tank.

Nice bike but gas filler under seat a hassle if you're carrying a strapped down pack, tent, sleeping bag, etc. Why not filler access on the side or to rear?

It’s can’t really be half a Honda Jazz engine as it doesn’t have iVTEC. You have to go the a VFR if you want that. This bike replaced the Honda Deauville as Honda’s mid range bullet proof bike. They emphasised the fuel efficiency and of course the low cost, which was about £5,000 when it came out. TMF did a tour in the Canaries which demonstrated (one of his biker friends) how two up is ok on this bike....

Coming from a 2013 V-Strom 650 on which I did about 27,000Km from new, I want a CVT or DCT bike to reduce hand and wrist pain I get from a manual clutch. The Strom is, in my opinion, exceptionally pleasing in almost every regard. Sadly, like a proper idiot, I swapped it for a new Yamaha T-Max 530 DX scooter a year ago, but I am wholly disappointed with the T-Max, and I have not done more than 900 kilometres in the last year. Looks like this will be my next bike and therefore probably my last petrol-powered bike. I reckon 10 years from now electric bikes will equal ICE bikes and then some.... but not today. By-the-way (not connected to the Honda)... In all regards except the following two, the T-Max is a great bike, but I cannot forgive its major failings. It is far, far too noisy. It sounds, until about 80KPH like a broken washing machine powered by a poorly maintained two stroke engine. Horrible, whining, buzzing, droning sound. It has poor fuel economy, but that's due to the CVT transmission (21KPL). On balance, though, it almost rides itself - it is that easy to ride. Almost no negative effects on handling with a passenger. Comfortable and great wind screen (electric). It has (perhaps as it is still new) no CVT vibration when pulling away or slowing then re-accelerating. Why swap it then? That f^^^ing noise.

i bet you get those kind of questions all the time but i'm gonna ask it anyway. i am considering buying either Honda NC750 or Suzuki DL or Yamaha XT660Z. Which one would you buy considering that you would not go off-road or would go very rarely max 5% and it would be light tarmac rather than heavy off road. I guess that eliminates XT660Z already so let's get that out of the equasion. DL or NC? First bike, new rider. Thanks !

I own the cb500x and have noticed that lateral wind is a bit of a problem. Since you've ridden both, did you notice any significant improvement in the 750x?

In my opinion the Versus will be better for your size but the best way to know fo sure is to try them both and decide after that.

Great video as usual! 👍 I went to try it last week and I was surprised: due to the low down torque , I felt I was riding a single cylinder ( I mean it positively ) since the two cylinders feels “empty” to me. I had Aprilia pegaso and VStrom, and, even though the Strom was more performing, I felt it empty compared to the single cylinder Pegaso. the best would be high torque and high revs of course (like my old GSXR 1100)...But too heavy and sporty for daily use. That’s to say, I was impressed by the NC750x. The bike felt also so light despite the 230kg it carries. The only problem was the horrible windshield , the noise from the wind was soooo loud!!! Otherwise, nice bike! I’m thinking of getting one (but with manual gear). The other choice would be the Vstrom (to which, anyway) I would change the windshield due to its buffeting problems.. is there any bike (beside the costly GS1200) that has good wind protection?? Any suggestions?

Great bike but for 2 reasons I would not get it one gas tank to small and 2 you have to lift the back seat to get at the gas tank to fill it, this could be a problem if you are fully loaded and have to unload the back seat to fill up. If they would make it so you could fill the gas with out removing the back seat and put a larger gas tank on it, it would be on my list. Even the CB500X has a larger gas tank and you can get 500 Km per talk on it. If going long distance do not want to be looking for gas stations.

Do rental outfits avoid the DCT model of the NC750X? I know it costs a little more, but I don't know if the additional complexity causes issues with reliability.

Yes, as Martin explained to me, it takes a day or two to learn how to ride properly the DST. Most of the clients don't have it. Not understanding and knowing how to use it could cause some serious mechanical problems or accidents. That's why they prefer the manual gear shift.

It is easy if you ever rode scooters. I never did it before and for me was very strange in first hour. I completely agree that you need time to adjust yourself to the none clutch and gear shift mode. You can easily damage the gear box if you don't know how to use it. The DCT is made to prevent mistakes, but it is made and tested from professionals. Normal people are sometimes very stupid and make absolutely illogical things, like to try 1st gear with high speed, or pull parking brake before they stop. Also, not having gears on the corners or not using properly the automatic shiftier could finish with accident.

DCT gearbox is very reliable. There was a problem with the shift pin around 60k miles many years ago but this was fixed. Rental outfits just don’t want to pay the extra for the DCT. DCT will not cause problems on corners even in the wet because it shifts smoothly unlike humans.

I got 450km on my best tank using most of the reserve. I could have done roughly 14 more km I think. Fill up afterwards was 13.4 litres. That was the 2017 DCT ridden gently in D mode on quiet roads.
