In this episode we get to spend some time with Honda's do-it-all bike, the NC750X. I've gotten to test this bike in different scarios, from heavy city traffic to some light offroad to see where it shines and also where it drops the ball. Two things were quite impressive from the beginning, the price and the fuel consumption.
For a list of all my pros and cons and a more detailed look, I hope you enjoy this episode.

Good review! After being off a bike for 33 years, my first bike was a 2012 NC700X DCT, the first year they came out with it. Did not like it at first, was grossly underpowered at highway speeds and wasn’t crazy about the DCT. But as I came to learn the DCT, and the bike as well, it became a great little in-town bike. That center cubby hole is very functional and can hold lots of groceries. In retrospect, the DCT allowed me to focus on my surroundings and not shifting gears, so that was a very good thing and this bike got me back on 2 wheels. Since then, I’ve owned 5 bikes with DCT, and all generations and have logged over 150,000 miles with no mechanical issues. It’s an amazing design and on my 2018 GoldenWing DCT, it’s very refined. Enjoy your content and will keep watching. Good work…ride safe!

I have been used to plenty of power on my bikes (02 & 14 DL1000 v Stroms) so I wonder if this would do it for me? Could it cruise at 70 on well graded gravel? 75 into the wind on the slab? Scrape the pegs in the twisties? I am living in the past though, not sure I'm up for any of that now.........

I remember your great Tuareg review. I wanted to get a CRF300L Rally for a first bike as a returning rider, but they're simply unavailable in the states. Main use would just be cruising rural areas. Tuareg was next on my list, but seemed a bit too advanced and also more $, and many more hassles in the US with few dealers. Went back to the NC750x because it seems so versatile. The ability to nip off to the store and bring back a bag of groceries in that frunk is more exciting to me than I should probably admit.

Had one, it was a great bike. It required a taller windscreen, bar risers and the center stand for my needs. The budget suspension works alright for the most part but not up to the task of hitting potholes and such things. Storage was brilliant and I only added a small top box for extra room for rain gear, etc. Fuel mileage was impressive, but the size of the tank wasn't. Long distance with the seat was brutal for me. Added a seat pad, but that too didn't help on longer trips. So, for a commuter and shorter trips, brilliant bike. But for longer trips or touring, I recommend something else that's better suited for that. I traded it in on a Moto Guzzi V85TT and I'm now much happier on long rides. Great review, love your content.

I own a 2018 manual version of the NC750X. I bought it last year and have so far done 7000 km on it. The fuel consumption over those 7000 km has been 35.6 km/l (83.7 mpg US or 100.6mpg UK). I ride mostly open roads, not a lot of city or motorways, which helps fuel consumption of course, but for a 750 cc bike I think the fuel economy is amazing. Like on 98.2% of modern motorcycles the front mudguard of the NC750X is too short to protect the bike, so it needs an extender. This is really stupid on your practical motorcycle, Honda. Motorcycle manufacturers seem to consider it a crime against humanity to fit belt drive on anything but big, hugely expensive american cruisers, but this bike really deserves a belt. Either that or a shaft drive would make it the perfect bike for people who use their motorcycle as more than just a weekend hobby. Chain drive is a pain in the a.. and it's the only thing I really don't like about my NC.
@MsSjaakvaak
@MsSjaakvaak Жыл бұрын
I don't understand why people like belts or shafts drives so much. They're a lot more expansive while you could easily fit a Scott oiler or tutoro chain oiler for 100-150 euro and have double your chain life with almost no maintenance at all. Also, the chain drives are more efficient; with both shaft and belt you'd always lose a few percents in power
@olethorhermansen5696
@olethorhermansen5696 Жыл бұрын
@@MsSjaakvaak Belt or shaft drive is a bit more expensive, not a lot, especially if you consider that they last the lifetime of the bike, while chain and sprockets have to be replaced. I have a chain oiler on my NC750X and yes, it makes it easy to lubricate the chain. But it's still a dirty, tedious job to clean it, and to clean the oil stains from the rear end of the bike. I would happily give up a few percent of power on my NC for a clean, maintenance free belt or shaft drive, but unfortunately that's not an option. If you like chain drive, there's about a thousand models on the market for you to choose from. It would be really nice, if those who want something cleaner and easier to live with had a little more variety than just wildly expensive American cruisers or big, cumbersome adventure bikes.

But friend gave me recommendations don’t go for daily ride kind thing 1000CC in practical world. So fellows kindly give me your input on NC750C or any similar bike. On the other hands I don’t like off roading but for out of town like weekend long trip yes, would do that. I’ve been great fan of Triumphs Speed Twin or BMW Rnine. Your advice will be great help. 🙏🫡😇
@olethorhermansen5696
@olethorhermansen5696 Ай бұрын
@@imranfotography As a bike for daily commuting I think the NC750X is hard to beat. It has sufficient power, is absolutely reliable and the fuel economy is in a class of it's own for a bike of this engine size. And it has the built in luggage capacity, which is very convenient. The only real downside is the chain drive, but unless you want a big, expensive cruiser, the options with either belt or shaft drive are very limited these days.

I am on my second one of these and have to say, your review is spot on! I put hand guards , a screen spoiler and palmer brackets and Oxford heated grips on mine and a centre stand. The motor is a delight and the gearing is perfectly set up for quick getaways and relaxed cruising! Personally I found the front forks were rather harsh but having changed to Hyperpro it is still very firm though it now really handles well in the twisties, The only other addition I am currently looking at is a rear hugger as the shock gets filthy!

And the NC750X besides the VStrom 800DE are on my top choice list, but thinking more about the NC because of the DCT and integrated storage compartment.

A very honest and accurate review. I have a 2020 model and love it. I live in Central Mexico and one major selling point for me when I chose this bike is it's reliability. This is a bike that will always get you to where you want to go, however long the journey. It has long maintenance intervals and the fact that I can undertake most maintenance myself is an added bonus. The fuel economy is amazing and I regularly get figures around 3.5 litres per 100 km plus it runs on regular grade fuel. I live at around 2,500 m above sea level and whilst alitude can affect the performance of some bikes my DCT doesnt seem to be affected. Note that riding a DCT bike a slow speeds and making tight turns takes some practice and requires balancing applying the throttle with rear brake dragging but once mastered this becomes second nature. All in all this is a great 'all purpose' bike at a very atractive price point.

I have a 2016 NC700X that I like a lot except for one fault that stands out like a sore thumb. The suspension does well until an abrupt road hazard such as a deep pothole or rut is encountered. The suspension turns to rock in that situation. My suspension travel is the same as you mention for the newer NC750 - 4.7 front and rear. I have to use an Airhawk over the top of a gel pad to protect my spine from the sharp impacts. Your review seemed to give the suspension a good grade. Did Honda make improvements to the newer NC model suspensions for compliance over abrupt road hazards???

Nice video. It is very informative and as a result of that I have subscribed. Just one thing that I think a lot of guys that make these videos forget to do is to tell the viewers a few of the specifics of the rider. I don't recall hearing you say how tall you are which is an important thing to know in terms of if the bike is a good fit for someone. I am about 6 foot one inch tall with about a 34" inseam so I want to know just how well my legs are going to fit on the bike before I ever purchase one. Another thing that is often missed by reviewers is the altitude that the bike was tested at. A bike tested at sea level will often have considerably different performance numbers than one tested at 2500 feet of altitude. These may sound like I'm nitpicking but a bike can be a substantial investment and like the temperature that you would like to see on the things included on the bike I would like a few more informative numbers to base my decisions on. Thank you for your work on this video nonetheless.

@@OperationFoxley19441 But its a lot harder, sometimes having the rear and fron wheel blocked won't let you do it as sometimes you need to move a little bit to let it you shift gear, so if you leave it in 4th gear, would be a little annoying for the "thief". Once again it is useless as if someone really wants your bike they will just come 3 guys and put it in a van, but you know, a little more annoying for single thieves and if some "funny" person unlocks your parking brake in a ramp, etc. I just think would be easy to lock the system for honda.

No heated grips option?! The pre-2021 model has a connector under the plastic body for the oem heated grips and the temperature appears on the display. Has that now been dropped? However, at the price they charge for them, it's cheap, quick and easy to add a pair of Koso or Oxford heated grips. Centre stands are always a must in my book, but many people don't like them, so the option is fine for me. To add grips and stands, etc would merely push the price up Electronic Cruise control is the big omission - or the option to add it - now that it would be so easy to add it in the factory.

It does have air temperature. Switch the display where the fuel consumption is on the bottom left.

No option for heated grips? Uhm, yeah there is, that package also adds the center stand, lower wind deflector and a larger wind screen, one package pretty much fills in all the complaints.

I like it but: - Slightly too heavy - 23 of storage is absolutely not enough. Especially that there's still space there. - Belt instead of chain required
